Fight a listening task with around 2 pages of transcript under the following steps:
    1. Listen for 3 times
    2. Check transcript
    3. Read it loud with correct pronunciation and strong intonation.
    4. Listen again.
    Good luck.

In accordance with your Instruction, to be honest, I always practise regularly, but at the same time I realize It''s not enough . We need right materials the most suitable for each difficult level of listening skill from elementary to advance.
I''ve just finished the book with the title " LISTEN CAREFULLY" ;After that, I have problem in choosing the next listening material because there''re at present so many ones.
    Somebody help me dissolve this
    Thanks ever so much.

    Dear nghingolam,
From my experience, we need to GO SLOW, so that we can absorb every syllable.
    Listen carefully and slowly.
    Everyday, little bit.
For that purpose, you can try VoA Special English. Step 1.
Step 2. Interactive conversation, for example, movie with transcript.
    Go over Step 1 carefully.
Step 3. Fast news reading, for example CNN, documentary on the Internet or Cable TV.
Sometimes, you don''t have to understand everything, just listen and your ears will get tuned in the speaker.
    Cheers,
    Kalique

    Dear,
The only thing I''d tell you: learn from the life, not from the books.
Book-style "fake conversations" will never get you somewhere near fluency.
They make every single sounds clearer, while natives DON''T.
And what are you aiming at? Listening to the tapes or real natives?
Go for the real-life materials like movies, news, podcasts... WITHOUT transcripts as soon as you could.
Something I''d recommend (much more out there, of course):
    - Sitcoms like Friends or Desperated housewives
    - CNN news, Larry King live podcasts
    - Fun english lessons at china232.com (excellent, I would say), and betteratenglish.com

I can''t agree well reasonably with these words.
There is no denying the fact learing from the life is ,of course, very necessary , but from my point of view , we at first need to have the surely fundamental knowlegde of vocabulary to get everything. And I''m not alone in this opinion, many (perhaps including you) consider this as the priority .The only way, you know, to save the vocabulary comes from interesting materials by practising routinely .
Looking forward to hearing you soon.
Thank a lot for your post.

Totally agree! But bear in mind that we''re talking about improving listening skill. We''re not talking about any "fundamental" kinda thing, are we?
From your well-structured posts, I could guess you''re at least at upper-intermediate level and the only thing you need is extensive exposure to the language. Real-life exposure, as I was saying.
I am going the same path, by the way.
