Globalization is a catch-all term denoting various activities between two or more nations, and travelling from one country to another is a typical example. Along with the upsurge in international travel in recent year, there are an increasing number of people censuring it for impairing the rapport between locals and visitors, whilst others aver that it makes opportunities for a higher understanding of each other. I do strongly support the latter notion due to some facts in favour of this trend all over the globe.
One of the primary reasons why transnational travel would stir up harmony between countries is owing to the fact that it gets both locals and travelers become beneficiaries. Thanks to international travel, expanding enterprises in an external country are much more facile than before. As a result, entrepreneurs will not only keep their concentration on the domestic market, but also on overseas ones. Assuredly, to be the winners in an exotic outlet, they have no choice but to investigate the indigenous culture. Subsequently, the locals would acknowledge the culture newly introduced by the foreign companies. Both sides would have to accept their partners’ culture, a requisite for a successful cooperation.
Furthermore, it also should be noted that the discord of exterior visitors and primitive residents, induced by variances in social, cultural and religious background, could be extenuated by international travel. It’s no denying that the more contact they have, the more comprehension and sympathy they get. Let us take Vietnam as an instance. Prior to 1994, many Vietnamese retained their hostility against United States, their former opponent in the Vietnam War. However, since the relationship was normalized, the two countries have built a sturdy relationship, with cooperation in numerous fields. This is attained through more travel, and in turn, better mutual understanding between these two nations.
On the other hand, though there is a concern that visitors maybe condemn local communities and environments, it is worth noticing that most of these disdains are unintentional and resulted from their lack of knowledge of native cultures. Undoubtedly, over time, once they have sufficient acquaintance about cultures, they would perceive the magnitude of venerating the locals’ way of living and their habitat.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that the increment in international travel should not be deemed as the driver for conflicts between two countries. Instead, one should esteem it as the impetus for reciprocal understanding of each other’s culture.

Topic 3: There is a disagreement on the impact of increased businesses and culture contact between countries on a country’s identity. What is your opinion?
Globalization, one of the most salient trends in the 21st century, is manifested in the crescent interaction between nations, in both economical and cultural terms. However, this phenomenon has aroused a widespread worry that it will lead to the evanescence of countries’ characters. The issue should be me***ated and assessed in manifold perspectives.
First of all, it is worth noticing that the commercial and cultural exchanges are one of things contributing to the gradual demise of some specific cultures. Along with opening markets and abolishing barriers, an immense flow of foreign goods and media products would be introduced into domestic outlets. As a result, it is not surprising that many locals, especially the youth, would readily be captivated by an utterly novel, up-to-date lifestyle from the Western. This could instigate huge changes in their way of living, as well as their savors. In turn, they would be likely to feel bored of their countries’ folk songs, and instead, prefer thrilling hits appearing on Billboard. They probably no longer relish the dishes from their homeland, and shift to enjoy KFC’s or Mc Donald’s junk food. Eventually, the indigenous cultures and ways of living, which determine a country’s identity, are hardly capable to compete with the external ones and likely to end up fading into oblivion.
On the other hand, it should be noted that fortunately, a host of organizations, companies and governments has perceived the magnitude of conserving native cultures. For instance, tour operators, recognizing the demand of numerous tourists on traveling to exotic and primitive areas, will invest into stimulating communities to retain their original cultural values. The governments, for national pride, will implement policies to preserve their cultural heritages, in order to display them to other nations.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that increased contact between countries could be a menace to countries’ identities or an incentive to protect their tra***ional cultural merits, depending on the attitudes of people involved.

Nowadays, one of the most salient trends in the tourism industry is operating tours to get tourists to visit and explore exotic, primitive cultures. This has aroused spirited debate about whether it could contribute to impair or preserve cultural values. This essay will elaborate on both positive and negative sides of tourism impacts from a cultural perspective.
There is a little room for doubt that tourism has the potential to urge the conservation of cultural merits. There are more and more tourists, who have been weary of luxurious and extensive tourism sites, preferring to travel to a place small and restful, where the landscape and culture has almost not been afflicted by modernization and industrialization. Scenting this crescent demand, tour operators would promptly put attention to invest into low-key communities, in order to induce them to retain their cultural heritages. Subsequently, the locals could apprehend more the magnitude of keeping their own cultures and endeavor to do it.
Nevertheless, as every coin has two sides, sometime tourism develops at the expense of a part of culture. Tour operators, especially unscrupulous ones, certainly attach more importance to income than to communities’ benefits, and would be likely to introduce new elements of outside cultures to entertain tourists. That could end up leading to the loss of the unique nature of the culture, making it a commonplace. Besides, when the tourists arrive at those areas, they will also bring the communities a host of novel things, including languages, food, cloths, music, and lifestyle. Thus, the indigenous tra***ional ways of living could be gradually spoiled, or even superseded by the external one.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that tourism is neither a boon nor a bane to cultures. Despite the effort of some to take advantage of tourism to preserve cultural characters, it still could jeopardize the integrity of a culture.
