Some suggestions for SEC Online Meeting

For people who have participated in the online meetings, you guys showed a great concern for SEC. Without your involvement, it would be difficult for SEC to grow and expand.

To encourage participation, there is basically no rule other than the requirement for on-time attendance and a working microphone. However, to ensure a fun and fair experience for all members, there should be few informal rules I''d like *****ggest.

Firstly, it''s very important that everyone respects one another. Because of the limited time we have for each meeting (approximately 1 hour), there would not be enough time for everyone to express his ideas completely. So please try to answer your questions concisely, somewhere between 1-3 minutes. Also, when a person is speaking, please be polite and do not interrupt. After he finishes talking, you can ask him your questions. You can have a pen and paper in handy to jot down some quick notes in case you forget what you want to ask later. For myself, I open Notepad and type anything interesting popped up in my mind during the meeting. That?Ts kinda interesting, huh ?

I?Tm really sorry if I made this suggestion sounds too serious. The main goal for SEC is to make new friends and to have fun. Learning English and exchanging our knowledge are secondary. (Is this right Ms. D?) So far I?Tve only attended 2 online meeting and I am already impressed by some peoplê?Ts English speaking skills. Bro Kany has a very good voice. Bro SillyBoy uses very ?oprô? vocabulary. And bro ViCam?Ts pronunciation is exceptional. It actually makes me feel ashamed of myself, for a guy living in US for over 10 years. Not only that, you guys also provided some very unique and interesting facts. Therefore, I?Tm very eager to meet other SEC members and hear what you want to say.

For people you haven?Tt attended a SEC online meeting yet, you are missing all the fun here. Come in and join us. Don?Tt be shy if you worry about your English speaking skill. English is our second (or third, or maybe fourth) language for all of us here so we all have problems using English. At SEC, we try to help each other to improve our English usage. Therê?Ts nothing to lose here, you can only gain For people making excuses to not attend SEC online meeting, shame on you! I?Tm kidding Please try to manage your time better to be able to join us. I have to wake up 2 hours earlier than normal to join the meeting. Trust me, for a ?opig sleeper? like me, it?Ts such "pain in the butt". But still, I cannot resist to miss the meeting. I?Tm dying to hear what you would say. Hehe, that?Ts a hyperbole. Don?Tt take it too seriously.

Well, I guess that?Ts all I want to say for now. Remember friends, our main goal is to have fun here

Though I was trying to get time to join with you guys, I still couldn''t enter for the 2nd and 3rd meetings and some more later until my plan completed. So, the idea above really hurts me dear. I was the 1st eager to join in, and then I also was the 1st silently left. Now I feel sorry to you all, SEC lovers, who were looking forward to my appearance Onspeak.

Thank you bro Tao_Lao and Ms. FJX for your kind words. My main goal for joining SEC is to meet and make new friends. I believe SEC is the place where I would find some of the brighest and friendliest people on TTVNOL community. And I have not been disappointed so far. One of the very first friends I made here is Gatihon. Even I''ve only known her for a short period of time, she is now my very close and dependable friend. I chat to Ms. Dimi a couple times and I already admire Ms Di for her leadership and commitment to SEC. I do not flatter. These people are so wonderful that I feel fortunate to know them. There are still a lot of nice people out there and I''m really eager to know you too.
To FJX: I don''t like the time of the meeting either. Maybe we should make an alternate meeting for people who cannot join at that time. Maybe we should have a debating party. The meetings we have so far are all about informing and observing. Debating is equally important, especially in the business world. Just an idea.

It seems to me that most of the online-meeting participants don''t want to be the host or to write the report. Friends, please look at this not as a responsibility, but an opportunity. I''m a very shy person in real life. Many times I just passed on opportunities to be the leader because I''m afraid I will do a bad job, I will screw up. Being a host on SEC, I have a chance to practice being a leader. Even though I''ve done a very sloppy work so far, I''m satisfied because I have more confidence in guiding a group.
About writing the report, I think most of you here are like me. When I first joined SEC, I was very skeptical to write anything. I was afraid that I would make some stupid grammar or spelling mistakes and people will make fun of me. Well, not anymore. I realize that SEC is a place to learn, so it''s perfectly normal to make mistake. And I rather make mistake here and have someone fix it, than not know about the mistake and do the wrong thing in the writing exam. So, write whatever you want as much as you can (of course the content has to be related to the topic and appropriate to the readers).
If you catch errors on someone else''s writing, please use your best manner and tell the person the mistakes he/she made. Or you can send a private message to that person. That way you can save him/her from facing embarassment. I bet that person would appreciate for your thoughtful help.
I know I''ve made several mistakes in this writing. Well, you are more than welcome to fix them and I''m thankful for that.
Anyway, just a couple more sugguestiions to improve our online meeting. If you have other suggestions, please feel free to post them here. If you think my ideas are stupid and I write too much, go ahead and tell me. Every opinion is welcome because at least you''ve particpated.

It is no need for me to repeat King''''s suggestions although those are what I wanna say also. Just one small comment, I think being a host of a group is so helpful for us to practise our leadership, management, controlling, and even cheer-up ability. Chairing a meeting is actually useful for us to practise English in both speaking and writing (report ). So try your best, don''''t be shy and you''''ll earn the best in SEC.
Every members have to chair the meeting in turn. That is our aim for SEC online meeting since we started this activity.
