A Detailed Briefing From an #NAF Militia Fighter for June 4, 2014

The morning [in Slavyansk] again started with airstrikes. An air unit of SU jet fighters opened fire with unguided rockets (“NAR”) in the vicinity of Semenovka. A reconnaissance plane was present in the skies over Slavyansk and Semenovka.

Ground units of [Ukrainian] occupation forces showed activity on the southern outskirts of Krasniy Liman. We observe regular mobile service interruptions in the regions where combat takes place.

As of 11:00am Moscow time, automatic weapons’ fire could be heard in the vicinity of BZS (Slavyansk), near the turnoff to Krasniy Liman. Heavy smoke is rising over the Slavyansk Chemical Plant.

However, there are also good news. We were able to shoot down a SU jet fighter in the morning.

In the first half of the day the Junta armed detachments moved in the direction of Drobyshev (and, possibly, from there onto Lugansk). The southern and eastern parts of Krasniy Liman were occupied. Junta detachments are relocating without entering the western and northern parts of Krasniy Liman, by moving around Zeleniy Klin.

In the course of the first half of the day combat continued in the suburbs of Slavyansk, with Junta forces supported by aviation from the air.

15:15 (MSK) Semenovka is being pounded with artillery.

15:30 (MSK) A SU jet fighter shot NARs (unguided rockets) at Nikolayevka, a unit of SU aircraft is in the air, massive explosions can be heard coming from somewhere in the vicinity of Slavyanka.

16:35 (MSK) Ukrainian forces continue the artillery shelling of Semenovka, and are now joined by “Samovars” (Note: a type of artillery or mortar) from the BZS checkpoint.

16:45 (MSK) In the Sunny Dale [Note: that’s the translation] region, on the south side of Krasniy Liman, there are Junta troops with 2 APCs near a housing complex.

17:25 (MSK) Automatic weapons’ fire heard in the south part of Krasniy Liman.

17:55 (MSK) A unit of SU jet fighters came at Nikolayevka and Semenovka from the direction of Krasniy Liman and, according to an eyewitness, employed cluster munitions. The air unit conducted two approaches, shooting off heat traps in the direction of Izyum.

18:35 (MSK) Ukrainian forces continue with repeated artillery shelling of Semenovka, employing howitzers. In the vicinity of Amvrosievka, the Junta troops erected a checkpoint as follows: 2 detachments of enemy troops, from one side a truck and an APCs, from the other side a Ural truck with a ZU-23 AA gun. A Ukrainian rag can be observed hanging above the checkpoint, one of the Junta soldiers is wearing runners. It’s possible that they will form another checkpoint at the turnoff to Shakhtersk. Machinery with concrete blocks could be seen departing in that direction.

18:50 (MSK) A jet fighter approached Slavyansk from the direction of Semenovka. Air units continue conducting airstrikes against Slavyansk and Semenovka.

20:05 (MSK) Two APCs, a T-64 tank and 7 light cars seen crossing Krasniy Liman, along Potemkin Street. KPVT [Note: no clue] could be heard in the centre.

20:25 (MSK) Automatic weapons’ fire in the street, in the vicinity of the Central Hospital (Krasniy Liman). Artillery detachments turning around from the south part of Lesovichka and heading north.

20:35 (MSK) Explosions heard in the vicinity of mount Bogorodichnoe, artillery fire coming from the Central Hospital region (Krasniy Liman).

20:40 (MSK) Seven APCs observed passing along Chapaev Street, coming from the railroad station in the direction of Lesovichka. Automatic weapons’ fire in the forested area on the outskirts of Slavyansk.

20:45 (MSK) The Nazis have lists of Krasniy Liman militia. We are asking that all those who stayed in the enemy’s rear proceed to safe hiding locations.

20:55 (MSK) The Junta troops are concentrating their forces in the vicinity of Lesovichka. Up to 100 APCs and vehicles can be observed, 2 artillery detachments have been set up (one pointing in the direction of Kirov Street, toward the railroad station, and the other at the Kirov Street).

21:00 (MSK) A helicopter observed coming toward Krasniy Liman from Kirovsk. A unit of jet fighters and helicopters flew in the direction of Slavyansk.

21:05 (MSK) The situation in Donetsk remained calm all day. Junta continued airstrikes against Semenovka with brief interruptions.

21:35 (MSK) Two thick clouds of smoke observed in the vicinity of Semenovka.

21:50 (MSK) In the vicinity of the Central Hospital (Krasniy Liman) automatic weapons’ fire heard. Some of the personnel remain in the basements, the remaining hospital staff were taken out onto the street at gunpoint.

22:10 (MSK) Explosions in Semenovka, automatic weapons’ fire in the Molochar region.

22:30 (MSK) From approximately 22:30 onwards, Ukrainian forces conducted a rapid withdrawal of regular forces and 95th aeromobile brigade detachments, which include a fair share of NazGuard and RightSector thugs.

The Junta army also withdrew armoured vehicles and other equipment, including artillery pieces. Several Krasniy Liman residents were kidnapped and taken away in an unknown direction.

In the vicinity of southern Kirovsk and Tsaritsino automatic weapons’ fire and explosions could be heard.

On one of the directions in the suburbs of Slavyansk, the NAF militia broke through the NazGuard blockade and the latter withdrew with heavy losses.

00:30 (MSK) Junta troops resumes artillery shelling of Semenovka.

00:45 (MSK) A number of signal rockets above Slavyansk, automatic weapons’ fire in the Molochar region.
