BEIJING: Gao Hongbo?Ts China started intense preparations for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 qualifiers with a one-month-long training camp on Thursday.
The 27-man squad, headlined by five players from Shanghai Shenhua, is currently training at the Xiang He Training Centre and will play three friendlies during the camp.
Hongbo?Ts men will play the Chinese Olympic team on July 14 in a warm-up before meeting Palestine on July 18 and Kyrgyzstan on July 25 in two international friendlies.
China are scheduled to play two AFC Asian Cup fixtures in November, both against Lebanon (14 and 22 November). The former AFC Asian Cup runners-up are currently second in Group D of the qualifying with three points from two matches. Syria lead this section with six points.
Hongbo has included six new faces in the squad. They are Ni Feng (Changchun Yatai), Tan Yang (Henan Jianye), Zheng Long (Qingdao Jonoon), Guan Zheng, Deng Zhuoxiang and Tan Si (all Jiangsu Shuntian).GaoHongbo
Shanghai Shenhua are the best represented Chinese Super League club with Du Wei and Sun Xiang leading the roll call of stars.
Hongbo, 43, led China to a 1-1 draw against Germany after taking over in May before beating Iran 1-0, in what was hailed as a great start to his reign. But since then reality has set in after the Chinese suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia in a friendly in early June.

No fear of losing for Japan
    Friday, 10 July 2009 03:01
    [IMG]

TOKYO: Japan''s coach Takeshi Okada insists that losing to stronger countries is a good thing if it helps steel the Blue Samurai in the run-up to next year''s FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Okada has fixed friendlies against the Netherlands, Ghana, Scotland and Togo in September and October to build up his squad toward his ambitious World Cup target of a semi-final spot.
Of the four countries, only 71st-placed Togo are ranked below Japan, 40th in the FIFA standings. However, the West Africans, who count Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor among their number, are still a formidable force.
"We fight to win but we never avoid fighting strong sides for fear of losing," Okada told reporters after announcing the international schedule on Wednesday. "If we lose, we lose."
Japan, former Asian champions, will play world number-three the Netherlands in Enschede on September 5 and 35th-ranked Ghana in Utrecht, on September 9.
"I want my players to feel in their bones the strength of first-ranking teams that have the potential to reach the last four," Okada said.
"It is a good thing if problems are exposed."
Like Japan, the Netherlands have already qualified for South Africa 2010 while Ghana lead Africa''s qualifying Group D with three straight wins.
After the Dutch tour, Japan will host Scotland in Yokohama on October 10 and Togo in Oita on October 14, according to the Football Association.
They are also hoping to allocate a FIFA international match day on November 14 for a friendly against a powerhouse such as England or the United States.
"I wish to raise the level of our team by one step through these matches," said Okada, who piloted Japan to a winless World Cup finals debut at France 1998 and assumed the job again in late 2007 to take over from ailing Bosnian Ivica Osim.
"We must improve the accuracy and speed of our kicking, outrun our opponents and outdo them in one-on-one battles for the ball," he said.
He has vowed that Japan, who excel in organisation but lack physical strength, can reach the semi-final stage in South Africa, as Korea Republic did in the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by the two Asian countries.

    Singapore set to tackle China
To celebrate Singapore''s National Day, the Singapore Lions are set to play China in the National Day Challenge.
The National Day Challenge 2009, which will take place on August 12 at the Kallang National Stadium, is the brainchild of local sports and marketing consultancy firm, The Red Card Pte Ltd which is headed by former national footballer R. Sasikumar.
According to Sasikumar, there are plans in place to bring other international teams. Asian giants, Japan have already been identified for future games.
"I firmly believe that this annual Challenge will play an important role in the ongoing development of football in Singapore. The tournament, although a Friendly, allows players access to a high level of opposition which provides them with a platform for competitive player development.
"In ad***ion, this Challenge represents another opportunity to reach out to dedicated football fans within the Singapore sporting community. What better way to reinforce the values that make football so appealing, than to have it coincide with Singapore''s birthday?" said Sasikumar.
The National Day Challenge has no prize money on offer, but national pride obviously is at stake for both teams. The two teams last clashed in September 2006 during the Asian Cup qualifier where both teams drew 0-0 at the National Stadium. Earlier, China narrowly beat Singapore in Tianjin with a 93rd minute penalty, despite pre-match predictions that the host country would win comfortably.
The Lions will be eager to prove that the results were no flukes where China would want to regain the respect of being one of Asia''s footballing giants, having gone from playing in the World Cup Finals in 2002 to being ranked by FIFA as the 13th best team in Asia. Currently, China are ranked 108th and Singapore 127th in the FIFA world rankings.
The match is also crucial as part of Singapore''s preparations for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifiers where they are set to play against Thailand in November.
Says Singapore National Coach Radojko Avramovic, "We''ll be facing a quality team with good individuals who will be out to prove themselves as many are new to their team.
"It''s up to us to analyse our last game (against Liverpool) and to look at different options in our lineup. This game will be important for us to choose our best possible team to for the matches against Thailand."

Vi? vậy bọn Thái vư?a rô?i có ho?a Liv, Sing có thua Liv thi? gia? sư? Thái có gặp Sing thi? cufng đư?ng mong vu?i dập được bọn Sing. Săfn có tâm lý như thế + thê? hi?nh tốt hơn nên bọn Sing đá ơ? ĐNA vô địch mấy lâ?n liê?n không hê? la? ăn may. Điê?u đó pha?i công nhận.
Một cách chân tha?nh, thê? thao liên quan tới thê? lực, em nghif VN ma? không có nhập tịch thi? việc bắt nạt (một cách thực sự) bọn Sing va? các bọn khác ơ? ĐNÁ la? hơi khó. Bọn thanh niên Sing có thê? hi?nh ô?n, chiê?u cao tốt, tất ca? nam thanh niên đê?u tra?i qua ít nhất 2 năm nghifa vụ quân sự nghiêm túc bắt buộc lúc 18 tuô?i va? nhắc lại ha?ng năm cho tới khi 35 tuô?i. Có lef vi? thế ma? em thấy đại đa số thanh niên đê?u có thê? hi?nh rắn chắc va? có cơ bắp.
Kết luận: hi vọng hôm tới có điê?u kiện xem qua TV trận Sing - Ta?u đê? thuật lại cho anh em.
P.S: Bác buonet cho em số liệu vê? Hoa?ng Đa?m với. Nghe nhiê?u nhưng ko rof lắm. Qua a?nh thi? em thấy hơi lu?n. Chiê?u cao em áng chư?ng dưới 1m72?
