    Hi, Anzcutie
It is very nice to hear that you are going to be interviewed and that the petition submitted by your spouse in the US has been approved. That is about over half of the process already in my knowledge.
About your question, the USCIS or the Consulate will not penalize you for misinformation where you found them and let them know of the mistake. They will if you do not let them know. Hence, just write them a very simple letter to tell them of the inaccuracy and what the correct information is.
You will need to write very simple letter and get to the point and say nothing else. It is because if you are lengthy some evidences in that lengthy letter may go against you later on. Never heavily argue with the Consulate. If they write something back to you that you will find the case becomes worse seek an US-qualified immigration lawyer. Baker & McKenzie or Ruscin & Vecci in Saigon will be able to help locate one for you. Do not argue or write anything further at the time. Lawyers will jump in and handle the case for you.
This is very simple problem. A very short notifying letter will do.

    Hi Analyst,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I have a couple things that I would like for you to please clear up for me.
    1. You said that I should write a letter to the US Embassy. I had forgotten to tell you that my interview will be taking place on the 28th of September. I don''t live in Saigon, so would you think that I should mail it to them before my interview, or should I hand it to them on the 12th of September (because I am going to Saigon on the 10th for my medical exam). Or, would it be best if I hand it to them during my interview? Perhaps you would know the best way to do it.
    2. You said that this is a very simple problem. So, if they ever write back to me to tell me that my case becomes worse, what do you mean by "worse," worse being that there will be delay? Could it mean that I have to take my interview again? Maybe they can''t issue me a visa?
    3. You were also talking about the US-qualified immigration lawyers in Saigon, may you please give me their phone number, or address, so that I would be able to contact them if something wrong ever happens? If they ever have to handle the case, do you think that I still can have my interview take place on the 28th? Would there be a delay?
There is something that I should also make clear for you, which is the fact that they have had my Packet 3 since the 28th of June; also, I have received my interview appointment letter on the 5th of August. If there is really a problem, would you think that they would have informed me before giving me the appointment letter? Perhaps they should have delayed issuing me the appointment letter? Or, do you think that they would ask me what happened with my information during my interview?
Again thank you alot for your help.

    Dear Analyst ,
This is what I am going to send to the US Embassy, please read and let me know if there is anything else I need to add. Thank you alot.
    To Whom It May Concern:
I, TNBC , whose case number is HCM......, am writing this letter to inform you of a written mistake that I had made on the form DS-230 SUP (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Supplement). On the line where it says, "Date of Birth," I had written "21" as the day, instead of "1."
    Sincerely,

    (Signature)

Please format the letter as follows:
Reference number [quote the number here normally it on the top of the letter the Consulate sent to you. This is normally called client reference number ]
(please provide this right at the top so that they will know what case it is since they have thousands of thousands of mails daily).
    [Addressee]
    Mr or Ms Consulate Officer
    [address]
    Ho Chi Minh City
    Vietnam
Dear Mr or Ms Consular Officer
(do not say to whom it may concern. You should address to someone and it shows you are thoughtful and specific)
    Update of Personal Details
(this is the subject and should be bold and underlined)
My name is ... I made a mistake when I completed Form [detail of the form]. My date of birth was written as [ 1 April and year] but it should be [21 April and year].
(do not apologize. This is a very minor mistake. Apology in law means you admit to be guilty).
    Yours sincerely,
Go back to the previous page and see my advice letter to Yen on the First Home Grant law issue. Your format should be similar. That is a formal letter style when someone informs another.
Let me know if there is anything unclear.
(Yen''s questions above will have to wait since I am busy today). I will come back tomorrow.
