In less than two years, VietAbroader has paved the way to US higher education for many economically disadvantaged students in Vietnam, while developing a reputation as a popular meeting point for Vietnamese youth.

Following this initial extraordinary success, VietAbroader seeks further innovative ways to reach out a wider pool of motivated students with interests in US higher education. We strive to accomplish our work through our flagship program, VietAbroader Conference, held in Vietnam every summer.

1. Get most useful and most reliable college admissions advice
Our workshop leaders are all Vietnamese students who have gained admission and acquired full scholarships to some of Americâ?Ts finest institutions, including Amherst College, Brown University, Princeton University, Stanford University, Swarthmore College, Wesleyan University, Williams College, and Yale University. More interestingly, most of us are among the first native Vietnamese to enroll in the aforementioned colleges. Unlike many Vietnamese students who have been admitted to American colleges with help of Study Abroad Counselling Agencies (TỈ Vấn Du Học) who would charge students a large fee, we VietAbroaders have gone through the admission and scholarship application process by ourselves. Therefore, we strongly believe our practical tips and hands-on experience will give you a leg up in competition and boost your chance of admission to your dream school significantly.

2. Get individual help
This half-day conference consists of four workshops on college admissions, essay writing, standardized tests and extracurricular activities. During the training, students will participate in interactive activities in small group settings led by student leaders. This is a rare opportunity for you to learn more about Americâ?Ts top schools, college admissions?T most well-kept secrets, and networking (chit-chat ) with the insiders.

What are the common errors in admission essays? Are sample essays good or bad? Perhaps most excitingly, we will also help you proofread your essays at the conference if you bring them along.
IIE Session: Pre-Departure Orientation
The IIE Session is mainly for admitted students. Other participants are welcome to stay around to ask more questions or get individual help if needed.
-Each workshop typically consists of a common presentation, a 10-minute questions & answers session, and a 15-minute small group discussions session.
-Water and finger food will be provided at the whole conference.

Cạnh tranh và cạnh tranh lành mạnh là một khái niệm vừa rất mới vừa rất cũ. Trong một cuộc chơi khi cơ hội có nhiều và người tài không hiếm, không phải ai và không phải lúc nào cũng có thể tận dụng xông lên ghi bàn. Ngày 25/6/2005 và ngày 17/7/2005, tại thành phố Hồ Chí Minh và Hà Nội sẽ diễn ra hai buổi chia sẻ kinh nghiệm và tài liệu về cuộc cạnh tranh dành học bổng du học, do chính các cầu thủ đương thời đã từng tung lưới từ các trường đại học ở Mỹ về quê nghỉ hè tổ chức.
Đây có thể là lần đầu tiên một buổi hội thảo cây nhà lá vườn như thế này được tổ chức. Các bạn đều là những du học sinh Việt Nam từ bắc vào nam, đã từng trực tiếp trải qua quá trình xương máu lần mò tìm trường, tìm tài liệu, liên hệ, nộp đơn, và dành học bổng từ các trường đại học tại Mỹ. Mục đích lớn thứ nhất của hội thảo là kết bạn. Mục đích lớn thứ hai là trao đổi kinh nghiệm và thông tin, cùng với một số kĩ năng và kiến thức của ?ongười trong cuộc?, nhằm giúp các bạn học sinh trung học Việt Nam hiểu rõ hơn về cuộc cạnh tranh này. Cụ thể hơn:
1. Kinh nghiệm tự học tiếng Anh và sử dụng tài liệu hiệu quả để dành điểm cao trong các kỳ thi tiêu chuẩn (TOEFL/SAT). Cách ước lượng khả năng của mình từ điểm trung bình và kết quả thi để nộp đơn vào những trường thích hợp.
2. Kinh nghiệm viết luận - những đề tài khó ăn điểm, những cách viết hoa lá cành, những câu chuyện không phải của mình ?" kinh nghiệm viết luận chân thành và giản dị nhất. Chia sẻ những bài luận đã thành công.
3. Kinh nghiệm tìm thông tin về học bổng, trường học, ngành học, giáo sư và bạn bè, môi trường địa lý và văn hoá khác nhau của các trường. Kinh nghiệm lọc thông tin từ vô số nguồn website, forum du học có thể gây nhiễu các dòng lựa chọn.
4. Cạnh tranh và kinh nghiệm ?ochơi đẹp.? Thư giới thiệu của các thầy cô không phải do mình tự viết. Bảng điểm không phải xanh đỏ tím vàng mà không trung thực. Không có bài luận mẫu. Những câu chuyện rất nhỏ bên lề cuộc chơi nhưng có thể phá hoại rất nhiều giá trị rất lớn trong cuộc đời. Làm thế nào để chơi hay, mà vẫn chơi đẹp. Cả bây giờ và sau này.
5. Kết bạn. Đây là cơ hội để các bạn trong nước làm quen, xây dựng quan hệ để học hỏi và chia sẻ kinh nghiệm với các bạn đang học ở nước ngoài và các anh chị khóa trước. Họ là nguồn thông tin chính xác, cập nhật, và cụ thể nhất về các trường học hay ngành học mà bạn quan tâm. Khi đã là người nhà, bao giờ cũng dễ nói chuyện.
6. Bố mẹ cùng chơi. Hội thảo cũng dành một bàn thảo luận cho phụ huynh có con đi trước nói chuyện với phụ huynh có con đi sau, để các bố mẹ cùng trao đổi kinh nghiệm giúp đỡ con cái những gì trong quá trình tìm trường, nộp đơn khốc liệt này.
(Ngoài ra, hội thảo cùng phối hợp với IIE tổ chức buổi Pre-departure Orientation, gồm những việc chuẩn bị cần thiết dành cho những bạn sắp qua Mỹ.)
