Tìm hiểu câu điều kiện dùng unless

Khi trong câu điều kiện có tồn tại dạng phủ định, chúng ta dùng unless để thay cho cấu trúc if … not.

Chúng ta chỉ dùng dạng thay thế này cho câu điều kiện loại I.

Ví dụ:

If we don’t start at once, we will be late.

=> Unless we start at once, we will be late.

If you don’t study hard, you won’t pass the exams.

=> Unless you study hard, you won’t pass the exams.

Lưu ý: unless bản thân nó đã có nghĩa phủ định, nên khi thay unless vào trong câu thì mệnh đề điều kiện theo sau nó chuyển về dạng khẳng định.

We will have to cancel the game if the weateher doesn’t improve.

=> We will have to cancel the game unless the weather improves.
