This match represents both Milan's last defeat at home, and Fiorentina's last away victory. Milan's last home league victory came against Verona, in a 1-0 win on the 29th of April 2001. Continuing to look at last season, Fiorentina also knocked Milan out of the Coppa Italia, at the semi-final stage, having drawn the first leg 2-2 at the San Siro.

FIRSTS - Milan, in their last home league match last season, drew 1-1 with Brescia. This extended a run of 52 consecutive home league matches in which Milan have scored; the last blank being drawn against Napoli (0-0) on the 26th April 1998. Since then, Milan have scored some 111 times in 52 successive matches.

THE PRECEDENTS - Milan have played host to Fiorentina 63 times at the San Siro, winning 38 times (most recently 15th March 1997, 2-0 with goals from Desailly and an Albertini penalty), drawing 17 (most recently on the 9th of April, 2000; 1-1 with goals from Leonardo and Di Livio), and losing eight times ( most recently last season, 17th May 2001, 1-2; two goals from Chiesa, and one from Shevchenko).
