IAF conducts successful exercise with French force

Touching new heights, the Indian Air Force successfully participated in a fortnight-long joint exercise with its French counterpart at the picturesque Istres Base in Southern France during which the men in blue had a first-hand experience of state-of-the-art AWACS radar system.
The exercise with the French airforce named "Garuda-II", participated in by six Sukhoi-30 multi-role combat fighter aircraft and an IL-78 mid-air refueller, was held from June 15 to June 30 to enhance the strike capabilities of the elite force under varied con***ions.
Despite language hiccups and a busy French skyline, the Indian pilots performed "extremely well," a visibly buoyant Group Captain Shreesh Mohan, told reporters here.
"We did offensive counter air defensive counter air where two forces were formed, the blue and the red force graduating on to how to enforce a No Fly zone in a particular area. How do you protect a slow mover aircraft or a transport aircraft with a fighter aircraft if you want to ingress into the enemy''s territory? How do you protect an aerial asset, which is controlling you in the air like AWACS when bounced by the enemy. It was aimed operation where fighters from both sides were mixed to make a package to see how this job can be achieved," said Shreesh Mohan, Group captain.
The exercise has many records to its cre*** as it was the first time that Sukhoi-30s were deployed outside India and the fighters were controlled by Airbone Warning and Control System (AWACS). The fighter jets also performed a historic feet of flying for more than six hours at a stretch during the drill.
The Indian Sukhois and the French Mirages were engaged in visual and close combat, mixed fighter force operations and offensive and defensive air maneuvers during the exercise, during which Indian fighters flew for more 200 hours.
"Talking specifically in relation to AWACS, we did fly about four missions which were controlled by AWACS. The major difference with the type of control French Air Force does is it follows a more broadcast control pattern. While in our case we do train with a close control . And learning value from what AWACS has is the capability, the exposure by visiting their squadron, our observers and fighter controllers who went onboard the aircraft have got good information, which holds us in good stead. As we are on the threshold of inducting AWACS in two years or so we are better placed to manage our assets," said Shreesh Mohan.
The French side deployed Mirage-2000 ''Dash 5'' and C-135 tankers in the exercise, which is the second between the two forces with ''Garuda-I'' conducted in India in February being the first.
The Air Force considers the exercise a major achievement with the icing on the cake being the experience the pilots gained in a scenario where AWACS were used as it came ahead of the proposed joint exercises with the US Air Force in November. (ANI)

China tests new AFV developments

China is testing a number of new armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs), including a modified Type 98/99 main battle tank (MBT) fitted with a 140 mm smoothbore gun, it has been revealed. If fielded, the latter would constitute the largest MBT armament currently deployed.
For many years Chinese AFVs have been based on foreign designs, especially Russian, or used foreign sub-systems. However, the Chinese defence industry has made rapid progress in recent years and is now self-sufficient in most of the key areas of AFV design, especially MBTs and light AFVs.
The Type 99 MBT is now in production and service with the People''s Liberation Army (PLA) and is a further development of the Type 98, which was first seen in public late in 1999 during a parade of Chinese equipment.
The main difference between the two MBTs is that the latter has a more advanced arrowhead passive armour package over the frontal turret arc, similar to that of the German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann Leopard 2A5/Leopard 2A6 MBT, which has been in service for some years.
The MBTs are both armed with a 125 mm smoothbore gun fed by an automatic loader, which has enabled the crew to be reduced to three: commander, gunner and driver.

Vê-nê-xu-ê-la ký hợp đồng mua vũ khí của Nga
Ngày 17-5, Bộ trưởng quốc phòng Vê-nê-xu-ê-la, ông Giô-ge Ga-rxi-a Ca-nêi-rô cho biết, nước này đã ký kết hợp đồng mua của Nga 100.000 súng Kalashnikov AK-103 với khoản thanh toán ban đầu trị giá 27 triệu USD (một nửa giá trị của hợp đồng).
Bắt đầu từ tháng 10-2005, 28.000 súng trường sẽ được phía Nga bàn giao cho Vê-nê-xu-ê-la với giá 386,22 USD/1 súng. Số còn lại sẽ được bàn giao vào tháng 12-2005 và tháng 3-2006.
Cũng theo hợp đồng này, Nga sẽ giúp đỡ Vê-nê-xu-ê-la xây dựng một nhà máy sản xuất loại súng trường trong nước. Đồng thời, Vê-nê-xu-ê-la cũng có kế hoạch cử 45 chuyên gia nhờ Nga đào tạo về chế tạo súng trường.

Vietnamese airliner violates Russian airspace -defense ministry

MOSCOW, July 12 (RIA Novosti) - A spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry said a Vietnamese airliner had violated Russia''s airspace Tuesday but eventually landed in Moscow.
A Hang Khong Vietnam Boeing-777-200 was flying from Hanoi to Moscow''s Domodedovo airport. The source said this "had not been included in the flight schedule by the Russian main center for planning and regulating air traffic."
The Russian air defense authorities called it an intruder and attempted to stop it crossing the Russian border.
The Defense Ministry source said that in accordance with national legislation air defense authorities in the Samara regional center had been ordered to ensure the airliner left Russian airspace.
However, the authorities in Samara did not obey the order, which meant the airliner continued its flight and landed in Moscow.

Moscow, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - A Vietnamese commercial Boeing 777 jet violated Russian airspace Tuesday, the third such incident since June 26, a Defense Ministry spokesperson said.
The jet was operated by Hangkhong Vietnam Airlines, which was also responsible for the June 26 and July 4 incidents, the Transportation Ministry said in a posting.
Russian air traffic controllers managed to effectively deal with the violations, the ministry said.

BC không có nguồn dầu hỏa lớn . chính vì lẻ đó nó luôn tìm cách tăng cường ảnh hưởng và đi đến kiểm soát một số mặt của khu vực ĐNA nguồn dầu mỏ khí đốt và tài nguyên dồi dào cần cho công nghiệp hoá lục điạ BC . Tuy nhiên ĐNA đa số là đồng minh thân cận của Mỹ . sau khi thất bại trong việc dùng tiền để mua hợp pháp tài nguyên dầu mỏ ĐNA . BC chỉ còn biện pháp vũ lực nếu muốn kiểm soát nguồn tài nguyên trên . Vậy nếu BC muốn dùng vũ lực để kiểm soát vùng biển ĐNA Nga sẽ làm gì ? ủng hộ và cung cấp vũ khí cho BC nhằm mục đích giảm ảnh hưởng của Mỹ trong khu vực , làm suy yếu mỹ cũng là điều Nga mong muốn ? Nga chống lại BC bằng cách chấm dứt bán vũ khí và kỹ thuật quân sự cho BC để ủng hộ nhân dân ĐNA nói chung và nhân dân NC nói riêng Giúp Nhân Dân ĐNA bảo vệ quyền độc lập và sự trọn vẹn lảnh thổ ? Nga sẽ có xu hướng ngả về đâu trong hai xu hướng trên ?
