Cái ảnh AFP đăng một tàu ngầm đỗ ở bến để minh hoạ cho vụ này thì là: "A Russian Kilo-class conventional submarine belonging to the Chinese navy."
Nhưng đã biết chính xác loại tàu nào đâu, chỉ nghi thôi. Từ mấy tháng trước Nhật đã cú vì Tàu tăng cường thăm dò trong vùng biển tranh chấp. Địa thế nước Nhật hiểm thật so với Tàu: Chuỗi đảo của Nhật như cái lưới chặn Tàu ra vùng TBD.
Japan still searching for suspected Chinese sub
TOKYO (AFP) - Japan''s search for a submarine that entered its waters near a disputed gas field entered a second day as media reports quoted defence officials as saying the vessel was most likely Chinese.
The Japanese navy was still trailing the submarine with two destroyers and a surveillance airplane after continuing the chase through the night, a defence agency spokesman said.
"We do not know when the chase will be stopped," he said, declining to say where the submarine was or in which direction it was heading.
The submarine was detected early Wednesday in Japanese waters near islands disputed with China about 300 kilometers (180 miles) southwest of Okinawa.
The southern island of Okinawa is home to a major US military base.
Judging from its cruising sound, the Defence Agency believes the vessel is a Chinese navy Han-type nuclear submarine, the mass-circulation Yomiuri Shimbun and Jiji Press news agency said.
The incident is expected to deal further damage to already sour diplomatic relations between the two Asian neighbours.

Vietnam, South Korea Agree to Promote Military Exchange
Vietnam''s Defence Minister Pham Van Tra and his Republic of Korea (RoK) counterpart Cho Seong Tae have agreed to promote military exchange and co-operation between their countries, Vietnam News Agency reported Monday, December 18.
Cho, who arrived in Hanoi Monday morning for an official visit, held talks with Vietnamese Defence Minister Pham Van Tra soon after his arrival.
Vietnam''s Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Manh Cam also met with the visiting RoK''s national Defence minister Monday afternoon.
During the meeting, Cam said he was pleased to see a rapid development of Vietnam-RoK relations, especially economic and commercial co-operation, since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1992.
He appreciated RoK''s success in developing information technology and said he believed that the friendly ties and multi- faceted cooperation between Vietnam and RoK would develop unceasingly to conform with the desire and interest of both countries.
Cho conveyed RoK''s President Kim Tae-jung''s regards to Vietnamese Party and government leaders and spoke highly of Vietnam''s achievements while implementing its policy of renovation.
The visiting RoK''s National Defence minister also expressed the hope that RoK-Vietnam cooperative ties would be deepened in many areas.
Vietnam''s Defence Minister Pham Van Tra Monday Evening hosted a dinner in honor of the visiting minister and other members of RoK'' s military delegation.

NC nên tán đồng việc Nhật Bản thay đổi hiến pháp.
