Hints for Making a Presentation
1. Make an outline of your presentation first: How will you start? What are your main ideas? What conclusion will u make? When u start, you want to get the attention of the audience, so try to say something interesting or humourous, or ask a question related to the topic. When u talk about main ideas, try to give examples, stories, and interesting details to keep the attention of audiences. Then give the summary at the end.
2. You should not write every sentence of ur presentation. It would be very difficult to read. Also, nobody to listen to a person who is just reading. A good idea would be to use an outline to help u remember the main ideas of what u want to say. Write these notes in large letter and very clearly, so that it is easy to read quickly.
3. Most important; practice ur presetation in front of a few friends who need to be honest and tell u when u are making mistakes. Are u going too fast or too slow? Is ur pronunciation is enough? R ur verb tenses correct? R ur ideas clear?
4. When u r speaking to audiences, it''s very important to look at them not the floor or the ceiling. Don''t look at any place too long (e.g a very attractive and beautiful girl ) but keep ur eyes moving slowing to different areas of audiences. Use ur hands and body whenever u want to make it clear what u r saying. Try to move around a little, to change ur position (if not, u should take a chair to sit to let ur legs free ). Also, use body languages (face, arms, body movement) to help communicate ur ideas.
5. Don''t speak too fast. Clear pronunciaton is more important than speed. Don''t say uhmm or ahhh (if yes, pleas in English style ) Pausing for a second or two is fine and enough.
6. If the topic allows, speak ur true feelings. Say ur ideas wtih enthusiasm. Speaking from the "heart" will always easier and will flow more naturally. Also, make sure ur voice goes up and down (strong sentence stress). It sounds more interesting.
7. When u make mistakes, do not try to say it again if the meaning is still clear. If u r not sure people understand, then repeat the whole sentence like u was planning to do it.
