    1. Work in pairs and answer the following question.
    1. What kinds of food do you like to cook?
I like to Cook Chinese food. Our race has the most delicious recipe for sauce.
    2. Do people in your country like cooking meals for friends in their homes or do they prefer going out to eat in restaurants?
In our tra***ion, we often invite friends to our house for a gathering meal. Because, we can enjoy ourselves and make as much noise as we want to. Furthermore, we can have private conversation without the fear of being heard by strangers.
    3. Are people healthier in your country now than they were in the past?
I think people are getting healthier because we have enough nutrition for our daily meals. In the past, people were struggling to have enough food while working very hard hence their health was not good.
    4. Do you think fast food will still be popular in the future?
No, I do not think so because fast food is not delicious at all. My family, my friends and myself rarely go for fast food because they are overpriced and tasteless.

    2. Describe a popular dish from your country that you enjoy making.
I am from Vietnam so I will mention a tra***ional Vietnamese dish. In our country, the winter is very cold and long. Hence we prefer to have a meal which can be served warm and spicy. Hot Pot seems to be the perfect meal during winter time. Hot pot is often mentioned as steamboat in some regions in Vietnam. It takes a few minute to heat up. When the soup starts boiling, we can make our food of choice inside the cooker. My favorite food are meatballs, Tofu and shrimp. We just have to dump them into the tasty soup and wait for them to get well-done. Some of us love to eat them with rice, some prefer noodles. We will add more soup into the pot when they get dried out. Having a hot pot meal means you can have plenty of time to eat and chat with your friends.

    3. Writing task 2
An increasing number of people are turning to vegetarianism. Some people believe that people are following a vegetarian diet for reasons other than animal rights issues.
    Do you agree with this?
Give reasons why some people are choosing to become vegetarian.
No I disagree with all the above statements. There are only two reasons why people are turning to vegetarians. The first reason is because they have weight problem. If they are overweight, they want to consume lesser and lesser the amount of fat to avoid high cholesterol. Therefore they choose not to consume meat which contains high amount of animal fat. But this choice will be a rightful decision, without protein from animal, our body will not have a sufficient amount of energy. With the insufficient energy, we perform badly at our work and seems not possible to work for hours continuously. So I think the only solution to solve the overweight problem is exercising. Doing exercise can help them to lose weight and be fit, furthermore they will have healthier lifestyle without applying any unproven vegetarian diet. The second reason for vegetarianism is religion. We all know that Monks are forbidden to consume animal food product in Buddhism. If they choose to practice Buddhism and serve the temple they have to quarantine themselves from all the bonds with social, give up all the ambitions and sins. In Buddhism, they believe in the equality of life between animal and human. About the animal rights issues, I do not concern much about them. I believe in survival of the fittest, in order *****rvive we have to work hard and we can do anything we think it's rightfulness. That is the reason why human is currently the dominating species on earth. As the dominators, we can consume any animal product if we want to. In the wild, buffalos are the prey and lions hunt them for food. That's the rule of nature and the food chain.

Topic 2: When international media (including movies, fashion shows, advertisements and other TV programmes) convey the same messages to the global audience, people argue that the expansion of international media has negative impacts on cultural diversity. What is your opinion?
Along with the hasty pace of globalization, a handful of international media companies are expanding all over the world and getting more and more influential. This phenomenon has aroused a widespread concern that the uniformities and popularities of numerous media products they provide (such as television series, movies, music, advertisements…) can be pernicious to the cultural diversity. In my own view, the issue should be ruminated and assessed in manifold perspectives.
First of all, it is not denying that the extension of international media is one of the factors contributing to the cultural homogeneity. It goes without saying that the media spreading worldwide is primarily owned and controlled by a number of gigantic corporations, such as Walt Disney or Time Warner. When penetrating into a market, they would put domestic media companies at risk, and hence afflict the diversity of the broadcasted products. Moreover, the monotony in what they provide, mostly narrowed in a few genres, could be a menace to a variety of others. Besides, the mainstream media, which chiefly reflects the lifestyle and thinking of American or Western people, is likely to impel changes in ways of living of communities in Asia and Africa, exerting a major impact on the sustainability of native cultures. Consequently, it could lead to the degradation of a host of primitive cultures and the minimization of cultural diversity.
On the other hand, it is worth noting that not every kind of international media is destructive to cultural diversity. There is a trend in media activities, which is to exploit the characters of some exotic cultures to obtain the attention of numerous curious audiences, who are always ardent about exploring novel, unaccustomed things. One typical example is the Discovery channel, seducing millions of watchers by their own programmes discovering distinctive cuisine and tra***ions of Asian regions. In ad***ion, some media companies, to acquire huger market shares in an overseas outlet, would have to broadcast products pertaining to the domestic culture. For instance, on MTV Asia, founded by MTV originated in United States, not only Billboard hits but Mandarin, Japanese or Korean tracks also are aired.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that international media is neither a boon nor a bane to cultural diversity. Though it could be an impetus for the deterioration of multiple cultures, it might be salutary if properly operated.

    --------------------

Topic 5: Some people argue that immigrants should adopt the local culture when immigrating to a new country. An alternative view is that they can adapt to a new environment by establishing a minority community. Discuss these two views and give your opinion.
Along with the hasty pace of globalization, there is an immense wave of immigrants, who have determined to leave their motherlands and resettle in a foreign country, growing all over the world. Once they have arrived in the new country, they would be at a crossroads whether to integrate into the local culture or to cherish their original ones by setting up a minority community. The essay with elaborate on analyzing both notions.
First of all, it is worth noticing that that most incomers, at the onset of their life in a new area, have the tendency to merge into the culture of the indigenous society. It is due to the fact that by doing this, the newcomers would have a good starting point, making them more facile to be accepted by the native. Observing and getting more comprehension of the local tra***ions would help them less abashed and diffident whilst communicating with others, such as their colleagues or neighbours. Generally, the immigrants’ adaptation to the new culture is salutary not only for their careers and accommodation, but also for their children’s education and the welfare of their own families.
Nevertheless, it also should be noted that not every emigrant is willing to forsake their tra***ional ways of living and cultural heritages, and instituting minority communities is a due solution. This could enable them to mitigate the stress resulting from culture shock, and to feel like they are staying in their beloved homelands. On the other hand, this is capable to contribute to the conservation of multiple cultural merits pertaining to communities of immigrants. A typical example is the flourishing of Chinese towns in numerous countries worldwide, especially those in United States.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that the successful resettlement of emigrants could only be fulfilled with the adjustment to the native cultures. Still, it is likely for them to preserve the nature of their cultures by constituting minority communities in the new countries.

    ---------------------
Topic 6: The advantages of the spread of English as a global language is continue to outweigh its disadvantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, there is little room for doubt that English is well on the way to become a dominant international language. However, this impact of this trend is a subject of constant debate. The essay will elaborate on analyzing assets and drawbacks resulting from the spread of English.
First of all, it is no denying that English is an invaluable facilitator for communication between people with different language background. There are indeed various languages all around the globe, and assuredly, having a mutual language would be an impetus for abolishing communication barriers and stimulating interaction. On many formal situations, such as in businesses, international universities or scientific conferences, English plays a role as a working language, helping mitigate the misunderstanding and reinforce the efficiency. Moreover, it is also lucrative in cases of informal contacts, typically when a foreigner arrives in an exotic country. Besides, with the aid of this global language, the transference of know-how and technologies would be accelerated.
Nevertheless, as every coin has two sides, the emergence of English is also likely to impel linguistic and cultural imperialism, a menace to the linguistic and cultural diversity. Some ethnic minorities, when initially integrating into the majority speaking English, have the potential to desert their ancestors’ languages and shift to use the prevalent one. On the other hand, as mainstream media recognizes English as its principal language, most of the products broadcasted would reflect the lifestyle, norms and thinking of people in English-speaking countries. Hence, ethnic groups would gradually adopt the novel culture, and over time, it could end up putting a host of minority cultures on the verge of extinction.
From what have been discussed, one can conclude that the advantages that English brings could overbalance its drawbacks. Definitely, English will be enormously salutary to the union of a modernized world, though it could jeopardize the diversity of languages and cultures.

Với hai bài task 1 nữa ạ:

    Report 1:
The pie charts compare the compositions of domestic spending in United States in two years 1966 and 1996. From the charts, it is evident that there are some changes in expen***ure on some items.
The first chart reveal that expenses on food and cars made up the majority of the total home expen***ure in 1966, with 44% spent on food and 23% spent on cars. As for the remainder, 9% was the outlay on petrol, and 10% was expended on purchasing furniture, whilst costs of eating at restaurants and buying books constituted 7% and 6% respectively. Using computers had the smallest outgo, namely 1% of the household budget.
From the second chart, it is clearly seen that the proportion of expen***ure used for food in 1996 plummeted compared with that in 1966, to only 14%. Nevertheless, that for cars doubled, reaching 45% of the total. Moreover, Americans spent more on eating out (14%) and kept the expen***ure on petrol and furniture almost at the same level. On the other hand, their spending on computers rocketed, multiplying tenfold to 10%, while that on books plumped by six times to just 1%.
In brief, the general trend in American households was spending less on food and books to pay the costs of computers, cars and eating at restaurants.

    ------------------------
    Report 2:
The pie charts compare the educational level that women accomplished in Someland in two year 1945 and 1995. From the chart, it is evident that women in Someland achieved a far higher of education in 1995 than that in 1945.
The first chart reveals that in 1945, women uneducated and women only going to third grade shared the equivalent proportion, namely 35% of the total. The rate of women ending school in year 6 stood at 15% whilst those completing lower and upper secondary school constituted 10% and 4%, respectively. Especially, only 1% of women were enrolled in first degree, and almost no one was able to study for post-graduate.
From the second chart, it is clearly seen that all women had finished lower secondary, though there were still 10% stopping schooling at that point. 20% of women ceased their education after finishing secondary school, tantamount to the percentage of those fulfilling post-graduate studies. Notably, half the number of females had graduated from an initial degree.
In brief, the period of five decades from 1945 to 1995 experienced a huge development in the female education of Someland.

    1. What are newspapers like in your country?
Erm, well, I suppose there are several kinds of newspaper which are suitable for each age. For example, some newspaper such as Tien Phong, Nhi Dong… are written for children. They have information about the good students and typical activities in school. In ad***ion, Health and Family newspaper, Phu Nu newspaper… are read by the women. These newpapers give them some ways to cook many delicious dishes, and teach them how to choose clothes and cosmetics…In contrast, Nguoi cao tuoi newspaper is for the elder people. It contains some diseases that the elder usually acquires, such as stroke, diabetes; and the drugs they often use to treat those diseases… Besides, there are some newspapers are written for each occupation. They are Cong an nhan dan, Nong thon ngay nay…
<FONT class=imageattach face=[/IMG]2. Tell me some of the rules about talking that children in your country learn, such as when they can talk and when they can’t.
Well, my mother is a teacher and one of the things she often teach me is not to talk with no subject when talking to elder people, such as parents, grandparents…In ad***ion, it is dangerous for children to talk much to a strange person. I was also taught that it’s impolite to shout obscenities, and that we should say beautiful words – you know, especially when clients visit our home. I think children are taught to keep silent when they are eating, that it’s rude to speak much when chewing or spiting foods in the mouth. Moreover, there are some occasion I come to my relatives’ houses, my mother always reminds me to greet loudly- you know, saying ‘ Hi uncle’, ‘Hi aunt’…

    3. What effects do you think using computers could have on children’s writing skill?
Well I think if we use computer more frequently, our speed of writing will faster but we can’t have chance to practice calligraphy and our writing will become worse and worse. You know- the calligraphy not only teach us to write but also help us practice the presentation of an article, so if children use Microsoft Word, it has tools to help them and they don’t have to present the text themselves in the way that people do who don’t use computers. Moreover, there is the effect that emails have on writing – I mean, people usually use symbols and characters to express their emotions, such as their happiness, sadness... Therefore if children only send emails, their ability to use language in the writing will be limited.
