On the 28th May 1968 at 11am in Bethlehem Hospital - Melbourne - Victoria - Australia -Ron and Carol Minogue became the proud parents of their first child named Kylie Ann Minogue.

In 1980 Carol took both Kylie and sister Dannii to au***ion for a part in an Australian TV show to be called 'The Sullivan's'. Producers were very impressed with Kylie, Dannii was considered too young, so Kylie was chosen to play the part of a Dutch girl called Carla. She had to learn a Dutch accent for the part.

The same network also offered Kylie a brief part on another series called 'Skyways'. She was to play the part of 'Robin' alongside her on-screen brother played by Jason Donovan.

At 16 years of age, Kylie au***ioned for and won a role in the mini series 'The Henderson Kids'. Kylie played the part of 'Charlotte Kernow' for the 6 month duration of the series. Within this time Kylie had the difficult task of combining important high school studies with her acting.
At this point, Kylie began to realise how much she enjoyed acting. In 1985, Kylie completed school after successfully passing her 'Higher School Certificate'. She went on to appear in 2 more series - 'Fame and Misfortune' and 'Zoo Family'. Now Kylie hired an agent and her first au***ion was for Neighbours. In 1986, she won the part of Charlene and was contracted for up to 12 weeks. When it was time for her contract renewal it was obvious that Kylie's character was very popular so her contract was renewed. Kylie continued on with Neighbours for approximately 2 1/2
    years.

In 1987 Kylie became the youngest person ever to receive the Silver Logie (Australia's equivalent of the Emmy awards) for 'The Most Popular Actress' Whilst still with Neighbours, Kylie performed a song with the rest of the Neighbours cast for a Benefit at a Football Club. That song was 'Locomotion'. The crowd loved Kylie's performance so much that is was suggested she record it as a single. Kylie had reservations on how well her record would be accepted by the public, but of course, Locomotion was a huge success. It became and remains today as Australia's biggest selling single of the decade.

It was arranged for Kylie's next recordings to be produced by the successful UK based trio, Stock Aitken & Waterman. So in 1987, Kylie flew over to London to record 'I Should Be So Lucky' and then returned to Australia to film the video clip for the song. Kylie continued on with her busy Neighbours schedule as ISBSL shot to No1 in the Australian and British music charts - holding the postion at the same time - a first !! It also became a huge hit in Germany, Finland, Hong Kong and Israel, countries which had never even seen Neighbours.

Kylie's next single 'Got To Be Certain' was released next, also with impressive chart success. Kylie decided to leave Neighbours in June 1988 to concentrate on her new singing career. Her first album 'Kylie' was released the same month. The album received huge success, debuting no 2 in both Australia and the UK, going double platinum in Australia and gold in the UK and Singapore. The album then hit no1 and remained there for 4 weeks.

Kylie's first major film 'The Delinquents', filmed in Australia, was released in 1989. In June 1994 Kylie starred in the 40 million dollar US movie 'Street Fighter', alongside Jean Claude Van Damme. Unfortunately the movie was rather poor and didn't help Kylie's credibility as a serious actress. Kylie later referred to the movie as being one of her' big mistakes'.

In 1995, Kylie appeared in a bizarre short15 minute film 'Hayride to Hell' which did not receive a commercial release, so it remains relatively unseen. The same year, Kylie appeared in another US film, 'Bio Dome' starring Pauly Shore, another film Kylie now prefers to forget...

After a long break from music, January 98, Kylie released her new long awaited album titled 'Impossible Princess' in Australia and 'Kylie Minogue' in the UK due to concerns after the sudden death of the Princess of Wales. This was the first album in which Kylie wrote most of her own songs. Although the new album sold extremely well in Australia, it produced disappointing results worldwide, resulting in Kylie being dropped from her record label which at the time was trend dance label DeConstruction.

June 98 Kylie returned to Australia to kick off her national 'Intimate and Live' tour, her first tour in Australia for 7 years. Due to her long absence from Australia, Kylie remained nervously reserved in what kind response she would receive from her home country. Her concerns were laid to rest as soon as her plane arrived. Australia welcomed Kylie with open arms, even the media were unusually kind. Kylie was completely overwhelmed and touched by the huge response. 10 concerts were originally planned, but due to the huge public demand, 24concerts in total were performed nation wide. Kylie then continued on to perform IAL for her UK fans.

Currently, Kylie IS the queen of pop. The Kylie bashers have disappeared like yesterday's news. Kylie Minogue, with the #1 success of Can't Get You Out of My Head - 4 weeks at number 1 and simultaneously number 1 in the UK and Australia - Like her first hit - I should Be So Lucky and with the On A Night Like This Tour, has become the most successful female solo chart act in the UK music history. At last count it was seven No #1 and twenty one Top #10 singles. Now her 2002 tour has almost sold out in two days - is there no stopping her - 13 years on and still going strong !!
