Militia repelled the assault of Slavyansk. Ukrainian forces have suffered the largest one-time casualities.

Militia stoped the attack on Slavyansk, which began in the morning of 3 June, during which the junta has suffered greatest losses of personnel and military equipment at one day.

About 6 p.m. local time, the Ukrainian forces began shelling the city, and Avakov announced the beginning of the assault.

At the same time, the militants of the national guard, with the support of aviation began the attack on Krasniy Liman, but very large losses forced them to retreat. Later fighting under the Red Estuary resumed. The battle at Slavyans continued. Ukrainian aviation and artillery continued to bomb the area of the battle, but militia responded with AA missiles from "Igla" and ZU-23 fire.

As a result, militia men were able to shoot down 1 Mi-24 and 1 SU-25 attack aircraft. Another 2 helicopter, including 1 with symbols of the UN, suffered serious hits and were taken out of the fight. The national guard lost a large number of armored vehicles, including 4 modern BTR-4 and 1 T-64. The exact number of the victims of the Ukrainian side for obvious reasons not disclose, but given the largest one-time loss of equipment, the number of those killed guards should go for dozens. “The situation on the front’s northern sector is grave.

The enemy has captured the town of Krasny Liman, after a short battle in which they had overwhelming superiority in every way. The local militia took heavy losses. Now the Ukrainian National Guard is there, mocking the local populace. The fall of Krasny Liman is a heavy blow to Slavyansk as well.

We were unable to aid the tiny garrison, as we were being stormed at the same time.

Starting at 5 a.m., the enemy heavily bombarded the town of Semyenovka using many different types of land-based weaponry, strike-fighters and attack helicopters. The bombardment is still ongoing and has resulted in casualties, so far 7 dead and 10 wounded.

After that, the enemy attacked Semyenovka with tanks, APCs and infantry from the National Guard, approaching from the direction of Seleznyevka. After a long and difficult battle the enemy was forced to retreat, having lost 2 APCs and an armoured Hummer, as well as one T-64 tank. Unfortunately, the hardware was not on our territory and has already been evacuated by the enemy. An enemy Mi-24 was damaged by smalls arms fire and forced to land. Unfortunately, it will quickly be repaired, therefore it cannot be count as lost but merely temporarily taken out of action. Numbers of casualties among enemy infantry are unknown.

In light of the gargantuan advantage the enemy has in terms of the weaponry available, I see our victory in this battle as a genuine feat of arms by our militia. It’s very regrettable that they must accomplish such feats using anti-tank rifles aged from WWII and having to make every single bullet count due to the lack of ammunition

If the situation continues as it is now, we will soon run out of ammunition, and that will be our end.



But we will still defend Slavyansk to the end! No one and nothing can help us now. Our reconnaissance subdivision in the area of Krasny Liman also took heavy losses due to air strikes, however they still managed to destroy two cars and one ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun belonging to the enemy, by ambushing them.

The Krasny Liman company also reported taking down one Sukhoi fighter.

I can neither confirm nor deny at the moment, but according to certain information the Kramatorsk company destroyed one BTR-80. On the Western outskirts of Slavyansk our special forces destroyed 1 enemy IFV.

In any case, the enemy is constantly using strike-fighters against us, 2-3 at a time. They work in shifts and use several airbases. In ad***ion to this, there are always 6-7 attack helicopters in the sky. Columns of enemy artillery, infantry, and armour continue to crawl towards Slavyansk literally from every direction. The times when they outnumbered us 10 to 1 are now “the good old days”. A division of BM-27 Uragan (“Hurricane”) multiple rocket launcher systems is moving towards us, whereas Semyenovka was already shelled today by BM-21 Grad (“Hail”) multiple rocket launcher systems. The amount of self-propelled and regular artillery pieces (calibres 122mm above) has for a long time already numbered over 50, and as for mortars, I’m not even going to attempt to count them. The enemy’s aim is to close the ring around Slavyansk tightly and once and for all."
