There has been much debate among general public on the question of what can be done to improve the quality of education. Some people believe that to achieve this aim, computers should be abandoned in schools. In my view, it is unreasonable because computers are an integral part of education thesedays.
In the first place, computers are the main tool accessing on the Internet that is a great source of information. Students can easily google to find what they need. At this point, I raise a question that do students receive enough information from their teachers alone? It is a pity that the answer is no. They gain their knowledge from not only teachers and school texts but also the Internet. Hence, computers are an indispensable tool for learning process.
Another important reason why the use of computers should not be banned in schools is that computers are also a computing tool in the true sense of the word. It is apparent that this is the most useful function of computers. With the help of computers, hundreds or thousands of operations are solved faster and more exact than any other method. For that reason alone, it not would be a good idea to eliminate computers from schools.
On the other hand, the idea of abandoning computers is based on scientific surveys showing that children who spent more time on computers in schools performed slightly worse in math than those who spent less time on them. Thus, the idea of eliminating computers from schools is supported, as evidenced by some computers'' bad effects on children.
All things considered, I hold the view that computers are necessary tools for the teaching and learning process. Although it is controversial, people now believe in the necessity of computers in schools. It is my strong belief that as the years pass by, with the assistance of computers people will gain great achievements in education.
