Which version of spoken English do you like?

Come on, man, you''''ve got it! I just gotta know this kinda forum not so long ago and so far, you seem to be the coolest though most ambiguous, agressive and knowledgable! Be who you are, take it easy and everything''''s gonna be fine. I heard from somewhere that you''''re going abroad very soon. Good for yah. Man, you''''re gonna love it. It''''s really free, baby! And I''''m pretty sure that A. English will be no big deal to you.

Can you tell me why you prefer American accent to British accent? Thanks a lot!

Thấy mọi người bàn bạc hăng quá cũng muốn nhảy vào góp chuyện. Có một lần tớ và mấy đứa bạn đi phỏng vấn bên SIMI, được nghe giới thiệu trước là sẽ có hai Mr. ngồi tiếp chuyện với mình, một người Việt (chẳng nhớ tên), một người Sing. Đến ngày phỏng vấn, hai đứa hăm hở đến nơi và được một bác da ngăm ngăm đen (thế này thì đúng người Sing nhé, ko fải người Việt mình rồi.), nhưng mừ bác ấy cứ nói liên tu bất tận, phỏng vấn gì mà hỏi bọn tớ được có mấy câu rồi toàn kể chuyện gia đình bác ấy thôi. Nào là chuyện bác ấy chưa lấy vợ, nào là chuyện bố mẹ bác ấy như thế nào....Lại còn cứ "I sing...I sing..." Bọn tớ ngồi như hai đứa ngớ ngẩn, tự hỏi lão này bị làm sao mà cứ hát hoài, nghe một hồi rồi mới phát hiện ra bác ấy đang nói "I think...". còn nhiều chuyện lắm nhưng lâu rồi nên chả nhớ nữa. Và cuối cùng mới biết ra bác ấy người Campuchia. Hicz, sau đó bị ấn tượng xấu về cách người Campuchia nói tiếng Anh, đến giờ vẫn chưa xoá được.

Actually, I find British English much easier to follow, and to adopt as well, yet American English somehow sounds far more beautiful to me. If you?Tre asking me why, then I?Td give the same explanations as Captor of sin?Ts. I?Tve been dreaming to study in the United States since I was a little girl, so having American accent is definitely beneficial, it would be, to a certain extent, easier to adapt to life there. What is more, American singers are arguably most successful and influencial in the world, their songs are loved n sung by a huge number of people and I am one of them. Therefore, AE sounds so smooth, listening to Americans speaking is like listening to a sweet melody, don?Tt you think? I?Tm trying hard to be able to speak English with a little American accent, but it?Ts definitely not easy at all Quidnunc, it strikes me that you were born in the United States, is is right?

Thanks brit for sharing with me. I was so curious to know why people in vn prefer A. accent just because I just recently found out how lucky I was learning the right thing at the right time with the right people. I wasn''t born in America but spent a significant time during my early teanage years there. When I learned English, I had heard so much of English, therefore when it came to listening and speaking, that was no big deal. After joining the club, I gradually understood how painful it is for so many people learning to speak English. I don''t know what to do to help, so just wish you good luck and hope you have a chance to come to America soon. I believe that''s the best way to perfect your American accent.

I can''t agree less with captor_of_sin stated that AE is "far more challenging and difficult to adopt" than BE. It''s just another biased opinion !!!
I had learnt TOEFL for a few years and at the time just like most of you guys I thought AE is fantastic, so cool and BE in term of accent was lousy compare to AE.
Remember the first day in London, I thought, hell, British ppl can''t speak English properly as American ppl. When I tried to buy a bottle of water at the station they had''t got a faintest clue what I wanted, it''s not "wát đờ" but "wát tờ". It took me a few weeks to get to understand what British ppl speak properly.
To me, AE accent is way easier to imitate than BE. Loads of ppl would scream at the screen right now that I''m talking rubbish but to me that''s the case.
I''ve worked in London as an interpreter for 2 years now and most of people I spoke to thought I was an internship student from America.
Have you actually listened to Londoner''s accent or well - educated British''s accent or is it just a matter of assuming?

Long time ago, my spoken English version is Vietnamese English. I have used cable TV system for six months, and watched BBC so often. I don''''t know why my spoken English version is BE now ( may be BBC spoken English version). And i know some people loke me. Can you give me an answer?
