Just some issues that have been lingering on my mind for a while...

Are there such -concepts- like Privacy and Copy-right in Vietnam?

Sure, they -do- exist, and everyone know of them, about them and what they are, BUT, is it automatically -BUILT- into our minds? Like something I came across (a thread in the forum, that features a short piece of Sci-fi fanfiction, it is NECESSARY to give the author cre***s where they are due, -please no pun intended to the thread starter-). Such is, in Western society, copy right is IMPORTANT, and you could sue someone''s arse off if someone''s copyright is violated..but in Vietnam, even though there are now laws enforced, it''s just not something you AUTOMATICALLY question?

What I''m trying to say is..that issues like these are -vital- and should be put safely in our -tiềm thức-. At one point or another, we all should be aware of it. I was -shocked- to listen to my favourite Korean pop-song that I must have memorised in Korean, sung in Vietnamese..and truly realised how unaware our country is, to copyrights.

Another sensitive issue is -privacy-. The Vietnamese way of life is one that does not amplify privacy. I could name all the neighbours in my suburb, what they do, how many children they have, where they go to. Friends at school, I know what their parents do, their backgrounds..all of this. Noone actually cares to hide, and everyone knows everything. But living here, I realise that I know next to nothing about my friends'' parents. But I really couldn''t careless. How old I am, where I live, what my parents do, ect..ect.. Even though there is NOTHING to hide, it is just terribly unecessary, because really, what does it matter? A sense of -privacy- is often overlooked in Vietnam...does the next generation, our generation care about this issue?

Is it true that the Vietnamese just don''t really care to be private, or look and watch where copy-rights should be inserted?

Thank you for my mindless rambles,

    Sil.
