Rolling block
Sau khi những viên đạn có hạt nổ ra đời, một loạt những khẩu súng mới với thiết kế phần kích nổ mới đã được sản xuất ra.
Một trong những thiết kế đó là kiểu Rolling block của hãng Remington.

Remington &Sons would later refer to rifles, carbines and shotguns utilizing this breech mechanism as "No. 1" firearms. Orders for military firearms from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Spain and other countries, as well as orders from the U.S. Army and Navy, spurred further development of the "rolling block." By 868, Remington was ready to offer civilian versions to the waiting public. the first "rolling block" rifles had one primary weakness - - they were chambered to fire only relatively impotent rimfire ammunition.

Trapdoor - Snider
Khoảng nửa đầu thế kỷ 19, một loại súng dài sử dụng đạn vỏ kim loại khá phổ biến được gọi là loại trapdoor (có khi gọi là snider). Theo tên gọi có thể hình dung đưọc một chút về loại súng này : để nạp đạn, người bắn cần mở một cơ cấu kiểu nắp lật ở cuối nòng. Phần "hậu" của súng thực sự bị mở toang hoác.
Nếu chú ý, ta có thể thấy những khẩu súng này có kim hoả hình kim (needle) , nhưng phần phát động kim hoả vẫn giống hệt của loại percussion.

Comblain rifle
In first the the 19 century 2nd half, Belgium, as the majority of the other European countries had an individual armament based on a model of rifle with percussion manufactured by the M.A.E. (Manufacture d''''armes of l''''Etat). However, the performances of Dreyse rifle to loading by the cylinder head (system with needle) reflect in obviousness the need for putting at the style of the day existing rifles. One chose then the principle Albibi-Braendlin (1867) which consisted in installing a cylinder head articulated on a transverse hinge. In 1868, an alternative conceived by the Terssen lieutenant-colonel was also adopted (opposite), director of the M.A.E. These systems intended to prolong the life old armament, were inevitably transitory. In 1869, new Comblain rifle with block falling, manufactured by house Dawdler and Co was subjected to severe tests. Finally accepted, it will be allotted into 1870 to the hunters and 1871 to the civic guard. The first models included/understood a case of cylinder head and a majority of phosphorous bronze parts. Later, all the parts will be out of steel

The trigger itself is located in a semi-cylindrical steel housing also containing the mainspring and sear assembly. Operation of the rifle is also unique. Pushing the trigger guard downward and forward (most easily accomplished by pushing through with the thumb of the trigger hand) slightly backs and lowers the breech block/hammer/trigger/spring assembly, which then rotates radially down and away from the chamber while both ****ing the hammer and extracting the cartridge case.

Peabody - Henry - Martini
Một loại súng trường cho quân đội của thế kỷ 19 có cơ cấu kích nổ khác là loại Peabody. Một số biến thể khác được biết đến nhiều do Martini và Henry chế tạo.
The Peabody rifle was the development of Henry O. Peabody of Boston, Massachusetts and initially patented in 1862, but fully developed too late to play any major role in the US Civil War. The basic patent relates to a heavy pivoting breech block, the front of which pivots down around a transverse fixed pin fixed through both the upper rear of the breech block and through the upper rear of the solidly built box receiver. Lowering the front of the breech block allows access to the chamber from above but, when elevated closed, transfers the force of firing to the rear of the receiver housing. In early models, the breech block was lowered via a handle above the wrist, e.g., the Roberts conversions of the US Springfield rifles and some British Enfield rifles. Later, this operation was moved to a lever under the action.
The Martini-Henry should more properly be called the Peabody-Martini-Henry as it is actually the Peabody pattern modified to a self-****ing hammerless design through the work (and patent) of Friederich von Martini of Frauenfeld, Switzerland, and the rifling design of Edinburgh gunmaker Alexander Henry (which rifling itself is a modification of Joseph Whitworth''''s work) .
It is fitted with a 2-piece stock, the forestock affixed with conventional barrel bands, the buttstock mounted to the back of the receiver with a massive screw running from beneath the buttplate to the receiver back.
