Well, This sentence is a mystery to me. the USA is most decidedly an imperialist power, only not in the old sense of the word. The USA does not go around conquering foreign lands in order to add territory to itself and thereby expand its political and geographic boundaries, the way all the Western countries that could did in the 15th-20th centuries. It is, however, an economic and political imperialist nation. It seeks to exert influence on every country in the world because of its military, economic, and political power. It is also quite imperialist in demanding that all other nations in the world adopt a democratic form of government. America is engaged in a crusade that rivals the European Crusades against Islam about 1000 years ago. Bush has made that very clear. He says that such political reformation is his and America's "mission".
