Oops, I mean "deliberated paradoxical rhetoric." I think the e***or has omitted my word . "Deliberated paradox?" Nah, it doesn't sound right.
Sobe, I??Tve got you babe. Don??Tt tell me the ??oWell, I don??Tt care if there ARE English 105??? is a good sentence. I know if I keep trying, getting you to write a full English sentence, you would break. Okay, I rest my case there, Mister Pernickety. As Winston Churchill said, "This is the sort of English up with which I will not put."
Longdatum, I just wanted to have some fun.
This discussion atmosphere suits me well. However Mister Pernickety is a hussy compare to Mister Gaup. Hey, it??Ts better if we can write more and make lots of mistake. We can go back and correct our mistakes. Isn??Tt it parts of learning?
CORRECT BUT CLUMSY: A hundred people have died. (Err for the teacher)
CORRECT BUT STILL CLUMSY: It??Ts been ages since we last swam. (Another err for the teacher)
Good bye, I have to go tackle the Francaise Club. It??Ts a mess there too.

Phù, mãi mới có thời gian lên mạng!!! Ko ngờ topic của mình....
Xem nào, đề nghị bad-girl gì đó nói rõ lý do, topic của tôi là tell me... vậy nếu bác vào tell thì tell ko tell thì thôi, đừng làm nặng web
To longatum: I wrote: "A hundred people has died..." 'cause I was lazy to type the following words "for the last 2 weeks" So the tense must be present perfect. But what I wonder is "HAS"...
The 2nd sentence, he he, I know I'm right... Thanks!!

Never mind the darkness, we still can find a way!

"Have" not "has" - you can see the explanation in one of my previous messages posted in the page 2.

Not only does the sentence "it's ages since we last swam" sound awkward, but it's also grammatically incorrect. Your teacher's sentence sounds a lot better but i suggest that she should sometimes try to stop being too technical. If you had modified your sentence to something like "it's been ages since we last went swimming", that would be totally acceptable. There are more than one correct way to write a sentence and the beauty of English lies in its diversitỵ
As for you, Mr. ThanhEDM, insteading of directing all sorts of unconstructive and humiliating comments to a number of inđiviuals here, you should show your support and help for those who truly need them. I understand your reason for being upset, but this forum was created so that we can learn from each other. It's not rare that we know native English speaks who wrie English with so many flaws.
    Wishing everyone a beautiful day,
    Woman In Love

WomaninLove, you are right saying that the beauty of English lies in its diversity. You are right suggesting the teacher be less technical in her/his writing. Yet look at your own writing, can anything other than so-technical-it's-stone-hard English be found? You are certainly, judging from your writing, one of the upper-rank writers in this forum, but come on, this place is no classroom of grammar, this is a common place where people get together and discuess in a friendly, open atmosphere, please keep writing but write in more open a fashion so that I don't fall asleep reading you.
Talk about White n Cold's sentence, what's wrong with it? May sound awkward, yeah, but that's all.
neway, good discussion, guys. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy it when I see so many good English posts in this forum.

Thanks for the compliment babe. But your comment about me sounds as uncontructive and humiliate, no? However I am a nice and forgivable guy to all women. Therefore you're forgiven.
Who is upset? I am having fun. Hey, read my posts again . I don't start unless being provoked. As they said, "Don't do onto others as others don't do YOU." Is there a lesson to be learned? Yes, we should concentrate on answering questions, not attack each other for little mistake. But it's ok . you feel free to attack me anytime.
    Cheers,

    To Longatum:
I certainly am not in the mood to initiate another discussion with you, but i feel obligaged to clear up your mind a little bit before you go on saying something more absurd and nonsense.
First of all, do you understand the definition of being technical? The teacher, from my observation, could have been labelled as such. Instead of crossing out the student's answer, she should have shown him that there were other alternatives. Likewise, in mathematics or other field of sciences, there are several ways to come up with a correct answer, and how you go about finding them depends wholely on your creativity (does this word sound any familiar?)
"this place is no classroom of grammar". I REST MY CASE. You are here a thousand times more often than i am, but i find it pretty appalling that you have seen nothing yet. Weren't you alert enough to see that the vast majority of posts in this forum were questions concerning the usage of the English language, particularly grammar? The author of the message that we replied to had a question about this problem, too. What a lousy memory you have there, Mr. Longatum.
Yes, the sentence sounds awkward; that's why opinions were needed to make it sound better. I guess you were too busy to show off your flawless English that you didn't realize that not everybody is equally smart.
    Happy reading,
    Woman In Love

Relax, ladies and gentlemen, the Bunch of Chicken Feathers has losen up quite a bit. Maybe he is swimming in his homeworks.
BTW, Mr. ThanhEDM, I am "despi" as in "despair" not DEPSI as in an old name of Prétrus Ký Highschool.
