ROSOBORONEXPORT REPORTED ABOUT RECORD ARMAMENT SALES
For the first time in the history of Russian armament and combat materielexport the foreign currency revenue exceeded $5 billion a year. GeneralDirector of Rosoboronexport Andrei Belyaninov reported about success inarmament trade to President Putin, according to experts, if the situation is
not changed radically, Russian exporters will remain on the record "plateau"of revenues only for a year or two.
Over the last three years, Rosoboronexport has managed to increase sales approximately by $1 billion a year. In 2001, the state-run intermediary in armament export sold weapons worth $3.2 billion, in 2002 its sales amounted to $4.2 billion and in 2003 they reached a record sum of $5.1 billion.
According to Belyaninov, Rosoboronexport managed to achieve such results not only through work with tra***ional partners in the form of India and China but also due to broadening of geography of the Russian armament export, especially due to active inclusion of South East Asian countries (Malaysia,
Indonesia and Vietnam) into the area of Russia''''s interests.
The following contracts were the largest in 2003: the contract for
supply of 28 Su-30MKK fighters to China worth about $1 billion, the contract with Malaysia for supply of 18 Su-30MKM fighters worth $900 million and 10 Mi-171SH helicopters worth $71 million, the contract with Indonesia for supply of two Su-27SK, two Su-30MK and a couple of Mi-35 helicopters worth
$193 million. The value of contracts signed in 2003 with
amounted to about $500 million. These were the contract for supply of two divisions of S-300 air defense missile systems worth $300 million, sale of 4 Su-30MK fighters for $100 million and sale of a license for building of missile boats worth $120 million.
In aggregate, in 2003 Russia sold weapons to 52 countries. Airplanes, naval armament and air defense systems were the best selling items on these markets. Representatives of Rosoboronexport, portfolio of orders of which for the next few years amounts to $12 billion, speak about further growth of
export revenue.
Along with this, experts in armament trade are pessimistic. Maxim Pyadushkin, Deputy Director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, comments, "This growth does not mean that Russian armament is so good and modern. Rosoboronexport simply learned how to trade efficiently." ccording to Pyadushkin, despite the success on foreign
market qualitative degradation of the Russian military industrial complex continues. Along with this, armament and combat materiel that Russia offers on international market represent models designed at the end of the 1980s in the best case. According to the expert, Russian armament exporters will
remain on the "plateau" of $5 billion a year for a year or two and adecrease will inevitably begin after that.

Một lần nghe người nhà kể, SP bắn thử đại bác 130 nòng tự chế, đến loạt thứ 3 thì ko bắn được nữa do nòng bị giãn nở, chất lượng thép kém quá. Xui cái hôm đó có tổng tham mưu trưởng đến coi nữa.
