Reyes'' technical prowess is not in doubt. What impressed Wenger was the 20-year-old''s increasing comfort with the physical nature of the Premiership.
"He needs to get used to the physical side of the game and I believe he is improving in that way," said Wenger. "He is already much stronger in the fight, he uses his body more.
"I think in Spain he didn''t need to use his body because of his pace and his tricks. In England, you need pace, tricks and your body. That is what he is learning at the moment."
Equally encouraging was the interplay between Reyes and Thierry Henry. Their partnership is in the embryonic stage but there were signs that the duo are striking up an understanding.
