Em muốn làm research về environment tại US. Các bác có thể list cho em Unis offfering Ph.D về ngành này không ạ. Nếu có bác nào đang làm Ph.D về environment thì nói cho em biết mới nhé.

Bạn nên chỉ rõ là bạn làm về chuyên ngành nào. Ngành môi trường thì rộng lắm, ví dụ như có các ngành hẹp về: Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource, Biology, Urban Environmental Management, Waste Management hay Environmental Study nói chung.... Ngoài ra bạn còn có thể làm research về môi trường trong các interdiscipline options ở các ngành khác như nghiên cứu về Environment Policy trong Public Policy, Corporate Environmental Management trong B-school... nói chung là rất nhiều. Bạn định làm Ph.D ắt là phải theo một chuyên ngành hẹp nào đó rồi chứ chung chung sao được, phải không? Nếu bạn chỉ rõ thì may ra tôi có thể giúp bạn được một ít thông tin.

Trên đây là danh sách các trường có Environmental Science/ Engineering trên toàn nước Mỹ, tôi nghĩ là không sót trường nào hoặc sót rất ít. Những trường nhỏ thì thường không có Ph.D Program nhưng bạn nên kiểm tra tất cả, nên bắt đầu từ những trường lớn. Theo tôi, GA Tech, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara là những trường ngon nhất, bạn thử nghiên cứu tiếp xem sao. Với ngần này trường chắc bạn sẽ tìm được trường ưng ý. Chúc bạn thành công.

Bác kỳ công thật. Bác well deserve la chairman. Em hy vọng là em được học cùng ngành với Bác. Các truờng ở Australia offering environment thì em biết vì OZ là neighbour của em (chẳng là em đang ở NZL). Nếu bác có list của các trường ở Europe, esp ở UK hay Germany thi bác cho em biết nhé, hay bác có thông tin nào về unis nào mà đang có offer scholarship cho Ph.D environment thì bác cho em biết nhé/
Thực ra em đang làm MSc về environment tại NZL Bác ạ và cuối năm nay em sẽ conclude khóa học. Bây giờ em đang tìm đường để xin scholarship để làm Ph.D ở Mỹ hay Europe.
Bác có biết Unis nào ở US mà có nhiều funding cho ngành environment không ạ? Thông thường đối với ngành environment ở US thì mình làm thế nào để xin được funding làm Ph.D ạ.?
Thực ra em eyed một số Unis ở US như John Hopkin, Comlumbia, Penn State, Clemson và cũng đã contacted superviors ở đấy nhưng vẫn chưa nhận được reply nào cả.
Có unis nào mà không require GRE không ạ?

Hôm nay vội quá mới chỉ lục lại được thế này thôi. Ở Đức thì tôi không biết mấy, bạn thử tìm chỗ khác vậy nhé.
Về các trường ở Mỹ, theo tôi được biết thì tiền không phải là vấn đề (vấn đề là không có tiền j/k). Rất nhiều trường hỗ trợ tài chính cho nghiên cứu sinh, đổi lại thì bạn phải làm cho họ (suy cho cùng thì chẳng có cái gì là cho không cả, đúng không?). Cái chính là bạn phải được trường chấp nhận, sau đó bạn xin làm trợ giảng hay trợ lý nghiên cứu thì tiền nong không phải nghĩ, họ sẽ cho bạn khoảng mười mấy nghìn/năm đủ cho bạn yên tâm học hành. Cũng theo chỗ tôi biết thì việc liên hệ với giáo sư ở các trường Mỹ chỉ có thể giúp bạn tìm được chuyên gia giỏi để hướng dẫn sau này, hoặc để xin làm trợ giảng hay trợ lý cho họ, chứ không ảnh hưởng gì tới khả năng bạn được nhận vào trường. Ở nhiều nước, chỉ cần có giáo sư nhận hướng dẫn (một dạng bảo lãnh) là bạn sẽ được nhận vào học. Ở Mỹ thì khác, bạn phải được hội đồng của Khoa chuyên ngành xét duyệt thì mới được vào học, ông giáo sư ruột của bạn dù có trong hội đồng xét duyệt đi chăng nữa thì cũng chỉ có 1 phiếu. Qui trình này tương tự như ở Việt Nam ta vậy. Sở dĩ như vậy vì ở Mỹ học Ph.D về cơ bản là không mất tiền, họ chọn lọc gắt gao và nghiên cứu sinh khi đã được nhận vào thì được tài trợ khá nhiều, đủ để yên tâm học hành.
Do vậy, vấn đề cốt lõi là bạn phải được nhận vào học (get admitted), chuyện tiền nong có thể tính sau. Vả lại ngành môi trường thì thường rất dễ kiếm học bổng, nhất là đi về phía ngành khoa học môi trường thì càng dễ nữa. Nếu bạn lăn tăn về học bổng thì có thể tìm hiểu về Quỹ học bổng của chính phủ Hoa Kỳ dành cho sinh viên Việt Nam, quỹ này thiên về các ngành khoa học kỹ thuật. Như tôi cũng làm về môi trường nhưng tôi theo ngạch quản lý nên học bổng rất khó kiếm, còn theo như cái quỹ nói trên thì hoàn toàn không có lối. Bạn cứ yên tâm sục sạo, cơ hội chắc chắn không thiếu. Tôi không đi theo chuyên ngành hẹp của bạn nên cũng không lục lọi nhiều và do đó không nắm giữ nhiều thông tin cho lắm. Hy vọng những cái ít ỏi trên đây giúp bạn được phần nào.
