Where can i go for Toefl testing ?

You can go to the Ministry of Education and Traning (at Dai Co Viet str.) However, there are enough attandants as for the upcoming test (500 people). I think that you have to wait till next year (about June, but you shoud find information there earlier). The fee as far as I remember is 40.000 VND.

An 'institutional' test, which is nothing but a test randomly picked from a TOEFL practice book (I guess), costs you about 40,000VND. The only difference between taking this test and sitting @ home working on stuffs from a TOEFL book/CD is that during this test you put yourself under real testing con***ions (time restriction, have people grade the test for you etc.), or in other words, are stricter to yourself. Should only do this when you feel like you cannot be honest enough to face the horrible facts of your English skills, if you know what I mean.
A real TOEFL test, however, costs you $110 (computer-based) and, I think, $90 (paper-based.) More info is up in www.toefl.org
A popular place to register and study for the TOEFL in Hanoi is IIE on Tran Hung Dao street. Don't remember the exact address, but for sure you can look it up @ www.iie.org or by calling 116 (???)

Does anyone know how often the TOEFL International (not the VND-40,000 TOEFL placement test as described!) is held at that center in Hanoi? Is there any likehood that as many as 100 test-takers will be squeezed in a small hall of the testing center? Will they be provided with headphones for the Listening? Or they will have to listen with loud-speakers hung overhead?
Any idea????

early this year in vietnam still we could choose either CBT-computer based test or PBT-paper based test. if u take Toefl CBT, u will work on a 17 inch computer with a headphone ( for writing essay u can type on computer or write on a paper sheet given by the test center). each day there r only 6 ppl who take the test i.e 3 in the morning n 3 in the afternoon, there r only 3 computers in the test room, the test is held daily n u will have to resigter at least 2 months in advance becoz of the great number of candidates. the fee is abt $100 n it costs u another $10 for a money order ( u can buy it at the bank) which helps sending yr money together w/ ur Toefl application form to Regional Registration center which is not in Hanoi but in Kuala lumpur, Malaysia
above is some info abt toefl CBT but i ve heard that toefl PBT is the only choice now...too bad i dont know any lil bit abt this, if ur concerned, make a call to the test center or go straight there to ask, it s located in the offices of Institute of International Education ( IIE - also named sth kinda American library- lots of books there, say,Toefl, Gmat, Gre, College guidebooks n such)

Well, bạn phhn gửi form từ đầu tháng 6 mà bây giờ chưa nhận được admission ticket thì cũng hơi đáng lo đấy. Theo kinh nghiệm bản thân, nếu gửi form qua bưu điện (bảo đảm) thì sau 3 tuần nó về đến nơi. Materials nhận được trước/ sau ticket khoảng vài ngày. Thế nên samurai ko phải lo đâu, thể nào cũng nhận được trước khi thi.
Còn trường hợp của phhn thì Brit cũng chẳng biết làm thế nào cả, bạn có gửi bảo đảm form của mình ko đấy?

Có thể là admission ticket của bạn bị thất lạc trên đường gửi về VN. Trong trường hợp này, bạn nên viết e-mail cho ETS để lấy cái registration & ticket numbers của bạn. Bạn có thể print cái e-mail trả lời của ETS và mang cùng với hộ chiếu tới địa điểm thi. Rất nhiều trường hợp đi thi mà không có admission ticket đâu!
Còn nếu mà ETS nói là chưa nhận được bankdraft của bạn thì 1. gọi điện ra ngân hàng cancel và rút tiền về, 2. đăng kí online cho nhanh! Nhưng hi vọng là trường hợp này không xảy ra!
