The New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships reflect the New Zealand Governmentâ?Ts commitment to deepening New Zealandâ?Ts educational partnerships with participating countries and regions. The New Zealand education system provides students with the knowledge and skills to achieve results equal to the worldâ?Ts best. The scholarship programme is about sharing this excellence with the rest of the world, and bringing the best from elsewhere to share their knowledge with New Zealand. Over the next two years the scholarship programme will be expanded progressively and renamed. From 2007, up to 100 doctoral and 100 undergraduate students will be studying under the programme at any one time. Up to 40 scholarships will be awarded for students undertaking doctoral study in the coming academic year.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a scholarship students must:
* Be international students
* Please note that citizens of Fiji may not apply for the NZIDRS until further notice.
* Hold an â?~Aâ?T average or equivalent in their studies to date
* Meet the requirements for entry into a research based doctoral degree programme at a New Zealand university. (Please note, this will include proof of English Language proficiency.)
* Provide: An Educational Credential Evaluation (ECE) Certificate. See â?~Frequently Asked Questionsâ?T for further information including contact details for ECE and exceptions.
* Provide evidence that they have been in contact with the relevant department of their chosen institution and discussed their proposed research, research interests and the availability of appropriate supervision.
* Hold one of the following English language test scores, achieved no longer than two (2) years prior to the time of application:
o An IELTS Academic Test with an overall score of at least 6.5 with no band less than 6; or
o A TOEFL test score of at least 575, including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English; or
o A score of 233 in the Computer based TOEFL, including an Essay Writing score of 4.5; or
o An overall score of 100 in the Internet based TOEFL; or
o Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) â?" Grade B; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) â?" Grade C
Applications will be considered from international doctoral students who meet the above criteria, including those who have already applied for entry to a New Zealand university. A limited number of scholarships are available to students already enrolled at a New Zealand university. Scholarship Value Scholarships are awarded for three years of full time study for a doctoral research degree. The scholarship funding covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance (NZ$1500 per month), a travel allowance (NZ$2,000), a health insurance allowance (NZ$600), and a book and thesis allowance (NZ$800). Recipients who are travelling to New Zealand in order to take up the scholarship are also entitled to receive an establishment allowance (NZ$500). Funds are not available *****pport accompanying dependants.
Selection Process
A selection committee of senior academics, appointed by Education New Zealand, will consider applications. Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
* The applicant has a record of sustained academic excellence, particularly in the chosen field of study, as supported by academic transcripts and letters of reference.
* The applicant has a well-defined research programme or research interests, and wishes to study at a New Zealand university with the expertise and resources *****pport that research.
* The applicant meets all eligibility requirements with appropriate supporting documentation.
Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of the selection process.
Terms and Con***ions of Awards
The following terms and con***ions apply to all scholarship holders:
* Scholarship holders must be enrolled for a research based doctoral programme of study at a New Zealand university. See â?~Guidelines for Applicantsâ?T for further information.
* The scholarship is con***ional upon gaining entry to a research based doctoral degree programme at a New Zealand university.
* Scholarship holders may not change their degree programme during tenure of the scholarship without written permission from their university and Education New Zealand.
* Scholarship holders may not simultaneously hold other scholarships funded by the New Zealand government. This includes, but is not limited to Commonwealth and NZAID Scholarships. See the â?~Frequently Asked Questionsâ?T online for further information.
* Scholarship holders are responsible for securing an appropriate entry visa to New Zealand and for any fees associated with the visa, including a medical examination. The offer of a scholarship does not guarantee that such a visa will be granted.
* Scholarship holders are permitted to undertake up to twelve hours of employment per week at their host university in a teaching or research capacity within their field of study.
* Scholarship holders must maintain satisfactory progress and good standing as stipulated by their host university and degree programme, or the scholarship will be withdrawn.
* Scholarship holders must follow the rules and regulations of their host university and degree
programme. Any suspension from the university will result in immediate suspension of the scholarship.
* Monthly stipends are not payable during suspensions, including suspension due to illness.
* Candidates who hold New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency may not apply under any circumstances. Should a recipient apply for permanent residency or citizenship during the tenure of their scholarship it will be withdrawn.
* A scholarship shall lapse in the event that a person to whom an award has been made fails to become admitted into their doctoral programme by the date set down by Education New Zealand in their letter of offer.
* Recipients shall comply with the Terms and Con***ions of the award in place for the year in which they applied.

Mỗi sinh viên đăng ký học chương trình Cao đẳng, Cao đẳng nâng cao, Đại học và Sau đại học tại trường Quản trị Khách sạn SHMS tại Thụy Sĩ sẽ nhận được quà tặng là 1.500 USD. Đối với sinh viên học Cao học sẽ nhận được quà tặng trị giá 500 USD. Đây là chương trình khuyến học duy nhất tại ASCI. Hạn nộp hồ sơ là 30/7/2007 cho khoá học chính khai giảng tháng 2/2008 . Đây cũng là hạn nộp hồ sơ cho khoá tiếng Anh khai giảng tháng 11/2007 và tháng 1/2008.
Bên cạnh việc học lý thuyết, mỗi năm sinh viên của trường còn có 4 ?" 6 tháng đi thực tập với mức lương khoảng 1.700 - 2.000 USD/tháng. The University of Tromsø has a research fellow position in Computer Science (systems research) vacant at the Faculty of Science. The period of the research fellowship shall be utilised for researcher education and shall normally culminate in the awarding of a PhD degree.
The Faculty of Science consists of: Department of Biology, Department of Physics and Technology, Department of Geology, Department of Computer Science, Department of Chemistry, Department of Mathematics and Statistics and Tromsø Geophysical Observatory.
The position is connected to the Department of Computer Science, which has 16 faculty positions, 5 adjunct professors, 16 PhD scholarships and 6 technical/administrative staff members. The research activities at the Department of Computer Science are primarily in system aspects of distributed systems.
The position is attached to the iAd (Information Access Disruptions) project at the University of Tromsø. iAd is one of the Research Council of Norway?Ts Centres for Research-based Innovation. iAd is hosted by FAST Search & Transfer, and has University of Tromsø, University of Oslo, NTNU, Cornell University, Dublin City University, Schibsted and Accenture as partners. It is required that the person employed in this position is doing research within the topic defined for the iAd project (http://iad.cs.uit.no/).
The iAd project targets core research for next generation precision, analytics and scale in information access. The successful candidate will be involved in developing the next generation run-time environment for this type of large scale systems. Key focus will be on developing and experimenting with pervasive, proactive distributed system that pushes high precision information to the end user.
The recipient must document excellent knowledge in Computer Science at Master?Ts level. We are looking for strong candidates with documented competence and interests within distributed systems. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in building large scale systems in an experimental context, in particular search based systems. Applicants should be proficient in software design, implementation and experimentation.
For the individual research fellow, a plan shall be drawn up, preferably within the appointment and at the latest two months after appointment, outlining how the research fellowship period shall be implemented with respect to both the research project and other researcher education. The main advisor for the PhD project will be Professor Dag Johansen. One or more other advisors will also be appointed.
The research fellow will be assigned teaching in Computer Science courses.
The normal period of appointment is four years, with 25 % obligatory duties per year. Previous appointments as research fellow or in other equivalent recruitment posts can be included in the period as a research fellow such that the total time for research education is three years.
The applicants will be evaluated by an expert committee. On the evaluation, the main emphasis will be placed on the applicant?Ts potential for research within the area described above, as it appears from the Master?Ts thesis or equivalent, and other scientific papers.
In ad***ion, consideration is taken to work experience and other activities that are important for completion of the doctoral programme and to any pedagogical qualifications. Experience from administrative and organisational work is regarded as positive. Information and materials that are to be considered in the evaluation must be submitted within the fixed deadline. Students who are in the process of completing their Master?Ts studies can apply within the deadline and ask to be considered under the assumption that their Master?Ts degree is granted.
The expert committee has, in collaboration with the Department, the opportunity to invite applicants to visit the Department in order to attend an interview and present their work. Names of references may be given.
The University of Tromsø wishes to recruit female researchers. In the event that two or more applicants are found to be approximately equally qualified, female applicants will be given priority.
The position is paid according to the State Salary Sale, Code 1017; present gross salary approximately NOK 316.000. Two percent of the salary will be deduced at source as an obligatory premium to the Norwegian State Pension Fund.
