** The following events in Beatles history all took place on July 19. **

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Beatles * [J] John * [P] Paul * [G] George * [R] Ringo * [O] Other
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1961
The Beatles perform at the ****rn Club at lunchtime and then again
    at night.

    1962
The Beatles perform at the Majestic Ballroom, Birkenhead. The
previous week was to have been The Beatles' final appearance after
three consecutive Thursdays at this venue, but they were asked back
for one more performance, due to popular demand.

    1963
The Beatles perform at the Ritz Ballroom, Rhyl, Flintshire.

    1963
Release in Sweden of Beatles LP "Please Please Me" (Parlophone).

    1964
The Beatles appear live on television from the ABC Theatre in
Blackpool, on the variety program "Blackpool Night Out". They
perform five songs, "A Hard Day's Night", "And I Love Her", "If I
Fell", "Things We Said Today", and "Long Tall Sally". The Beatles
also participate in comedy sketches (as doctors operating on Ringo
    and as refuse collectors).

    1965
US release of Beatles single "Help!/I'm Down" (Capitol). This mono
version of "Help!" differs from the album version and has a
different Lennon vocal; this version will be released on the
"Rarities" LP in 1980. 13 weeks on Billboard chart; highest
    position #1.

    1967
The Beatles' single "All You Need Is Love" is #1 in the UK charts
    (Record Retailer).

    1968
The Beatles in the recording studio (Studio Two, EMI Studios,
London). Recording "***y Sadie" (at one time titled "Maharishi").
21 rehearsal takes are recorded, some up to 8 minutes long. On
July 24, taping of a more structured recording will take place.
During the session, John sings a version of "***y Sadie" with
off-color lyrics. He also sings an off-the-cuff ballad about Brian
Epstein that has been bootlegged under the title "Brian Epstein
Blues". The Beatles also record a six-minute instrumental version
of "Summertime". Take 6 of "***y Sadie" is included on "The
Beatles Anthology 3" (Disc one, Track 15) and is faded out because
the end of the song had not yet been worked out.

    [J] 1971
A press conference is held at Apple headquarters to promote Yoko's
book "Grapefruit". John Lennon says, "In England I'm regarded as
the guy who won the pools. She's [Yoko] regarded as the lucky Jap
who married the guy who won the pools. In America we are both
    treated as artists."

    [P] 1975
The #1 single in the US is Wings' "Listen to What the Man Said",
and the #1 album in the US is Wings' "Venus and Mars".
