    Hi cả nhà,

    Summary:To provide the light output without fluctuation, an electronic ballast is developed to drive fluorescent lamps by constant instantaneous power. The electronic ballast mainly consists of a boost starter to generate a high ignition voltage and then a DC ballasting current. To avoid the damage of cathode filaments due to DC operation of the fluorescent lamp, a full-bridge inverter is used for commutation of the electrodes. The DC ballasting current is converted into an AC square waveform by the full-bridge inverter. Finally, the fluorescent lamp is driven by a constant instantaneous power and results in the light output without fluctuation. Experiments are carried out on a prototype of the electronic ballast designed for the T8-40W fluorescent lamp.

    Summary: Based on a comprehensive comparison of fluorescent lamp parameters of major lamp manufacturers, this paper presents an automatic lamp power detection method that can differentiate the lamp power of tubular T8 and T12 fluorescent lamps. This method can be easily incorporated into existing electronic ballast control so that the same electronic ballast design can operate different lamps at their respective rated power levels. With this patented method, a universal electronic ballast can be designed to operate the full range of T8 and T12 fluorescent lamps from 18 W to 70 W without any power mismatch problem. Design criteria and practical verifications are included to confirm the theory behind this lamp power detection method.

    Summary:This paper presents a low cost high power factor electronic ballast designed to drive two series connected fluorescent lamps. Low cost is achieved by using a single power processing stage based on a self-oscillating technique. A boost converter operating at discontinuous conduction mode naturally provides high power factor to the utility line. An LC parallel resonant converter yields a high frequency unmodulated sine wave current to drive the fluorescent lamps. This electronic ballast operates above the resonant frequency to perform zero voltage switching, which increases the efficiency. Experimental results have been obtained for two series connected 40 W fluorescent lamps operating at 40 kHz switching frequency from 127 V +/-10%, 60 Hz utility line. The results confirm that the proposed electronic ballast presents high power factor and high efficiency

    Summary:The design of an electronic ballast based on a Class D voltage switching resonant inverter is presented. A new control strategy based on a variable capacitance diode used to regulate the resonant converter frequency is proposed. The control allows the lamp to start by increasing the frequency to the resonant point, producing the necessary high voltage, then varying the frequency value to a minimal current consumption operating point. The ballast includes a power factor corrector and the experimental results show energy savings of about 30% at a very competitive cost when compared to an electromagnetic ballast
