** The following events in Beatles history all took place on November 26. **

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Beatles * [J] John * [P] Paul * [G] George * [R] Ringo * [O] Other
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1960
The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit,
    Hamburg, West Germany.

    1961
The Beatles perform at Hambleton Hall, Huyton, Liverpool.

    1962
The Beatles in the recording studio (Studio Two, EMI Studios,
London), recording their second single. They record "Please Please
Me" in 18 takes, and it is selected for the A-side of The Beatles'
new single. Then they record 6 takes of "Ask Me Why" for the flip
side (they had recorded this song previously, but none of those
takes had been judged to be good enough for release). The Beatles
also play a third Lennon-McCartney number, "Tip of My Tongue", for
producer George Martin. Martin doesn't care for the arrangement,
and the song will never be recorded by The Beatles. However, "Tip
of My Tongue" will be recorded in July 1963 by Tommy Quickly,
another artist managed by Brian Epstein. The Beatles' second
single, "Please Please Me/Ask Me Why" will be issued by EMI (on the
Parlophone label) on January 11, 1963. George Martin confidently
and accurately predicts that the single will hit #1.

    1963
The Beatles, on a tour of Britain, perform two shows at the Regal
Cinema in Cambridge. Before the show, they give a live television
interview from their dressing-room (for the BBC-TV news magazine
    "East at Six Ten").

    1967
Version one of The Beatles' promotional film clip for "Hello
Goodbye" is broadcast on US television, on "The Ed Sullivan Show".

    [J] 1969
Buckingham Palace announces that John Lennon has returned his MBE.

    [J] 1969
A television special about John Lennon, titled "John Lennon: A
Tribute", is broadcast by the Canadian Broadcasting Company.

    [J] 1969
John Lennon prepares a new Plastic Ono Band single, "You Know My
Name (Look Up the Number)/What's the New Mary Jane?" He decided
that he would release these songs if The Beatles weren't going to
do so. For unknown reasons, the single release is put on hold and
never issued. "You Know My Name (Look Up the Number)" will be
issued by The Beatles on the B-side of the "Let It Be" single.
"What's the New Mary Jane?" will remain unissued until the
    "Anthology" series is released.

    [G] 1974
George Harrison, on a tour of North America, performs in Baton
    Rouge, Louisiana.

    1984
UK re-release of Beatles single "I Feel Fine/She's a Woman"
(Parlophone). 20th anniversary reissue. Issued as a regular
single and also as a picture disc.

    2000
The Beatles' compilation album "1" is #1 in the UK for the 2nd week
    in a row.

    2000
The Beatles' compilation album "1" is #1 in Austria and Finland.
The album is also #1 in France (listed on compilation chart only).
