    Tiểu sử Dino Zoff

    BORN FEBRUARY 28 1942
    CAPS 112

Acknowledged as one of the greatest goalkeepers in history, Zoff marshaled the Italians to both World Cup and European Championship success during a fifteen year international career. Highly respected by coaches and team-mates alike, his tough mental attitude and superb technique eventually won him a record breaking 112 caps.

He made his first class debut with Udinese (conceding five goals in the match!) before transferring to Mantova in 1963 and subsequently to Napoli four years later. In 1968 Zoff earned a call-up to the Italian national side and immediately helped them secure European Championship glory with victory in the final against Yugoslavia. Within three years he had become his country's undisputed number one. During the 1973/74 season, as if to emphasize his domination of the jersey, he set a world record of 1,143 international minutes (12 matches) without conceding a goal, and was voted runner-up in the European Footballer of the Year Award.

By this time Zoff had moved north to Juventus in a quest for the domestic honours that so far had eluded him. The switch marked an upturn in his fortunes as 'Juve' claimed the League title and Italian Cup before defeating Athletic Bilbao in the final of the 1977 UEFA Cup. A year later he steered Italy to a fourth place finish in the World Cup before reappearing as captain at the 1982 Finals held in Spain. In a fitting climax to a glorious career he led his team to victory with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over West Germany in Madrid.

After retirement as a player, Zoff became coach to the Italian Olympic team, returned to his beloved Juventus, and finally to Lazio where he is currently President.
