Một điều bất ngờ là sau khi Love Me Do đứng thứ 17 trong chart, GM muốn Beatles cover lại ca khúc How Do You Do It, nhưng họ muốn được phát hành dưới cái tên Please Please Me, với lời mới do John viết. Ông đành phải miễn cưỡng chấp nhận, nhưng sau khi nghe nó xong, ông thừa nhận nó sẽ là một number 1. Gerry And The Pacemakers, cũng do Brian Epstein quản lí, sai này đã đứng đầu bảng xếp hạng với How Do You Do It.

    A
Abbey Road - This is where the Beatles did the majority of recording when working on their songs. Earlier on their career they used the studio less as production of an album took much less time. Also, they were touring a lot more so they recorded all over the world.
Abbey Road (Album) - This was actually the Beatles final album although some people think it was actually Let It Be. The album was released on the 26th of September 1969.
Allen Klein - The manager of the Beatles after Brian Epstein died in 1967.
Anthology (Book) - The most recently released part of the Anthology items, this huge book is a very in depth interview with the three remaining Beatles that spans the whole of their Beatle career. The book also contains quotes from hundreds of interviews with John Lennon so as not to leave him out.
Anthology (CDs/Vinyl) - There are three double anthology albums, each one containing out-takes, alternate versions and live recordings of various Beatles songs. They also feature some songs that were never released and the first album includes several quotes from the band and their friends.
Anthology (Video) - There are eight anthology videos in total and each one runs on from the last (apart from the first one of course!). Included are interviews with the three remaining Beatles, George Martin, Neil Aspinall and clips of old interviews with John Lennon and Brian Epstein. There is also a lot of footage of the Beatles playing concerts and travelling all over the world.
Apple - The Corporation founded by the Beatles. The original intention of the company was to offer *****pport and money to artists, musicians and all other sorts of creative people but the plan backfired when they received thousands and thousands of songs, paintings, poems and drawings.
Astrid Kirchherr - Astrid Kirchherr was the girlfriend of Klaus Voorman until she saw Stuart Sutcliffe playing with the Beatles when she went to see them in Hamburg. Stuart eventually decided to leave the band and study art in Hamburg because of his love for Astrid and art. Astrid is still famous today as a photographer but her most recognised work is still that of the Beatles from 1960-1962.

    B
Beatles, The (White Album) - If there was ever an album with so many mixed opinions, this is it. During production, George Martin urged the Beatles to leave off half of the tracks and produce a good quality single album but the Beatles decided against it and released it as a double album. The album was released on the 22nd of November 1968.
Beatles For Sale - The fourth album by the Beatles which was released in 1964. the cover shows the band with long faces which some believe is an indication of the stress they were under. The album was released on the 4th of December 1964.
Billy Preston - The only artist ever to play on a Beatles song and be cre***ed for it. Billy performed on Get Back and Don't Let Me Down. He also played at the rooftop concert which turned out to be the Beatles final live performance together. This concert was filmed as the end of the Get Back Project.
Brian Epstein - The Beatles manager who tragically died in 1967.

Eric Clapton - The guitarist who plays the lead part on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. He is a good friend of George Harrison and it was George that asked him to play on the song. George Harrison - The youngest Beatle, he developed his songwriting abilities during time in the band and showed the most promising career after the band split up. However, he has since tended to keep to himself after several battles with cancer and a near fatal attack in 1999. It has recently been revealed that George Harrison expects to die soon due to his brain tumour.
George Martin - The man at Parlophone who gave the Beatles their recording contract. He went on to become their producer and worked on all of their albums as a band apart from Let It Be.
Get Back Project, The - In an attempt to get back to their original roots, the Beatles decided to make a film with them rehearsing and recording new songs for an album (that would be called Get Back) and a huge comeback concert. However, the atmosphere was not right and the project was abandoned. After the Beatles broke up in April 1970, Allen Klein used the material from the project to create the album Let It Be.

    P
Paul McCartney - Officially the most successful musician in history. He wrote Yesterday, the most covered song of all time, he was knighted by the Queen in 1997 and he is currently worth somewhere in the region of Ê750,000,000.
Pete Best - The original drummer of the Beatles, he was kicked out of the group by Brian Epstein when George Martin decided he didn't like Pete's drumming style.
Please Please Me - The first album to be released by the Beatles, released on the 22nd March 1963.

Quarrymen - The band formed by John Lennon and his school friends. They were performing at the Woolton Village Fete on July 6th 1957, the day when Paul first met John.

    R
Revolver - The arrival of this album was so greatly anticipated by the public that the band decided to leave 'The Beatles' off the from cover. This album, more than any other, was influenced a lot by George Harrison and it is easy to see how he is developing as a songwriter and a musician. The album was released on the 5th of August 1966.
Ringo Starr - The most underrated Beatle, often thought of as the least talented because of his lack of songwriting but by far the most lovable Beatle. There was a huge uproar among the Beatles' fans when Ringo replaced Pete Best in 1962.
Rubber Soul - The start of a new era of the band. From listening to the album you can hear their influences changing their musical styles, especially George Harrison with his use of the Sitar on Norwegian Wood. The album was released on the 3rd of December 1965.

Silver Beatles, The - After the Quarrymen left high school, they wanted to change from the band name that connected them with the school. They changed their name to the Silver Beatles.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - One of the most famous albums in all of music history for so many different reasons. The cover of the album was the first of it's kind, the sleeve contained the lyrics to the songs and the album itself took over 700 to record and produce. Even the inner groove contained a distorted psychadelic message from the band that looped over and over again so the album effectively never ended. The album was released on the 1st of June 1967.
Stuart Sutcliffe - The best friend John Lennon made during his time at art college. He convinced Stu to buy a bass guitar and join the band even though he had no desire to be a musician. While they were playing in Hamburg, Stuart met and fell in love with Astrid Kirchherr. He eventually left the band so he could marry Astrid and start studying art, his real passion, at the Hamburg State Art College. Stuart Sutcliffe tragically died of a brain haemorrhage in 1962.

William Campbell - Following the rumours that Paul McCartney died, William Campbell was the man who supposedly replaced him. He won the "Paul McCartney Look-A-Like" contest and the Beatles hired him to replace Paul, even going so far as to use plastic surgery to make him look more similar. There are a number of clues throughout the career of the Beatles to show that Paul died, quite a few of which appear before the date Paul was supposed to have died!
With The Beatles - The Beatles album that contained the first song written by George Harrison, Don't Bother Me. He wrote it in answer to all the fans who asked why he never wrote any of the songs. The album was released on the 22nd November 1963.

Yellow Submarine (Album) - The penultimate official Beatles album, it was also the soundtrack to the animated feature length cartoon staring the Beatles. The album contained the original score written by George Martin. The album was released on the 17th of January 1969. A new version of the album was released in 1999 to accompany the re-release of the film.
Yellow Submarine (Film) - The Beatles, portrayed in cartoon form, are enlisted to save Pepperland from the grip of the evil six-fingered Blue Meanies. Fortunately they bear a striking resemblance to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!
Yellow Submarine (Song) - What originally started out as a joke of a song spawned a new Beatles album and even an animated feature film.
Yesterday - When Paul McCartney first wrote this song, he was uncertain about releasing it as it was a big change from the rock and roll tracks previously released by the band. However, it is now the most covered song of all time with over three-thousand versions recorded by different artists.
Yoko Ono - John Lennon met Yoko at an art exhibition in London. He fell in love and they married in 1969. A lot of people blame Yoko Ono for the Beatles breaking up. Yoko was with John Lennon when he was shot in 1980 and when he died in the ambulance on the way to Roosevelt Hospital. Yoko still lives in the Dakota building to this day.

George Martin was born on the 3rd of January 1926. He developed an interest in music when he began to learn to play the piano at a very early age. He joined the Royal Air Force shortly before the start of World War II and during his stay he created a jazz band called The Four Tune Tellers in which he played the piano.
After the war ended he joined the Guildhall Musical Academy where he studied classical music with the oboe and piano as his primary instruments. After that he began to work as a freelance oboe player but soon quit that to work as an assistant for the president at Parlophone Records, Oscar Preuss. Between 1950 and 1955 he worked as a talent scout and discoverede such acts as Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan, Bernard Cribbins and Sophia Loren. In 1955 he became the president of Parlophone.
Unfortunately when George Martin became president, Parlophone was in trouble. Other record companies of EMI such as HMV and Columbia were doing very well as they had license to release rock 'n' roll records but Parlophone was only licenced for jazz and comedy and although what they produced was very successful in that genre, overall the company was in danger. When he arranged an au***ion with Brian Epstein's band, the Beatles, he knew he had to take a chance.
Altohugh George was initially unimpressed with the tapes of the Beatles sent from Brian Epstein, he heard a rough sound that he felt could be developed and decided to sign the Beatles to Parlophone. The one thing he really didn't like about the band though was Pete Best. He had an unusual drumming style and George wanted him gone so Brian Epstein was delegated the task of telling Pete he had to go. When the band went into the recording studio to record their first single, Love Me Do, they brought along a new drummer from Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, Ringo Starr. George was unhappy with the band bringing in a drummer without telling him and insisted on the session drummer Andy White so Ringo was forced to play the tambourine for the single. He did, however, play the drums on the album version of the song.
In the early days of the Beatles, George Martin was very much in charge although the band was very headstrong. One such incident is when after Love Me Do only reached seventeen in the charts. George wanted the Beatles to cover How Do You Do It but they insisted on releasing a song that John had written called Please Please Me. George reluctantly gave in but when he heard the song, he admitted that it was going to be the band's first number 1 single. Gerry and the Pacemakers, an act managed by Brian Epstein, later had a number one hit with How Do You Do It.
In August 1965 George Martin broke away from Parlophone Records and formed his own recording company, AIR (Associated Independent Recording). Most of the artists who worked with him in Parlophone followed him through the change.
In 1966 George told the Beatles that they were required by contract to release a single for Christmas. As they were working on the Sgt Pepper album at the time they offered two tracks, Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane. The single was unfortunately held off number one by Please Release Me by Englebert Humperdink which broke their streak of 11 number one singles.
Since the break up of the Beatles, George Martin has still worked on many Beatle related projects including the transfer of the red "1962-1966" and blue "1967-1970" albums to CD and production of the three double CDs for the Anthology project. His hearing is now deteriorating and his last project while he could still hear well enough to produce a record was an album called In My Life comprised of some of the best Beatles songs covered by all sorts of celebrities from Robin Williams to Jeff Beck to Jim Carrey.
George Martin was honored on the 15th of June 1996 when he was knighted by the Queen. Paul McCartney has since been knighted as well.
    Brian Epstein
Brian Samuel Epstein was born on September the 19th 1934 to his parents, Harry and Malka. Harry Epstein owned a furniture store next to the North End Road Music Store where James McCartney once bought a piano on an extended purchase plan. As time progressed, Harry took over NEMS.
In 1950 Brian started to work at the family furniture store but two years later he was conscripted for national service. Ten months into his two year conscription he was discharged for being emotionally and mentally unfit; he was caught impersonating an officer). In 1954 he was put in charge of another branch of the family business, Clarendon Furnishing in Hoylake.
Brian joined the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts with hopes of being an actor but he quickly discovered he wasn't cut out for show business and returned to work in the new NEMS store that his father had just opened. He expanded the busines from just selling pianos and wireless radios to include gramophone records. This move was such a successful one that another new branch of NEMS was opened at 12-14 Whitechapel and Brian became the manager of the store.
After a while, Brian began to receive requests from teeneagers for a German single called "My Bonnie" featuring a band called the Beatles. NEMS policy stated that if a record was available, they could get it so Brian Epstein went to the ****rn club to meet the Beatles. He was instantly taken by a certain charm they seemed to have and went to talk to the band after they had finished performing. He offered them his services as their manager and at a meeting on January 24th 1962 a five year contract was signed at Pete Best's house with Brian's assistant, Alistair Taylor as a witness.
Brian's first priority was to clean up the band's image. He got them to stop smoking and swearing on stage and finally managed to force them out of their leather clad image and into matching suits. He then started to line up au***ions with record companies, the most famous of which is the Decca au***ion where he was told "guitar bands are a thing of the past" to which Brian replied that the Beatles would one day be the biggest band in the world.
Although he hadn't been impressed with the tapes of the Beatles that Brian had sent him, George Martin of Parlophone Records, a division of EMI, arranged an au***ion for the band on June 6th 1962. He heard a rough sound that he liked and the band finally secured a recording contract.
Brian formed NEMS Enterprises in 1962 that month to handle the Beatles' affairs and soon signed a number of other acts including Cilla Black and Gerry And The Pacemakers. The success, however, was not enough for Brian. None of his new acts were as promising as the Beatles and as his five year contract was coming to an end he was concerned that the band would no longer need him. He was also more distant from the band because of their indifference and at times because of his homo***uality. He even suffered several severe beatings in public at the time.
As a result of this his emotional con***ion had worsened. He was fighting bouts of depression and growing less competent. After an accidental overdose of barbituates, Brian was found dead in his home in August 1967 while the Beatles were with the Maharishi in India. The band was never the same after his death and this is now considered to be one of the many reasons why the Beatles eventually split up.
