Russia May Sign Deal *****pply 400 Battle Tanks to India ?" SourceCreated: 07.04.2005 11:27 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 11:49 MSKMosNews
Russia?Ts arms export agency Rosoboronexport is planning to sign a contract with India for the delivery of 400 T-90S tanks, Russian business daily Vedomosti reported on Thursday, April 7, quoting an industry source.Evgeny Maydanov, the general director of the Barricades arms plant which produces cannons for the tank told the paper that the contract, worth up to $1 billion, may be signed as early as June 2005. If signed, the contract will provide the Russian tank-building industry with two years of work. Representatives from Rosoboronexport have not commented on the information yet, but a representative of the Federal military-technological cooperation service said that such negotiations are taking place and the contract will most likely be signed. The T-90S tank differs from its basic model which is supplied to the Russian army. The export version of the tank is equipped with French electronic devices. The tanks will be delivered to India in half-assembled mode and final assembly will be carried out on location. Russia has already delivered 310 T-90S tanks to India. That contract, worth $700 million, was signed in February 2001 and was fulfilled in 2004

India to Assemble Russian Su-30 Fighter JetsCreated: 24.05.2005 15:57 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 17:33 MSKMosNews
Indiâ?Ts President Abdul Kalam, on a trip to Russia, made a visit to the Sukhoi aircraft corporation. India will assemble 140 Su-30-MKI fighter jets under a Russian license, it was reported by Russiâ?Ts Izvestia daily.Kalam and Sukhoi CEO Mikhail Pogosyan discussed New Delhi?Ts participation in developing the fifth generation fighter and the Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) medium-range airliner. India is ready to channel $100 million into the RRJ program. In 2004, Sukhoi won a state tender for developing the fighter, which is to phase out current Sukhoi and Mikoyan-Gurevich warplanes. Flight tests are set to begin in 2007.Sukhoi has been cooperating with France since 2002. New Delhi previously received Su-30-MKI fighters with French-Israeli avionics. Russia invited India and France to participate, but Paris said it has no intention of financing the Russian project, and that it will develop the Raphael fighter instead. Russia faces similar problems with India. New Delhi has refused to sign an intellectual-property agreement with Moscow. This document entitles Russia to its share of proceeds during the sale of Russian-Indian hardware on third markets.According to Kalam, an agreement could be drafted in a few weeks. A Russian-Indian expert group is now working on the document. But New Delhi still does not know which plane it really needs. It is unclear whether Kalam, who helped develop Indian nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, has solved this problem. According to official reports, the concerned parties do not solve various problems at this level. Sukhoi and the Irkut Corporation delivered 32 Su-30-MKI fighters to India this year, helping New Delhi master their license production. This is the largest contract in the history of Russian-Indian cooperation at more than $3 billion.
Russia to Sell India Multiple-Launch Rocket Systems Worth $450M ?" SourceCreated: 03.02.2005 11:55 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 12:13 MSKMosNews
Russia will sell India several dozen Smerch multiple-launch rocket systems, the Vedomosti business daily reported on Thursday, Feb. 3, quoting a top military official. The sum of the contract will amount to at least $450 million, making it Russiâ?Ts largest contract for the delivery of weapons for ground forces since 2001.A source close to Russiâ?Ts state-controlled arms export agency Rosoboronexport told reporters that India will receive no less than 36 multiple-launch rocket systems for a sum of no less than $450 million (including the cost of ad***ional equipment and ammunition).Another source, a staff member of one of the military enterprises that cooperate on production of Smerch (Russian for whirlwind) systems, confirmed that the contract will be signed ?opossibly in the next few months?. The technical parameters of the deal are almost agreed upon, said the source. The press service of Rosoboronexport declined to comment on the information. The e***or of the Moscow Defense Brief magazine, Ruslan Pukhov, said that the contract will become Russiâ?Ts largest deal for the delivery of arms for ground forces since 2001 when another contract with India worth $800 million was signed. Then, Russia was to deliver and assemble 310 T-90C tanks for Indiâ?Ts armed forces. If the contract is signed, India will join only two other countries where Russia has delivered Smerch multiple-launch rocket systems. They were Algeria (18 systems in 1999) and Kuwait (27 systems in 1995-1996).

Vài nhận xét của Nga về vũ khí củ của họ trên chiến trường hiện đại qua cuộc chiến Iraq .
" Iraq''s Soviet-built S-75 (SA-2) and S-125 (SA-3) air-defense missiles date back to the 1950s and they proved deadly during the war in Vietnam and the Arab-Israeli wars in 1967 and 1973. But U.S. state-of-the art smart weapons and electronic countermeasures are likely to reduce their efficiency to near zero. "

Russia Ready to Deliver Anti-Aircraft Missiles to Syria
    Created: 26.04.2005 15:53 MSK (GMT +3), Updated: 15:53 MSK
    MosNews
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov confirmed Tuesday that
    Russian
anti-aircraft missiles will be delivered to Syria, RIA Novosti
    reports.
After the sale was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin
    on Feb.
16, the United States immediately warned Russia the deal with a
    country
that the White House considers a state sponsor of terrorism could
destabilize the Middle East region. Israel also expressed concern
    that
Russian missiles would endanger the country.
The deal â?owill not upset the balance of power in the Middle
    East,â? Ivanov
said. He explained that the Strelets missiles will never be able
    to reach
Israeli territory if launched from Syria. They are purely
    defensive and
have only 5km range, he said.
Ivanov said earlier that the missiles cannot be used by
    terrorists because
they need to be mounted on a vehicle, a patrol boat or a
    helicopter.
The Russian defense minister also pointed out that Israel
    noticeably
surpasses Syria in its military ability, and so Israel should not
    object
    to the deal.

    Russians Test Missile for China
Moscow hopes to export more weapons to Beijing

Russian missile makers have recently tested a new weapon they hope to sell to China. The newly developed Russian missile is designed to attack naval targets, and well suited for attacks against U.S. carriers.
According to Aviation Week and Space Technology, flight testing is underway on a variant of Russia''s Raduga Kh-59M (NATO AS-18 Kazoo) anti-ship missile. Flight trials of the modified Kh-59 began in 2004, using a SU-30MK2 aircraft already sold to Beijing.
The Chinese naval (PLAN) air arm began taking delivery of the first batch of 24 SU-30MK2s strike-fighters in mid-2004. The newly modified missile has been fitted with an active radar seeker, advanced guidance systems and a special computer interface allowing it to use targeting data from the Su-30MK2 fighter.
The modified Kh-59 missile is fitted with a Saturn 36MT turbojet engine and its range has been extended to 186 miles or 288 KM.
