Topic 17: There are social, medical and technical problems associated with the use of mobile phones. What form of these problems take? Do problems of using mobile phones outweigh the benefits?

Mobile phone is now present in almost parts of the world, especially in rich and wealth countries. However, along with the benefits it brings, it is assumed that the problems associated with this smart apppliance, including social, medical and technical problems ,are not small matters.
In terms of society, mobile phone, on the one hand, connects people to stick together and makes the world have no distance. On the other hand, it is the reason of the separatioin of family members. In this technology era, just a phone call is possible to ask whether each other is healthy or not instead of face to face. In schools, using mobile phone also causes distraction of students from learning in classes. Children are easily prone to be attracted by games in the phone and send messages to girlfriends or boyfriends instead of focusing on study. In some public areas, the use of mobile phone has been prohibited because of the noise from its volume of ringing and user’s speaking.
It is also proven by scientists that using cell phone regularly will degrade our health. Electromagnetic waves of mobile phones prevent brain from developing normaly and influence the operation of some other body parts . Another downside of mobile is the obsession it brings. Sometimes we feel like hearing the phone rings and vibrates even it does not. Moreover, taking a phone call when driving is dangerous and easily comes to collisions. Mobile phones sometimes are responsible for higher rate of road accidents.
Although these disadvantages deserve the great attention of several people, mobile phone has never deceived people’s expectation. Its multi-functions and designs satisfy human desire, allowing people to not only call and take a call but also send files, browse Internet, store information, make a webcam call, calculate, experience multimedia entertainment and so on. The phone now becomes more stylish, lighter and sometimes it shows the users’ level. Mobile becomes familiar with us to the point if even somedays we go out without a phone, we will feel uncomfortable and unconfident.
There can be no doubt that mobile phone still make a steady stand through decades. Given those suggestions, the mobile phone, despite its unsolved problems, is hoped that it will continue to perform its leading role of technology.

However, there is no denying that everything has more than one face and mobile phone is no exception. In fact, nowadays some people are in alarm that there are social, medical and technical problems related to the using of mobile phone, and that the drawbacks of mobile phones outweigh the benefits.
Admittedly, the mobile phone is a problem in some public places. Let’s imagine when the phone ringing in cinemas, school lessons, libraries, hospitals… cause disturbance to others indeed. In ad***ion, some people are not aware that others can hear their conversations, and then, they talk so loud. Clearly, speaking at increased volume is considered impolite or even offensive. This is the first consequence that can be seen by every person, but not everybody can understand the second thing that mobile phones may interfere with electronic equipment to cause tragic accidents. It is argued that the electromagnetic waves emitted by cell phones could lead to a malfunction for an airplane's equipment systems or create considerable static electricity that heats the surrounding air to cause an explosion in the gas station. These waves could also cause cancer or damage to our brains, although evidence to date is inconclusive, but there is a direct linking between using a phone and the driver’s concentration due to the fact that motorists have a much higher risk of losing control of vehicle when driving and talking on the phone simultaneously. Last but not least, phones are a popular target for thieves.
Regardless of consequences, the majority of people use mobile phones, day in, day out; because the mobile phones have revolutionized the way we communicate: we can stay in touch with family, friends and colleagues wherever we are. Hence, without them, people will not keep in touch with others easily and even be in isolated. Therefore, as the most popular fashion accessory, the mobile phone has proven indispensable in today’s world.
Based on the above discussion and analysis, we can see that there are problems arising in using the mobile phone. However, the advantages always dominate over these drawbacks, because thanks to the mobile phone, our life become more easily than did the generations before.

In the modern, immigrants is considered by effect of immigration to local culture where they settle .There are several different judgment and assessment about immigration Immigrants should observe a little of local culture to adapt to a new environment . However , they also can establish a minority community to coexist .
As you know, immigrants have to face with much difficult such as difference of language, culture , traffic, and so on. Actually , Everything are unfamiliar and unexpected with new life on the foreign land so it will become more difficult to ingrate foreign peron into indeginous community . On the other hand , immigrants need to have a good acquaintance with workplace where Locals predominantly work. For example, in viet nam , Everyone must to keep to the right when joining traffic whatever vehicle or car so it is extreme dangerous when a foreign person settle in viet nam that do not know this order. As for me , a immigrant should recognize and observe local conventions. It help avoid embrassment and confusion.
While adopting local customs and blending into local culture , a immigrant can keep tra***ional culture which they interacted from childhood .the coexistence of both local and tra***ional culture make a multi culture environment which is indispensable in a Nation and it is prerequisite to attract skilled workforce from all over the world to settle . Moreover, It help you survive by culture shock and Stress
By the Ideas metioned above we can conclude that immigrants can adopt local convention and preserve their own culture simultaneously .This both are mutual affection to co-build a harmonious multi culture community .

Of course, Tourism has been closely connected with culture from when it started because culture of regions are different , always evoke curiosity and excite discovery. To understand link between Tourism and Culture, we must examine two sides of effect. Therefore, this essay will elaborate on both positive and negative effects of tourism from a culture perspective.
- To be able to assert that If there isn’t culture value , tourist industry of nation won’t have the potential for growth. However, tourism is also a way to protect culture. Firstly, one of positive effect is that tourism help expand values of culture product . For example If there isn’t tourism , visitor in over the world won’t know Ha Noi with millennium year civilization, historical monuments in Ha Noi such as the one pillar pagoda, Ngoc Son Temple, Temple of Literature,.....etc. Secondly, Tourist activities help conserve and maintain permanently cultural values Which is being buried in oblivion, destroyed by time and oblivion of local people. The evidence is Money earn from tourism can be used to repair or improve historical sites. It also help governments carry out campaigns to promote their culture such as holdind festival, advertising famous heritages on television.
- On the other hand, Tourist activities also have negative effect on culture. Firstly, Tourism have penetrated into community to commercialize value of indigenous culture. Today, It is noticeable that more and more hotels, rest houses, restaurants is around temple and pagoda where is very holy. Huong pagoda, Tay Ho pagoda, Yen Tu mountain, Hung King temple ... in festive season are typical examples. Secondly, tourism affects lifestyle of local people and to make loss of cultural value which is deeply in their mind. Nowaday, to go up Sapa , visitor can see ethnic boys and girls speak pigin English better than mother language.
- Form what have been discussed above, one can conclude that tourism is neither a boon nor a bane to culture. This important thing is we should amplify its good influences and limit another sides. If we can not do any thing, it has put the integrity of a culture at risk.

The table describes the turnover of a small restaurant in a week from October the 7th to 13th. As can be seen, the table illustrates a slight variation in the number; however in general, the sales for dinner were always much more than those for lunch in everyday of the week described.
More specifically, during the week of October 7th – 13th, the lunch sales were approximately $2,400 on average. Starting at $2,400 on Monday, the number witnessed a very slight increase, reaching a peak at nearly $2,600 on Wednesday. The number continued to remain high on Friday at $2,500 before falling dramatically at weekend, ending at just over $1,500 on Sunday.
In terms of the dinner sales, each day they generated from $1,000 to $1,500 more than the lunch ones. The number remained stably at about $3,600 from Monday to Thursday, reaching a peak at nearly $4,400 at Friday before declining significantly to $2,900 on Saturday and just under $2,500 on Sunday.
On the whole, the most profitable day of this restaurant during the second week of October was Friday and the least one was Sunday.

The table reveals the sales at this small restaurant in a downtown business district during the week of October 7th to 13th followed a fairly set pattern from Monday to Friday and then showed notable shift on the weekend.
During the week of October from 7th to 14th, the lunch sales averaged at approximately $ 2,400. The highest lunch sales occurred on Wednesday with $2,595 and the lowest occurred on Sunday with $1,550 so the lunch sales were approximately $ 1,000 less than the average lunch sales during the rest of the weekend.
Beside during sales, which generated at least $1,000 to $1,500 more a day than lunch sales, also remained steady during the week. Just like the lunch sales while the dinner sales peak on Friday and dipped down for the weekend.
Excluding Wednesday and Thursday, the lunch and dinner sales from October 7th – 11th rose gradually until the end of the business week, only the Monday the sales were slightly lower.
From the table, it is clear that this restaurant has a steady lunch and dinner crowd. The most profitable day during the second week of October was Wednesday and Friday. At the weekend, were the least profitable days, with the full day’s sales total approximate Friday dinner sales. The number were reflective of a restaurant that is located in a financial district where business times were Monday through Friday.

Topic 18

With the advance of technology, there are an increasing number of people who have raised doubt about whether people’s leisure time is more than before. As far as I am concerned, along with the development of modern life people have become increasingly busied with dozens of tasks that modern technology has bought. There are many reasons that can verify this.
Admittedly, thanks to modern technology, great and versatile equipments have been taken into works as well as daily life to replace the labor, so people can save time for compulsory activities (for example: work, housework …) but it should be noted that technological development accompanied by the growth of human life and human requirements are also higher. For instance, to get good jobs and larger competitive pressure, people need high knowledge and full the necessary skill. As a result, instead of relaxing, people’s after-work life will be intended mainly for non-compulsory activities such as learning. Moreover, educational programs and study handouts in TV or internet are very popular and people access them easily. Thus, they spent lots of time for them and it comes at the cost of their leisure time.
The second thing that must be taken into consideration is that people’s life become increasingly dependent on modern technology, perhaps this is because of the simple fact that the advance of technologies are ubiquitous and this is also a reason that people’s leisure time is affected serious. It is noteworthy that nowadays, internet can connect global and a worker can work with other person everywhere by internet while they stay at home, go travel or do private things... In ad***ion, instead of doing housework everyday (such as shopping, go to market…) as it can be done with a single click, workers must complete daily tasks since internet connection is always available. Therefore, the line between work and private life is much more blurred, with many workers shopping, checking private emails and reading newspaper online even when working.
Based on the above discussion and analysis, we can see that the proliferation of new modern technology has huge impacts on people’s leisure life and it has locked them in a struggle to cope with more tasks in daily lives.
