When you open the Fonts folder in Windows Explorer, the following commands may be missing from the Fonts folder menus. On the File menu: (Khi bạn mở thư mục Fonts trong cửa sổ đôi Windows Explorer, những lệnh sau đây khả năng bị mất từ thực đơn (danh sách) của thư mục Fonts. Trên thực đơn File.

CAUSE (Nguyên nhân)
This behavior can occur for any of the following reasons:
· The System and Read Only attributes are no longer set for the Fonts folder. The Fonts folder must have its System and Read Only attributes set to work correctly.
· The Fontext.dll file may be missing or damaged, causing the menus to contain only the commands for a generic folder.
· The Desktop.ini file may be missing or damaged. Note that you do not see the Desktop.ini file when you view the Fonts folder. To see the file, open an MS-DOS session and view the WindowsFonts folder.
RESOLUTION (cách giải quyết)
To restore the correct commands for the Fonts folder, follow these steps: (Để hồi phục các lệnh chính xác cho thư mục Fonts, làm theo các bước sau)
At a command prompt, switch to the Windows folder by typing the following command: (Tại dòng lệnh nhắc của DOS thật, chuyển đến thư mục Windows bằng việc gõ theo dòng lệnh)
cdwindows (Change Directory: chuyển thư mục)
NOTE: If Windows is installed in a folder other than the Windows folder, adjust these instructions accordingly. (chú ý: Nếu Windows đã đuợc cài đặt trong 1 thư mục khác với thư mục Windows , nên chỉnh lại những lệnh này. Ví dụ thư mục sẽ là Windows.000)
Type the following command: (gõ theo dòng lệnh sau)
attrib +s +r fonts
Shut down and restart Windows. (Tắt máy và khởi động lại)
NOTE: You cannot set the System attribute for the Fonts folder within the graphical user interface. (Chú ý: chú mày ko thể đặt thuộc tính Hệ thống (System attribute) cho thư mục Fonts với giao diện đồ họa người dùng ???. GUI

If the commands for the Fonts folder are not restored, the Fontext.dll file may be missing or damaged. To replace the Fontext.dll file, use the steps in the appropriate section below. (Nếu các lệnh cho thư mục Fonts ko hồi phục, thì file Fontext.dll có thể mất hoặc bị hư hại (do virus chẳng hạn). Để thay thế file Fontext.dll, làm theo các bước sau đây.
Windows 95/98
- Restart Windows in MS-DOS mode. (Khởi động Windows trong chế độ DOS thật)
- Change to the WindowsSystem folder.
- If the Fontext.dll file exists, rename it Fontext.old.
- Extract a new copy of the Fontext.dll file from the original Windows disks or CD-ROM to the WindowsSystem folder.

Restart Windows normally.
If the issue persists, the Desktop.ini file may be missing or damaged. To replace the Desktop.ini file, follow these steps:
Restart Windows in MS-DOS mode.
Change to the WindowsFonts folder.
If the Desktop.ini file exists, rename it Desktop.old.
Extract a new copy of the Desktop.ini file from the original Windows disks or CD-ROM to the WindowsFonts folder.

Restart Windows normally.

Thôi, tôi ngại dịch lắm. Vả lại tôi hết tiền ngồi dịch vụ rồi. Tóm lại cách làm cho Win9x:
1. khởi động vào DOS thật (lúc khởi động bấm F8, chọn Command Promt), vào thư mục Windows (lệnh cd windows)
2. đặt thuộc tính Read Only và System cho thư mục FONTS (lệnh attrib +r +s fonts)
3. đổi tên tập tin fontext.dll trong thư mục C:Windows System thành fontext.old (dùng lệnh F6 trong NC để đổi tên hoặc lệnh REN trong DOS để đổi tên)
Copy lại tập tin đó từ file Win98_29.cab trong bộ cài Windows (dùng 1 trình giải nén trong Windows copy ra) vào thư mục kể trên
4. đổi tên tập tin desktop.ini (nếu có tập tin đó) trong thư mục C:WindowsFonts thành desktop.old (dùng lệnh F6 trong NC để đổi tên hoặc lệnh REN trong DOS để đổi tên)
Copy lại tập tin đó từ file Win98_50.cab trong bộ cài Windows (dùng 1 trình giải nén trong Windows copy ra) vào thư mục kể trên
5. Cuối cùng là khởi động lại máy.
Lưu ý là tất cả việc trên làm trong DOS thật
