** The following events in Beatles history all took place on November 2. **

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Beatles * [J] John * [P] Paul * [G] George * [R] Ringo * [O] Other
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1960
The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit,
    Hamburg, West Germany.

    1962
The Beatles perform at the Star-Club, Hamburg, West Germany.

    1963
On the second night of a tour of Britain, The Beatles perform for
two "houses" at City Hall in Sheffield.

    1964
The Beatles, performing this one night in Northern Ireland during
their tour of Britain, perform two shows at King's Hall, Balmoral,
    Belfast.

    1965
The second and final day of filming for the Granada TV television
special "The Music of Lennon & McCartney". See Nov. 1, 1965, for
    details.

    1967
The Beatles in the recording studio (Studio Three, EMI Studios,
London). Recording the final overdub for "Hello Goodbye" (a second
Paul McCartney bass line). "Hello Goodbye" is then mixed into mono
for the last time. It has been selected for the A-side of The
Beatles' next single, the flip side to be John's "I Am the Walrus"
(released on November 24 in the UK and November 27 in the US).
John was quite irritated that his complex song was being stuck onto
the B-side of the single, while Paul's song (which he considered to
be somewhat inane) was made the A-side. While John's feelings are
easily understood from an artistic point of view, there can't be
much doubt that "Hello Goodbye" possessed a greater commercial
potential than "I Am the Walrus" did.

    1968
"Hey Jude" is the #1 single in the US for the sixth week in a row.

    [R] 1973
US release of Ringo Starr LP "Ringo" (Apple). Songs: "I'm the
Greatest", "Hold On (Have You Seen My Baby)", "Photograph",
"Sunshine Life For Me (Sail Away Raymond)", "You're Sixteen", "Oh
My My", "Step Lightly", "Six O'Clock", "Devil Woman" and "You and
Me (Babe)". 37 weeks on Billboard chart; highest position #2.

    [J] 1973
US release of John Lennon LP "Mind Games" (Apple). Songs: "Mind
Games", "Tight A$", "Aisumasen (I'm Sorry)", "One Day (at a Time)",
"Bring On the Lucie (Freda People)", "Nutopian International
Anthem", "Intuition", "Out of the Blue", "Only People", "I Know",
    "You Are Here", and "Meat City". 18 weeks on Billboard chart;
    highest position #9.

    [G] 1974
George Harrison begins a tour of North America with a performance
in Vancouver. Supporting musicians for the tour are Billy Preston,
Ravi Shankar, Tom Scott, Chuck Findley, Jim Horn, Robben Ford, Andy
Newmark, Willie Weeks, and Emil Richards. George is suffering from
laryngitis, and so the tour will generally be regarded as somewhat
    of a failure.

    [J] 1982
Yoko Ono's LP "It's Alright (I See Rainbows)" is released in the
US. John's shouts are heard on the song "Never Say Goodbye".

    [G] 1987
Release of George Harrison LP, cassette, and CD "Cloud Nine" in the
US (Dark Horse) and the UK (Dark Horse). Songs: "Got My Mind Set
On You", "When We Was Fab", "Cloud 9", "That's What it Takes",
"Fish On the Sand", "Just For Today", "This Is Love", "Devil's
Radio", "Someplace Else", "Wreck of the Hesperus", and "Breath Away
From Heaven". The songs "Someplace Else" and "Breath Away From
Heaven" had previously appeared on the soundtrack for the film
"Shanghai Surprise", but both songs were re-recorded for this
    album.

    [P] 1987
UK release of Paul McCartney compilation double CD, double LP, and
double cassette "All the Best" (Parlophone). The track listings in
the US and the UK are different. Songs on the UK release: "Once
Upon a Long Ago", "Mull of Kintyre", "We All Stand Together",
"Coming Up" (studio version), "Pipes of Peace", "Maybe I'm Amazed",
"Jet", "Band on the Run", "Ebony and Ivory", "Listen to What the
Man Said", "No More Lonely Nights", "Silly Love Songs", "Let 'Em
In", "C Moon", "Live and Let Die", "Another Day", "Goodnight
Tonight", "Say Say Say", "With a Little Luck", and "My Love". The
CD version has fewer songs than the vinyl, omitting "Maybe I'm
Amazed", "Goodnight Tonight", and "With a Little Luck".

    1988
UK release of yet another re-packaging of the 30 tracks from the
    Star-Club tape recorded Dec. 31, 1962: a box set of 15 singles
(Baktabak). Not satisfied with this, Baktabak also issued a CD
containing all 30 tracks (and a double LP too!) on Nov.21.

    1992
UK release of Beatles 5-inch CD singles box set "The Beatles
Singles Collection" (Parlophone). Box set of 22 5-inch CDs of the
22 original Beatles singles released in the UK. Pretty much the
same as the earlier 3-inch CD singles box set except for the size
of the CDs. Each CD single enclosed in a different picture sleeve.
