Đây là một số TWE được điểm cao về chủ đề thi TOEFL hôm qua này: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. Use specific reasons and details *****pport your opinion.
1- Depending on different personal character, education background and emotional concerns, when comes to the contend of the books, different people hold different views. Some advocate that people should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts, since only realy things can make sense. Yet as far as I concern, reading books that are not about reality can sometimes be benifical.
"Without imagination, this world is dying." A famous Chinese author notes. Sciense fiction is about the future, according to author''s imagination. This kind of books is one of the most popular novels, especially with the youth. Therefore, reading sciense fiction can develop one''s imagination and creativeness.
Another benifit of books that are not about real world is that the charater is more typical. The most striking example is the heroes in the novel. In real world, there could be no such perfect people: brave, handsome and rich. But in novel, author can create him. Reading books that are not about real things can be more educative, more typical and more attractive.
Admittedly, some books not about the real things are rabbish, but there are still a lot of them worth reading.
In a word, as I mentioned above, reading books that has nothing to do with the real world could be so benificail, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that people should not read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts, but some not about real world .
2- There can be various opinions about what kind of books we should concentrate on reading, or extremely whether we should read only one certain kind of books. Some people seem to think that we should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts, probably because we can obtain much knowledge from those books. However, I disagree with them in that fictions and poems have the advantages of stimulating our imaginations and purifying our emotions.
The main reason why I think we should read fictions is that they can stimulate our imagination by showing us what haven?Tt ever existed. Stories about what people have never seen make people imagine about it and try to make it real. For example, space travel had been an imaginary thing that could be possible only in the fictions until several decades before. However, some people who had read the stories about space travel desired to travel in space and eventually created space ships. Reading fictions inspires our imagination, makes us try to create something, and therefore leads to the advancement of mankind.
Besides, I think we should read fictions and poems because it purifies our emotions. We feel pleased to read the happy end of a novel, or have the feeling of catharsis when reading a tragedy. Reading novels and poems purges our emotions and comforts us. For example, I make a habit of reading my favorite novels and poems when I am worried about something. I become comforted and calmed while I am reading them. The pleasure and catharsis from reading novels and poems are what can never be obtained from reading nonfictions.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that people should read various kinds of books, including fictions, poems because we can develop our imagination and purify our emotions. Surely we can get much knowledge from reading nonfictions dealing with real events and real people. However, that?Ts not everything we can get from reading. Why should we confine our reading only to fictions if we can get much more from reading various kinds of books?
3- reading is very important thing for people because while they are reading, they improve their language.I think people should not read abaut real events, people and established facts.people search different things in the books.maybe real things in the book does not give these things.if book based on facts,it reduced imagination,so people do not want to read books.moreover books give us a lot of feelings such as love, fear, stress etc
imagination is very special for people especially children.they improve their thought, feeling.behaviour etc.books provide new thing for people.they give us different aspects so we can improve our imagination.if we only read real stories we can not improve ourselves.for example alex wandrow,a famous scientist in greek, read a lot of books related to future.maybe they read stories which is make up by someone but it helps to improve his thought,so he is a famous scientist now
real life sometimes so boring that people want to get away from world.people who feel something like that, start to read books.they search something which do not find in the real world.they want to learn different feeling especially love.a lot of people know that the story of the leyla and mecnun which is a most famous story in arabia.while reading this story, people put themselves inspite of character found in the book.people feel special thing while reading these type of special books.
in conclusion only reading real things is not enough for people.a lot of people do not want to learn real things, because they live real things.they prefersome unbelievable things, especially children want to read these.moreover children start to like reading books which is so important for family, nations as well.real things sholud be in the book but it is only not enough for us (bài này được 4.5)
4- I totally disagree this ridiculous statement that people should read books about real events, real people and established facts, which will restrict people''s minds of imagination and dreams of romance.
There are two kinds of books in this world, one is the book about real events, real people and established facts, including history books and documentary books which mainly dealing with real things and people. The other is the book about imagination, such as fiction novels, drama scripts, and poem collections, which are based on illusion rather than facts. As far as I know, the later is much more than the former when we compare their volume as a whole. Then the problems arise here, if we only read the books that are about realities, who read the books that are about imagination?
In my opinion, imaginations and dreams are the power which push the human beings civilization ahead. Many established facts come from the minds full of illusions before they become facts. For example, in the ancient times, Chinese people had a legend that a lady named Chang''e flied to the Moon, which maybe the earliest model of the Moon Landing Program. Without the imagination, people may delay this program many years. Only with reading these books of fiction can we invent new products and develop new skills *****rvive through the competitive circumstance.
Books are one of the most useful media to carry knowledge of our forefathers. We must read both books about realities and books about imaginations and absorb the wisdom among them, as we cannot make any progress without imagination and dreams in these books.
5- From a child to an adult, every one need read verious books.someone only like read those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. But I prefer read more broardly, so that we can earn more imformation and knowledge.
Firstly, our most textbooks are not only about real deads. For example, our sicence textbook often have no much connect with the real deeds. Because they have much theories in it, although those sicence theories mostly came from real experiments or events. Those books are very useful for studiing seicene knowledges.
Sceondly,we need read some novels and fictions.those kind of book are useful to foster human moral chrarcter, though which we can learn lots of relationships between human beings, such as familys, reletives, and co-works,ect.the writers of those books often have deeper and more sensitive feeling than normal persons.their works are based on their life backgroud and their feeling and insight about lives. Although most plot are not about real people and real events in those book, we think thay are worthy to read.
The other reason is that we need use lots of tool books. They all are not about real deads, but they are our essesible resource to grasp knowledge.
In morden society, we have to choice some more useful book to read. So that some one only would like to read certain kind of books. I believe a old saying,"openning books is useful".We can see that lots of seccessful figures in the history all read widly, and have abundence knowledges.
In the conclusion, if we want got a splendid future,if we want go beyond others, we had better read more virious books,or not only pay attention in a small range.
6- There are so many books available relating to real events such as history books or conceived ones such as scientific fictions and allegory. Although the comments that books about real events is worth reading and should be read only are plausible at first glance, I would rather disagree this opinion for the following reasons.
In the first place, it is undeniable that the books about real events and real people has so many practical uses that we may study or mimic other people''s behavior to enrich our own experience. However, this alone cannot lead the conclusion that people should read only these kind of books for there are all kinds of books such as scientific fiction, allerory and fairy that they may also do good to us.
In the second place, reading scientific fictions can give more imagination to us and make us feel fun. Further more, they are the dreams of human beings and some of them can also give people ideas to achieve our dreams in the real life.
In the second place, for children, it is a hard thing to read autobiogrophy of some famous people or history events happend long long ago. On the contrary, some allergory or fairy seems acceptable by them and they can bring them more fun and educate them.
From what has been discussed above, we may safely reach the conclusion that it is not wise only to read books about real events or real people. Instead, allergory, scientific fictions and fairy are all good alternatives. (Score: 4.5)
7- disagree with the statement that people should read only books about nonfiction, because fiction books are more powerful than nonfiction books. So, I prefer to fiction books. Also, since there are many fiction books more than nonfiction, I think many people read fiction books, such as suspense. Moreover, as I think some nonfiction books are not exciting, many author do not write and many people do not read it. I am presenting following reasons *****pport my idea. My primary reason is that fiction books are more exciting than nonfiction books. Naturally, since nonfiction book base on real things, there are not many exciting story in our life. In my opinion, I sometimes learn from books but often reduce the stress from reading book. While I read a book, I replace with hero in the book. I can join the book story. So, my reading books are exciting books better than boring. For example, fiction book can write about love and murder, and happy end. However, nonfiction book cannot do, because author cannot change the story. So, fiction book is more enjoyable than nonfiction. By contrast, some people think that fiction books should not read. Actually, we can learn by nonfiction books, such as history. We should know about other countries story and war. If we would like to know about these, we can learn quickly by nonfiction books. However, nonfiction books are formal and difficult. In my experience, I prefer to watch the movie about war. I would like to read about war story in English, but I could not read that. The war story use difficult word, and understand about cultural other countries. I could not understand and gave up. So, we can learn many things from nonfiction books but we cannot be easy to understand. In conclusion, actually we can learn many things and know from nonfiction books, but we cannot be easy to understand them. I usually reduce the stress from books. So, I sometimes read nonfiction books and usually read fiction books. I disagree with statement that we should always read nonfiction books. Also, some books mix nonfiction and fiction. Theses books are more enjoyable than fiction books.
    8-
I think the media pay too much attention to the private lives of famous people. Television, newspapers, magazines and web sites dip up all kinds of past badactions. They say that these are true reflections of a person?Ts character. This may be true if they occurred only a few years before, but some of these are things people did as teenagers. People in their forties are expected to explain something they did when they were fifteen. If they killed someone, obviously that?Ts more than a youthful mistake. Usually, though, these incidents involve experiments with drugs or being reckless in a car. They''re not something that the public needs to know. The media love to say that the public has a right to know. That?Ts not true. We don?Tt need to know if a movie star or politician has had an extramaritalaffair. That is mething of concern only to the people involved. We do need to know if someone we?Tre electing to public office has been involved in shady business deals, but we don?Tt need to know if he or she defaulted on aloan twenty years ago. It seems the media dig up these facts without giving thoughtful consideration to what might happen. It has an effect on the celebrity?Ts family, especially the children. A celebrity?Ts good name and credibility may be ruined before he or she can prove that rumors are false. If a case goes to court, paying alawyer can use up all their money. Even if it doesn''t come to that, they may find their career ruined. When are we, the public, going to make it clear to the media that we are tired of having to watch this kind of thing on the news?Wouldn?Tt it be better if they would concentrate on more important issues?
9-Since thousnads years ago, books have been benefit people`s life very much. We get knowledge, experience, and entertainment in books. Variety books today provide us to study theories and facts, create our imaginations, solve the problems in living, and entertain us reducing stress. Some books are about real event, real people, and established facts, and others are in the contrary. As far as I am concerned, I disagree the statement that people should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts. First of all, as there is so many kinds of books in the book marketing, we should not limit the knowledge we could have. In past, only men, even rich men, could read; as time goes by, everyone in the world have the right to broad our knowledge, it is the best proverty that the acent left us. Therefore, reading as many as posible, no matter what kinds of books, you will be satisfied at the full mind. Never limit the knowledge you can have.
In second reason, in the more and more busy living today, morden people should have some good and efficient ways to overcome the increasing stress. Books are good medicine to cure anxiety, depression, or other nagetive emotions. The Books talking about the warm story can also warm our cold hearts, those are about tale, or makeing up story can give us hint to solve the problem that we have to face, and those presenting the barzard or funny events can absolutly make us laugh and reduce the stress to feel better.
Last but not least, people who want to be successful today need to learn as long as possible; that is to say, like an ld chinese saying, "the more you live, the more you learn." You must know that "honesty is the best policy." when it goes *****ccess, my version will be "reading is the best policy." The steel king Mr. Wang in Taiwan, he always reads in his whole life, no matter how busy he is. there is another saying in Chinese," there are gold in books." These all talk about that if you want to be successful, you better read more books. I what *****ccess, how about you? *****m, according to three reasons above, I think it is not true only to read the books that are about real events, real people. For me in book reading, the broader, the better. (điểm: 4.0)
10-There are many kinds of books that we can read today such as a fiction, biography, history and science abstract. Some people like to read fictions and short stories. Others read only those books that are established facts like history, biography. In my opinion, I choose the latter. Reading a real thing can make me know the world well.
I like to read biographies. Biographies can represent an account of a person`s life. Reading these books can let you know how people achieve successes, how they overcome difficulties and how they challenge themselves. Every time when I read the books, I can learn some useful experiences from them. The books also tell me that people?Ts successes in their fields are attributed to hard work. Reading from biographies let me go on my work in a correct way.
Another reason is that Reading books based on facts can know society. For example, you are interested in the history of your country. You can read a history book which portrays some true events during the development of your country. When you read the history, you can also compare now with past. Comparing will bring you a clear idea to know the country and world.
Besides, people rather accept a real event than a fictive fact. We are living a true world. A book based on true life can bring us similar experiences that we ever underwent. A fiction doesn?Tt have these experiences.
Admittedly, a fiction can bring your fun. However, it can not give you some true experiences of life and knowledge. We are living in the world. We need to learn a lot about our world. In conclusion, I agree that people should read only those books that are about real events, real people, and established facts.
