THE SPRING IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES - LUNAR NEW YEAR IN ASIA.

    JAPAN: In spring, you can find cherry blossom everywhere. The first day of new year, all family's members get together. The third day of new year, people visit temples for praying. After that, they buy dolls, paint eyes for them and pray. In March, a special festival which allows people to burn those dools will be held .

    THAILAND: Among 10 countries in Asia, Laos, Myanma, Combodia and Thailand celebrate lunar new year in April. In Thailand, people join "splashing water" festival together. They splash each other to wish luck and happiness. Lunar new year is also a good oppoturnity to visit parents, teachers and friends. Finally, members of family will call for pagodas in order to pray.

    KOREA: Like vietnamese tra***ions, Korean celebrates Lunar new year in January (following lunar calendar). In Eva night, people prepare strawberry tied up with a rope and hang it outside the door. To do that, they believe evil spirits and unlucky things will be driven away. After finishing tra***ional ritual of family, they dress up (native clothes) and play tra***ional games.


    CHINA: Dragon is the symbol of development and prosperty. Hence Dragon Dances are typical features of China. Besides, at 00:00 New Year's Eve, firework lights the sky. Chinese believes that sound of firework will wake sacred dargon up, and bring rains of spring to water fields.


    SINGAPORE: People eat Reunion Dinner (the night before New Year) then they toss (YES, toss) and eat a certain Raw Fish Salad (Yu Sheng) plus many more delicacies that night. First Day of New Year they go to relatives' and friends' houses and give/take Red Packets and/or Mandarin Oranges. In Singapore only the first two days are public holidays. There are loads of things people cant do in Singapore, the ban on fire-crackers greatly dampen the Festive Mood

    BRASIL: At the beginning of new year, people of Rio de Janeiro city go to beach to enjoy firework scene. They wear white deresses. The strange customs and habits can be found in Brasil: people throw flowers into seas, then they light candles to wish luck and happiness.

    MEXICO: In New year's Eve, people watch T.V and waiting 12 sounds of bell. Each sound of bell, they eat a...graph and pray. The they hug each other and say happy new year. Especially, woman who were unlucky in love will wear ..red underwears to wish happiness in new year.

    VENEZUELA: A big party with lots of wine (champagne) is the way to celebrate new year. In eve night, each person eats graphs (12) and pray. Some people write down their wishes on papers then burn them. Who wish to get much luck will wear yellow underwears.

    VIETNAM
    In spring, each part of Vietnam has particular color of flower. In moutainous North-West of Vietnam: Alpine flowers (hoa ban)

    the North of Vietnam: Peach Blossom (hoa dao) and the south of Vietnam: Apricot blossom (hoa mai).

    Lunar new year (or another name is the Tet holiday/lunar festival) is the chance for members of family to get together. The New Year's Eve is tra***ional ritual to worship ancestors. However, that's The Family Cult.

    Maybe I will imitate the way of greeting holiday of Mexican.. ---> woman who were unlucky in love will wear ..red underwears to wish happiness in new year!! j/k....
