Em Thanh Son E55 nop bai writting task2: topic "money on space research"

With the advantage of human civilization, there are an increasing number of people who have raised doubt about whether governments spend money on space research has brought enormous benefits to mankind. However there also some people strongly take the view that this money should be more useful in other application. From my own perspective, all these purposes have brought benefits to citizens.

The experience of researching space is beneficial for mankind. Human can enrich their space knowledge, we have known about the action of earth, black hole, the sun… we also have predicted the weather, which have been researched on space. For example, thanks to satellites and the prediction of weather, Philippines islands are crossed by many storms every year could reduce damages from storm disasters. Another advantage of spend money on space research is find a new home for mankind, nowadays, every nation recognize that the earth mother is being destroyed, the population is higher and higher every year, many skyscrapers are mushroom, over crowed in the big cities, which lead all the government to find solutions in long term. As a result, the researches on space to find new home planet is one of the best considered solution. For example, in 2005, America found out in the Mar having same temperature con***ions, air and water in the earth. Since then, The America continuously researches space to find the way to get there.

The second view, different from above, Money should be spent in other application such as education and medical care. Education is an important essential of a developed society. Lots of governments consider that illiteracy is the cause makes a nation weak and depressed, so that education always highly respected in any nations, particularly in developed countries. By sending children to school, children of poor family can have a better live. Also education guarantees a stable job for people. With a country, education can make a skilled workforce bringing high productivity. From these examples we can see that a nation with good education system can pave the way for economic development. Beside a developed education system, a society also needs a good medical care in order to improving the public. A nation with high quality of heath care and affordable medical service proof that nation is developed society. By providing the needy people with medical service, the citizen feel assured living and working in a country where they can be given medical service when unemployed, sick, injured or retired. So they can work more activity, even the work can affect to their health. By imagine, the undeveloped countries have poor medical care, these people cannot afford to buy drugs, they also suffer lot of diseases, they are less likely enjoying their living.

From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that the decision of spending money on space research or other application depend on the governments’ budget and purposes in order to bring benefits to citizens.

The graph provides information on the number of passenger journeys made in three system of railway in Great Britain from 50 to 2004. In general, these system undergo an unpredictable trend with national railway network and London underground far exceeding Light rail and metro system in the amount of journeys.
For example, for the first twenty years, there were downward fluctuations in the first system while a nearly stable trend was found in the later. About next following ten years showed a decreasing fluctuation in the both systems, followed by a similar upward erratic pattern in two systems as well with the 1980s and early 2000 seeing remarkable. Interestingly,at times, national railway was overtaken by London underground.
By contract, after a slight fall for the first seven years, Light metro, appearing in about 1963, climbed dramatically to a peak of approximately 200 million in 2004, a figure which was still about 5 time lower than those of two former systems.
In brief, three systems end the period with an upward trend, and only in early 1980s did all of them hit a low.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The graph presents information about how many trips on railway systems in Great Britain were made by passengers over the period of 1950 and 2004/05. It is noticeable that the overall trend shows fluctuation of three networks with sharp increase since the mid of 1980s.

Between 1950 and 1980, the number of journeys on the first two systems followed a similar downward trend. To be specific, National rail network’s numbers plunged from 1000 to 650 million, as well as London Underground’s trips gradually decreased to the lowest point of 500 million in 1985. Contrary to the former period, both of these networks experienced new movement of recovering and increasing. By 2004/05, figures on these systems peaked at 1.1 billion trips on National rail network and nearly 1 billion trips on London Underground.

In case of Light rail and metro systems, the number of journeys started at a low point of 50 million in 1965 and unfortunately slowly dipped to nearly zero by the year 1980. Meanwhile, the next phase witnessed its considerable change by reaching the peak of 200 million trips in 2004/05.

Overall, it is estimated that there will be more and more railway journeys made by passengers in Great Britain in the future.

How far do you agree?
In recent years, the development of the space technology is becoming hotspots in many science forums and there are different opinions about the spending money on this purpose. Some suggests that using the money for the intention of analysis space is advantages, however others do not agree like that.
One of the positive effects of investing in studying space is that we can explore our universe by modern applications such as spacecraft, satellite… On the other hand, the technologies that put a man on the moon, inventing shuttles and the station will be able to built-in space has been awfully familiar in life of the earth. In ad***ion, thousands of the space research institute is established around the world to go into motions of the planets, help people to conquer cosmic mystery. Inside, the professional promotion also shows the power of national which most of developed countries now want to achieve.
Beside the advantages of the paying money on the looking into space activities, there are some disadvantages in it. First, it is so new for the big investors to sponsor, adding many risks that the biggest risk is regarding people, someone were died when the study participants. There are some adverse impacts of human life when the mysteries of the universe can bring dangers as the appearance of aliens, so can make the finance losses. Another point is that the cost of the study is very large, so it is needed steady source of investments, only the economic potential powerful can afford to invest in this field. In spite of using much money for space scrutiny, economic incentives have not been driven so far.
After careful consideration of the above perspectives, I, personally, agree with one said that spending on space science is the upper hand, as benefits from the research is very large in which the increasing knowledge of people is very important. However, I do not against that there are some drawbacks in this major.
From what has been discussed above, we may finally draw the conclusion that the good points and the bad points of paying money for space analysis are shown clearly, from that we must have got beneficial reforms in the present and in the future.

It can be clearly seen that in the first half of period shows gradually decline of the passenger and until 1980, the trends shows constantly increase of all networks.
Between 1950 and 1980, the number of passenger used National rail network and London underground had the similar downward trend. For instance, the first system started at 1000 million journeys in 1950 and fell back to the lowest point at 600 millions in 1980. Similar to this is the case of London underground when the user collapsed from 700 to 500 millions. Nevertheless, at the end of period, both systems seemed to be recovered and passed the start point, especial on the London underground which were reached a peak at nearby 1000 million trips.
Although, there is a small part of passenger used light rail & metro systems in 1980, however, approximately 200 million peoples chose this method in 2004/05.
This is the end of my report .

TASK 1 - TEST 2

The tables and pie chart involve the result of the survey of a new shopping complex in Aukland, Newzealand. The tables compares the result of the male and female about the shops and restaurants while the pie chart only show the proportion of the result about design. However, it clearly seen that most of people satisfied with the shopping complex.
The first table shows the review about the shops. The female who are very satisfied is twice times as many as the male but the number of males satisfied with the shops are bigger than the female’s one. Besides, the number of males and females dissatisfied are equal. The bigger number of people who have no comment belongs to the male.
The result of the restaurants is shown in the second table. Whilst the female very satisfied is more than the male, the result of satisfied is in contrast.but this trend appear again in the column of dissatisfied and no comment.
From the pie chart, it is obvious that the result about the design show on it connected to two tables and show th common trend of the total result. The largest piece is owned by the people satisfied. The second belong to the very satisfied one. And the other two groups have two approximate pieces.
This ends my report.

Em Phạm Thị Ánh, E55 nộp bài Writing Task 2: The money spent on space research has brought enormous benefits to mankind, but is could be more usefully applied. How far do you agree?

As one of the most important area of the 20th century, space exploration has many advantages for mankind. However some people believe that Government really should pay more attention to other applications.

Firstly, one of the familiar complains that: “ the money really ought to be spent down here instead of up there” in countries where have development space exploration particularly and whole the world generally. In fact, space researches improve knowledge of people about other planets in Universe beside the Earth. In ad***ion, we will able to expand living environment when the Earth becomes more and more lacking of spaces. Take for example, man has set foot on the moon to find out lives beside Earth. Although there are not any existences of life, it was breakthrough in space science. Furthermore, the scientists can use satellites to not only monitor the pressure of wind and temperature but also forecast climate of Earth more properly. It is really helpful for mankind.

However the government also should spend more money on other fields such as education, health care, infrastructure, etc. Nowadays illiteracy, poverty are still difficult problems to solve in many countries even the developing countries as American, England, Germany,… especially in terms of poverty, the gap between the rich and the poor in these countries is increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to invest in these aspects of society.

In conclusion, from my point of view, both of space research and other fields play important roles in development of a nation.
