Hic, sao mình chả nhận được thông tin gì thế nhỉ? Thế nhóm đã kế hoạch học chưa ?

Cho tớ tham gia với. Tớ đang là sinh viên năm 2, ĐHSPNN, ĐHQGHN. Tớ muốn thi Toefl vào cuối năm nay nên muốn tìm một nhóm học vì thấy tự học ở nhà không thôi chưa ổn lắm. Tớ cũng đã học Toefl trong 4 tháng và giờ cần practice nhiều hơn nữa.

As we all know that now only TOEFL ibt is available in US and Canada, we have no other choice but to prepare for ibt. The old version of TOEFL was easy in the sense that there was easy grammar section, but in the new test there is no grammar but ad***ional speaking section. overall the test is not very hard if we practice on all the sections as it is given in the TOEFL iBT blueprint on TOEFL website. I think it is very, very important first to learn what new test is expecting from us and then prepare accordingly. I would like to give my experience and some tips which might be helpful to my all friends who are going to appear for this new test.
1. READING SECTION: The paragraph are longer so when you practice, try to read long paragraphs as fast as you can and try to understand the main idea of the paragraph because in all the section, the main question will be about main idea of that paragraph so you must read fast and understand what is the main idea.
My observation about this section is that questions come in sequence as we read the passage, it means the first question will be MOSTLY from first paragraph and second question will be from second paragraph and so on. I would recommend that as soon as you start the reading section, first look at the 1st question and try to find answer for that only so you will read whole first paragraph only and get answer of 1st question. Do not try to waste time on reading whole paragraph in the beginning otherwise you will not be able to complete the test in time. similarly when you will read the 2nd question and will try to find answer for that, you will read whole 2nd paragraph. In this way, you will get an idea about main topic of reading paragraph after answering 4 to 5 questions. Remember that last two questions have more points to do not waste more time on initial questions.
TIPS: Read newspaper daily (not increase general knowledge but to increase reading ability). Look at the heading given on the top of each article and think that does it tell you whole idea given in the article. similarly you need to find main idea by single heading for your reading passage in actual test. Practice longer paragraph on internet on different topics (e.g. geography, biology, geology, environmental effects). This will definitely help u in exam.
LISTENING SECTION: This section has two small talks and four long talks. Now the most important thing here is you should develop skill of note taking during this part. If you are unable to take the advantage of this skill, you will definitely lose points. You can take notes while the listening paragraph is playing the voice file. write down all important points in the scratch paper provided during the test. These notes are very important when you will start answering the questions.
TIPS: Listen news on TV and try to note down important points in your notebook in short forms. Then try to speak as many sentence you can speak from those points. e.g. suppose the lecture is talking about how to make tea, you will write points in your note as: gather ingredients-boil water-milk-tea powder-sugar-boil 5-10 mins.- tea.
These type of note will help u answer many questions of listening section. Carefully listen words which are repeated by speaker. Note down all dates, important person''s names, any stepwise process described by speaker etc. because there will definitely be question on them. if the lecturer is interactive means professor is asking questions to students, try to find if the professor agree with student''s answer or not, or student have doubt about what professor told etc.
SPEAKING SECTION: Practice on topics of TSE posted on these website like favorite subject during school, favorite place to visit, most important person influenced your life, book you like the most, the place you like to visit the most etc. Remember that NABP requires 26 score out of 30 on speaking, so speak slowly and coherently to get maximum points. The preparation time for each talk is very less (only 15 seconds to 25 seconds in some questions) so go thoroughly prepared for speaking part. Practice on questions posted on ETS website for speaking section to get an idea what they expect you to speak. Listen to sample responses.
TIPS: Speak with your friends, relatives everyday on different topics. Increase your vocabulary by lots of reading. Record your voice and listen to it to find how many times you pause unnecessarily. Speak loudly because in the exam, you have to speak in microphone, so if you speak very slowly, it might not be recorded properly.
WRITING SECTION: This section has two assays. one independent writing and second is integrated writing means you will read passage on some task then you will listen to lecture, then you will write assay on what speaker described and is he agreed to the facts given in the paragraph or not.
The independent writing is same as TWE topics that whether you agree or disagree on some tasks, describe and explain certain topic etc.
TIPS: Increase your typing speed by practicing daily bcoz if you want to type assay in exam in 20 minutes without spelling errors, I would recommend that you type at least 1 assay per day in computer in MS WORD and see how many errors you made by doing spelling and grammar check option of MS WORD (note: you will not be able to do spelling check in actual exam). To give you an idea of how the assay is graded and how to get highest point, just go through ETS website and see the sample responses.
Final TIP: 1. First prepare for at least 3-4 weeks on all sections of iBT.
2. Go to http://www.free-english.com/TOEFL-iB...tice-test.aspx and to practice test.
3. Go to ETS website and do their practice test for iBT and read the feedback at the end of the test to know your weakness.
4. Practice to sit for 4 hours in front of computer without losing your concentration. (The iBT test is 4 hours long)
