( DISTANT PROXIMITIES)
Distant proximities allow ourselves to be closer or nearer to an act that happened thousands of miles away than to local references or things that happend around us. Distant proximities allow us to feel closer to architecture that is made from certain determinate theories, or to people, independent of the place where it is produced.
We can not use the words context, reference, frame, group, whereas these terms refer only to our close surroundings, to the area that extends from our body.
Globalization does not necessarily mean losing shades of difference. it does not generate abstract spaces, without referenced, or "non-places. it is not a selection of concurrence, but rather the sum of contextuality. the simultaneity of place.
Thus, it makes sense that context is not the physical place that surrounds, of the cultural of subjective environment that wraps around us.
Place is felt personally, time spent throung experience, thought and science through thoughts; they are images and sound of past places of my memory.

2. The architect is increasingly becoming a creator of places. Unlike the tra***ional situation, when the architect was given a bief and a definition of uses, the plot is often no longer a vital datum for the project.
Projects, like films, follow a strategy. the choice of a place in the territorial magma is the first decision that characterises a work.
In a convulsed city, in a territory that requires active protection (rather than freezing its activity), the position of what is built (or of the empty space to be protected) is far more transcendent that the work itself. when a place is built, it is there for good.
