Perfectionist Vieri rallies Inter

Christian Vieri has claimed that Internazionale must improve in all departments to stand a chance of winning Serie A following their 1-1 draw with Venezia on Sunday. "No team is perfect," said the Italy striker. "Inter can still improve - in defence, attack, everywhere."

"We will have to fight hard to lift the Scudetto. It's a hard competition, and we must battle tooth and nail until the death. We've been together for six months and we've got a new coach and a lot of new players.

"However, we're not playing in the Champions' League, so we should have some energy in reserve."

The forward refuted claims that Inter are a one-man band. "The team does not depend on me. I just score, but everybody helps out."

Vieri set Inter on their way against Venezia when he scored his 14th of the season on the half-hour mark. Filippo Maniero equalised with a contentious penalty 20 minutes from time.

The dropped points meant Inter surrendered top spot to arch-rivals Roma.
