Simulation the Impedance of Electrodeless Fluoresent Lamp
    Abstract
The equivalent impedance curve of a 40W electrodeless fluorescent lamp is measured. A simulation circuit is used in the circuit simulation software (orCAD). The simulated results are compared with the experiments. With the operation frequency increase, the error between the simulation and experiment is increase from 3.3% (198KHz) to 20.1% (233KHz). The analysis of the increase of error has also been discussed

Multiband terminal and base-station antennas for mobilecommunications

    Abstract
There is a growing need for multiband terminal and base-station antennas to serve existing 1st and 2nd generation mobile
communication systems and emerging 3rd generation systems. This paper presents some dual band terminal antenna structures for which prototypes have been built for the AMPS/PCS bands used in the US. One of the structures consists of a printed track on a thin
dielectric substrate, and this could possibly be extended to serve multiple bands (i.e. more than two). This could be important, for example, if one wanted to incorporate a GPS receiver for mobile location, without increasing the number of antennas on the handset.
A potential configuration is then presented for a triple band base-station array antenna, where this could serve the GSM, DCS1800 and UMTS bands. In this case triple band base-station antennas are important since initially it is likely that 3rd generation deployments will use existing 2nd generation cell sites. Minimising the number of antennas at a given cell site will also minimise the visual impact of the site. A second important advantage is that a triple band antenna will help to reduce the installation costs at a base site

    Abstract
A wide bandwidth multi-band antenna is designed and tested. The design is based on a dual-band patch antenna with the incorporation of microstrip band-stop filters. The antenna consists of two L-shaped probe patch antenna elements operating at different frequency bands. Two compact microstrip resonant cells are connected to the microstrip feed line to stop the transmission of higher frequency signals into the lower frequency detecting patch. As a result, the impedance bandwidths of the elements are wide enough to allow coverage of all the frequency ranges used in mobile communications; namely, five: CDMA800 (824/spl sim/896 MHz), GSM900 (870/spl sim/960 MHz), GSM1800 (1710/spl sim/1880 MHz), CDMA1900 (1850/spl sim/1990 MHz) and UMTS (1920/spl sim/2170 MHz).

    Abstract
This work presents a new method to realize directive base station antennas by incorporating cylindrical electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures. The EBG structure behaves as a partially reflecting surface (PRS) and significantly enhances the E-plane directivity of a simple radiating dipole positioned in front of a metallic cylinder. A novel cylindrical antenna that operates at 2.4 GHz is simulated and presented.

High performance PMLSM drives using TMS320F2812 DSP controller

Summary:A high performance position control for PMLSM drives using TMS320F2812 DSP controller is presented. Since the DSP has the characteristics of fast computation and the complete integrations of a motor peripheral circuit, a fully digital controller of PMLSM drives system can be integrated and realized by a software in a single chip. To increase the performance of PMLSM drives, an adaptive fuzzy controller is applied to cope with the system uncertainty and load variations. Some experimental results have validated the theoretical ones

High performance position controller for PMSM drives based on TMS320F2812 DSP

Control Applications, 2004. Proceedings of the 2004 IEEE International Conference on
    Volume 1, Issue , 2-4 Sept. 2004 Page(s): 290 - 295 Vol.1
    Digital Object Identifier
Summary: This work presents a high performance position controller for drives of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) using a TMS320F2812 DSP chip. Due to the new generation DSP (digital signal processor) having the characteristics of the fast computation (150 MIPS) and the complete peripheral circuits for motor drive, a fully digital controller of PMSM drives system, which includes a current vector control scheme, SVPWM generation, A/D conversion, coordinate transformation, QEP detection and an intelligent strategy, can be integrated and realized by software within a DSP chip. For increasing the performances of PMSM drives, an adaptive fuzzy controller constructed by fuzzy basis function and a parameter adjustable mechanism is proposed and applied in the position control loop to cope with the system uncertainty and to increase a fast tracking response. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed system, an experimental system included by a PMSM, DSP control board, inverters, and rectifier has been set up and some experimental results have validated the theoretical ones.

DSP-based microstep controller of stepper motor
    Abstract
This paper describes a microstep driving method of stepper motor and its DSP-based implementation. This solution uses a digital controller with PID algorithm to control the currents of the two phases of the motor, making them change according to the orthogonal sinusoidal scalarform curve, fulfilling the microstep driving of stepper motor and improving its position control precision by hundreds of times. At the same time, this driving method solves problems such as large noise, resonance and non-even step angle and so on.

Mobile Network Evolution toward 3G: A Techno-Economic Analysis
    Andrade, A.G.; Conte, R.
Electronics, Communications and Computers, 2006. CONIELECOMP 2006. 16th International Conference on
    Volume , Issue , 27-01 Feb. 2006 Page(s): 6 - 6

Summary: This paper addresses technical and economical aspects to configure a Third Generation (3G) mobile cellular network. Major components of costs and revenues and the major stakeholders are identified and a methodology is developed to compare the main factors affecting the business case of 3G operators and builds a model that estimates the profitability of different scenarios. An open issue, both from the technical and economic points of view, is to identify the requirements and the necessary steps to migrate from 2G to 3G mobile cellular networks. A number of mobile network evolution strategies toward 3G were generated and evaluated using the TERA model. Initial economic conclusions have been derived, presented and discussed using key profitability factors such as Net Present Value (NPV), and Payback Period.
