You can booo Pires all you like, but one of the main reasons he goes down so easily was his injury. He is not going to go in on a 50/50 hard tackle. He is going to go down easily. The injury scarred him mentally. He doesn''''t want to take the chance of getting hurt again. I accept this, because he is an exceptionally talented player. And, like Bergkamp when he is on his game, he takes us to another level offensively. I''''d rather have Pires going down to easily than see him injured again. He was the Footballer of the year!

Pires từng bị chấn thương rất lâu, sự nghiệp tưởng chừng như tiêu tan. anh sẽ k bao giờ tranh cướp bóng khi xác suất chỉ là 50/50. anh k muốn bị chấn thương nữa. điều chắc chắn sẽ chấm dứt sự nghiệp của anh. tôi chấp nhận điều này. vì rằng anh là một cầu thủ tài năng. cũng như Berg, khi anh chơi, anh đưa đội lên một tầm cao mới. dễ té ngã ư? tôi k cần. nếu chọn lựa giữa chấn thương và té ngã ... thậm chí là ngã vờ. k p suy nghĩ tôi cũng biết câu trả lời là gì.

i agree with stag on this one. Yes, Pires does tend to go down easily, but let''''s don''''t forget he''''s not physically as strong as Theirry or Paddy, he has to find a way to protect himself in the ever competitive English football, and especially after his injury. If you notice, Pire''''s game has changed a bit before and after the injury. While previously he would push the ball down the left wing byline and attempting a cross (or pull the ball back for the following up forwards), now he tends to drift middle. First, that would be allowing him to receive Henry''''s cross; and secondly, i have a feeling he''''s been avoiding the tackles and physically contract from more aggressive play (driving down the left flank).
Pires, like Henry and Bergkamp, has an intelligent football brain. I would rather to see him going down a bit easily, rather than to see him becoming a sicknote. Make no mistake, i hate diving as much as anyone else, but unlike some players who are purposingly looking for diving at any opportunity, Pires is NOT this type of player.

I said that some time ago. Yes due to what happen to him during the FA Cup, he is scared of hard tackles but I have to be honest and say sometimes he over do it. let be fair not cause he is a gunner.

Them days the tackles were hard. If we have some of the hard nuts ten year ago today, I promise 4 red cards each week.
