MARCO VAN BASTEN BREAKS HIS SILENCE

In the December e***ion of FIFA Magazine, the former Dutch star striker Marco van Basten gives an exclusive interview on his plans and hopes for the future..
Van Basten, who was forced to quit football through injury at the height of his career with AC Milan, was an active participant at the recent meeting at FIFA House of the Task Force 2000 ad hoc committee. He agreed to talk to Dutch journalist Jaap de Groot for FIFA Magazine.
Excerpts from the interview:
FIFA Magazine: How difficult was the decision to settle for a physical handicap after being one of the world''''''''''''''''s greatest athletes?
Marco van Basten: Actually it was not so difficult as it might seem. After three years of pain I wanted a normal life again. Just imagine feeling pain every minute of the day, somewhere in your body. And that for three years! (....) Now I''''''''''''''''m glad I made the decision, because I''''''''''''''''m finally free of pain and I''''''''''''''''m dealing better and better with my handicap. Last summer I even played my first small game of beach soccer with some friends.
You''''''''''''''''ve managed to stay out of the spotlight for some time now...
... and I''''''''''''''''m going to keep it like that for a while! I first want to think about my future, because I probably have to make the most important decision of my life. For the first time there''''''''''''''''s the possibility that life will not be dominated by football anymore. But I''''''''''''''''ve got to get completely away from the football scene to make up my mind what I really want. (....) My mind needs rest, especially because after my injury I noticed that there is more to life than I had realised.
During your career you always had a very sharp eye for the quality of players and coaches....
...I agree with you, but then you must also remember that I''''''''''''''''ve seen with my own eyes how intense the life of a coach can be. (....) I wonder if being a coach is really all worth it. (....) I found out that out of ten so-called top coaches only one is really able to improve the team. Six out of ten do no harm and three out of ten even manage to make the team worse.
(....) You have a very clear opinion about the game, you love to attack and you''''''''''''''''re a winner.
But I''''''''''''''''m also a person who hates doing things on the average level. I''''''''''''''''m really only cut out to do things at the very top. But after success everybody is out to bring you down. There''''''''''''''''s the press who want your story and the public who want to cherish you, and the whole world jumps on you. The pressure that comes with it is extreme. That''''''''''''''''s why I''''''''''''''''m so unsure about returning to football, although my heart sometimes longs for it. (....) I''''''''''''''''ve always been a studious and inquisitive person. I enjoy developing myself and that doesn''''''''''''''''t mean I''''''''''''''''m focused only on football. I realise that very clearly and that''''''''''''''''s why I need to take my time.
(....) You certainly hit a few headlines with your suggestion to introduce the basketball rule of substituting a player after a total of five personal fouls.
(....) I really believe that only red and yellow cards are not enough anymore. Defenders have become so subtle nowadays, that a lot of fouls are disguised. People like Pietro Vierchowod and Jürgen Kohler would often obstruct me ten to fifteen times a game; fifteen times the ref would give a foul, but it also meant that my action was stopped fifteen times and the fans were robbed of fifteen chances of an exciting moment. But still my opponents would come off the field without being given a single card. If he gets a so-called ''''''''''''''''p'''''''''''''''' for every foul, a defender becomes more careful, and the striker automatically gets more space to play in. The idea would be that any player who gets five p''''''''''''''''s has to be substituted, while after three players with five p''''''''''''''''s the team has to continue with only ten players. I think this could be very effective.
Does your intention to create a cleaner game come from the mind of a player or a victim?
From a player who always loved to attack and to score goals. I don''''''''''''''''t see myself as a victim. I see myself as an example of how a wonderful career can also come to an end. The most frustrating thing for me is not the way I hurt my ankle, but the way I have been treated by some doctors. Because the person who damaged my ankle most was not a player but a surgeon.

Có đọc bài phỏng vấn này từ năm 19lâu lắm rồi .. khi đó đâm ra ghét bóng đá phát điên, xót Marco đến đỏ cả mắt! Marco muốn đem lại thứ bóng đá của những năm 70 .. hi vọng anh sẽ làm được điều đó .. và cộng thêm cả sự hiệu quả nữa.
Sẽ được thấy màu cam rạng ngời 2 năm nữa .. mong lắm!!

Anh thì văn thơ rất là dốt nát,nhưng rất là thích đọc thơ mới lạ chứ!!Anh nhớ hồi đó anh còn đi học ấy,mấy năm liền năm nào cũng mém ở lại lớp vì dốt văn trầm trọng.Nhưng đọc bài thơ con ếch này của em làm anh tức thơ sinh tình quá,anh chỉ xin cho anh làm tiếp 2câu cuối thôi,bé nhé!
