- Set your watch ahead four minutes and forget you did it . You'll be surprised how much more often you arrive at work and at meetings on time .

- Learn as much about your company and its management as you can . When jobs are cut , who and what you know may determine whether you're asked to stay or go .

- Look for ways a job can be done instead of reasons why it can't .

+ Pursue balance in everything . Even in pursuing balance .
+ When your boss suggests a change , agree enthusiastically to try it . If it doesn' t work , you can always suggest going back to the old way .
+ Timing is important . Approach your boss when you know he or she will be receptive .

+ Before you leave work , have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish the next day and what you'll do first .
