Technology is made by people for their own use and there is no exception with radio. Radio broadcasting had already been the most convenient and popular information-provided channel before the invention of television. With the rapid development of other more modern mass media, especially computer and internet, radio slightly become obsolete. In my opinion, in the future, radio would be completely forgotten if there was no significant change.

Radio dominated the communication and entertainment of many older generations long time ago. A hot news, a beautiful song or even a meaningful story was truly and simultaneously transmitted to every audience. But radio only satisfied people’s ear, their hearing. The appearance of TV, high-speed internet with modern computer changed all things. People are satisfied not only hearing but also watching, even feeling. People can know everything happening all over the world through only a screen. Young people can play games, enjoy the music and make some friends with only one mouse’s click. The information is transmitted to people with the easies, fastest, strongest way.

Another strong reason is lack of the option and update of radio broadcasting. With a radio, everyone only hear some channel from several different signal. The quality is over-depended in the stability of signal In the contrast, a television can bring to us many interesting channels with good quality of image and sound. At the same way, it is definitely a unstable comparison between radio and a computer equipped modern multimedia system and connecting internet. Moreover, people can choose their own good, better or best way to get the information.

Some people argues that radio will not become history in the future because its mobile and energy-saver. However, there are many multimedia device get enough ability to kick radio out, such as MP3 and MP4, even a mobile phone. All of them are very convenient to become an inseparable things of people. They are certainly energy-saver and very friendly environment without using single-use battery like radio.
The development of technology is an inevitable trend. Radio would be integrated to other multimedia equipment and become optimization gradually.

Text messages, emails and letters are everyday communication tools, although nowadays, text messages and emails appear to gain popularity while letters are used less frequently. The fears that writing skills will be attached with less importance are rooted mainly in the concern that the growing popularity of mobile phones and computers is about to make emails and text messaging much more popular. Such worries are unsupported.
Firstly, let us consider the reasons why writing letters is less frequent nowadays. This is because of modern technology. These days we are much more likely to email someone than write a letter. In ad***ion our business communications have become more informal than in the past. As a result a less formal style of writing is more acceptable. Other forms of communication such as text messaging have reduced our need to write letters even more.
However, in my opinion, there are times when there is no alternative to writing a letter. Letters are generally more formal and carefully composed than emails. This makes them more suitable for occasions when they are likely to be kept and re-read, perhaps several times, by the recipient, as with formal letters of thanks or sympathy. In letters provide a written record, unlike telephone calls, so they are also a better way of setting out an important or complex argument, as in the official complaints or legal matters. Moreover, that time is still very far when everyone will have a computer and internet connection. Till that time letter writing can never disappear.

So, it can be seen that letter writing is a very important skill to learn because there are many parts of the world where it is very important to be formal. This is particularly true if you are involved in international business. Because of globalisation the business world is becoming more and more international and it is not always possible to pick up the telephone to talk to people. Consequently I believe that letter writing will never die out completely. And even though these letters may be written on computers rather than by hand we still need to learn and practise this skill.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} *****m up, the examples that are outlined above have apparently overturned the prevailing notion that writing skills will vanish sooner or later as a result of the increased use of text messaging and emails. Written communication requires a good understanding of the rules of language, such as grammar, vocabulary and tone. Without a good command of those writing skills, a communicator will encounter many awkward situations in daily communication.

Working from home with the help of telephone lines , Internet , fax , scanners , or in other words telecommuting has become very popular . Some assert that only workers , not the employers , can be beneficiaries of telecommuting . Personally , I can not go along with their view.
Telecommuting can bestow numerous benefits upon the employees . First of all , distance between their work place and their place of residence has never ceased to be a problem . It saves time as no time is wasted commuting to and from the office . Moreover it also saves money as no spending on private or public transport has to be done , simultaneously reducing a large amount of emissions to the environment .
Secondly , employees do not have to live with the constant fear that their boss may look over their shoulders , as their work is supervised from far away . They can "slack off" a bit when the work-induced stress is too intense to bear . Similarly important is that , by working at home , the workers can manage their time on their own and strike a balance between work and family .
However , it would be erroneous if we fail to acknowledge the advantages telecommuting can confer on the employers . It is a fact that land prices are exorbitant and it is very expensive to build large offices or maintain it . Hence , less office space is needed as the workers are working from home . Then, it has been seen that workers works wholeheartedly , thus boosting their productivity . This is also beneficial for employers .
In conclusion , with the factors listed above , telecommuting benefits both workers as well as employers .

Em Thùy Linh E59 nộp bài ạ!
Topic 18: do you agree that modern technology has given us more leisure time before?

In the human history, development of technology has made many changes for human life. One of the most controversial issues today relates to technological and leisure time. Some people presume that the more modern technology is, the more much leisure time people has but I do not consent to this point. As far as I am concerned, the busier life has been a corresponding result of the tremendous advance in modern technology.

Admittedly, modern technology has brought many approaches to solve one problem so it has been not necessary to waste more time on compulsory activities. For examples, many factories have used automatic machine to replace human resources. It goes without saying that the work efficiency has increased and the owner would earn more money. There are a large many of people who presume that this trend is attributed mainly to competition and fears of job loss, causing people have to learn more and more after work in order to use those modern technologies and find out better job. It comes at the cost of their leisure time.

In ad***ions to this point, the line between work and private life has been much more blurred. Let me take the internet for an example. In the previous centuries, people had to work face in face if they wanted to make a debate on business work, even went abroad. Nowadays, thanks for Internet access and some advanced software as video conference or chat, the world have become accessible to people and one can perform many tasks at everywhere and let their fingers do the walking. It means that people can check mail or report about work while the day- off time, even while doing chores.

According to the facts outlined above, it is not easy to find an exact conclusion for this point. Whether one likes it or not, technology has been increasingly more modern and it has locked them in a struggle to cope with more tasks in daily lives.

topic 20: there is a disagreement on the impact of increased business and culture contact between countries on a country’s identity. What is your opinion?
Nowadays, the global trend has tended countries to connection each other over the world. That leads to effects on identity of a country. There are appreciations that those effects are serious one and may mislay value of identities. That should be seen at several aspects.
The open-door policy tends to global trend. This policy allows citizen of its country to connect with others over the world through business, travel, study abroad, and so on. In one way or another, culture of these countries is affected. Culture is a precious gift created by features of its own country. That distinguishes a country from others deeply. Before travelling to another country, foreigner must find out about indigenous culture first to know new behavior, new lifestyle and completely new culture and may learn them. Culture illustrates a country’s image. Hence, the government and citizen have to pay more attention to protect and preserve their cultural identities. These create beautiful imagines for this country in foreigners’ eyes so they bring many benefits from business and tourism. In sum, everyone always wants to conserver and bring into play their culture to give precious value for others and distinguish from other country’s identity.
On the other hand, life is more and more modern and complex, some features made culture might be eclipsed or even remove such as tra***ion, custom…because they’ve been regarded as stuffy things. People want to learn new things as different culture. In some countries, the locals have become accustomed to exotic cultures through media or direct business. Those may be bad effects because those contrast and against with their cultural identity such as ***, violent. Bad cultures remise and permeate to the locals can take away and forget their country’ identity. However, those are only appeared by some people limited awareness.
Indeed, increased connection between countries in the domains of business and culture can bring advantage and disadvantage. In my point of view, that may be lead to be more advantage because of majority’s awareness about conserving country’s identity.

TOPIC 1: INCREASING TRAVELS BETWEEN COUNTRIES ENABLE PEOPLE TO LEARN DIFFERENT CULTURES OR TO INCREASE TENSION BETWEEN PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES?

It is now very easy to travel form a country to another once. Some of us find that a part of what we call globalization. People nowadays travel a lot, far and fast. They bring their knowledge, their culture and their ways of living to their destinations. Some of them even bring culture of a far far away land back to their country. And could I say that, the significant increase of traveling between countries enable people to learn different cultures or increase tension between peoples from different country?
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
The increase of global traveling brings both opportunities and challenges to mankind. It may enable people to learn different cultures or increase tension between peoples from different country. But it also could make some culture disappear forever.
