Which version of spoken English do you like?

Nghe có giống dân Thái nói không bác nhỉ ?. Em thấy Philipin va Thailand nói cũng hay hay, nghe ngồ ngộ.Singlish thì em chịu chết, các bác ấy nói em chỉ có mỗi việc ....cười Oz cũng được nhưng em vẫn khoái nhất là accent của em. Nghe choe choé như cãi nhau

how about black american english??? it sounds pretty interesting... n English in Jamaica, do you know a recently famous singer named SEAN PAUL??? it''s amazing... i like it... the way he prounces WITH --> instead of "WITH" as usual, he speaks "WIT"... there are many other examples... anyway, it''s unique... n hard to understand, of course!!!

Hey Gerbich, I totally agree with you that Indian English sounds so funny! hehe how humorous you are to say "lốp bốp like bắp rang" I can still remember when I lived in Sierra Leone, most people I talked to were Indian and I couldn''t make out what they said at first, but it gradually became easier to understand. Now I miss it a lot and of course, I miss my Indian friends. Hey is there any one here who have watched ?oBend it like Beckham?? If you haven?Tt, then try it to enjoy Indian English hehe. What a pity, I seem to have lost my sense with it.
Regarding Singlish, it''s even better than Indian English though. My friend wrote me a letter and I couldn?Tt help laughing when every single sentence ended with "ah", "mah", "lah" It goes like this "Tao xin lỗi mày ah", "17 tuổi là mature rồi lah"?

G. làm chung với vài người Ấn độ , rất nặng về accent nhưng họ không thích nói chậm và rất mặc cảm khi bị bắt phải "spell a word " cho dù họ có spell thì G. cũng nghe rõ được chữ đầu và vận tốc nhanh dần nên chỉ nghe được duy nhất sound lốpppp bốpppp or rớpppp thôi . có lúc nghe giống như bắp rang nổ có lúc nghe như bàn tay lướt nhanh trên phím đàn .

Irish is the ***IEST accent ever XD *drools* I''d die for this accent!
Second for me is Brittish, even with an air of pompousness, it''s exxxxcellent. XD
Third is of course American. However I canNOT stand the Southern accent x_X too strange for my ears. It took me alot of effort to sit through "Sweet home Alabama" even though an excellent, sweet and homey movie, the accent was just a no-no. o_o
Cannot understand "Singlish either" ^^;; I can make out the words just too ..err..singlish. ^^ As for Australian..o_o...I won''t comment.

This topic is so good. But I wonder why there are so many votes for American accent but not British English. Can anyone give me a rough explanation for this phenomenon?

well, I don''t know how it sounds in your ears but to me American accent is simply amazing! In other words, they don''t speak English, nor do they pronounce it, but they sing it, yeah, words and phrases, as if in a melodious song or in a catchy poem. And that explains why ppl have their hearts on it, for they like "speech music". American accent sounds just like musical, not mechanical as in, say, British English. If you hear an American speak English, you will kind of ask yourself whether they are singing a song or reciting a romantic poem, because their accent is evidently musical, as opposed to mechanical intonation or accent from the likes of British or Indian.
I also like AE but trouble is it''s seeminly too late to pick it up. There is no AE-pronunciation class here in sight, nor is there any American friend to talk to. It really sucks!
Hearing American speak is just like hearing Southerners speak Vietnamese: their accent is so light, so romantic, so musical, so "líu lo" like a singing bird.

in my opinion, firstly, I would like to telll that the people in here always use many words which can be called "Sublime", I see thats good for those who wants to improve their vocabulary, but...hic, It''s very difficult to understand. Im living in London_ capital of the UK_the cradle of English, and I see that the more superior your ENglish is, you use more simple words, which are easy for understsanding.
I speak British English (certainly), and I often watch USA''s films, and I see AE is much easier to listen than BE.
I loathe Indian ENglish (so sorry 4 those love or speak IE), ''cause the lecturer of my worst subject is an Indian, during this lecturer''s class, I always fall asleep bcause It seems I am listening to a bird song without understandability
