Is anyone from this forum gonna take TOEFL Int''''''''l in Hanoi this Sat?

What should I do to prepare for the test while I have as few as 3 days away? I haven''''''''t started preparing at all due to so tight a work schedule. Do you really think doing a couple of practice tests from the likes of ETS, Longman, etc will help in some way?

Could anyone with past experience with the test prep please give me some advice?

BTW, could anyone having taken GMAT before tell me exactly where I can sign up for a GMAT course in Hanoi please? Without it, I think I will draw a blank on the test because I graduated several years ago and mathematics is now a closed book to me.

    Thanks in advance.

It''s a good idea to do a few practice tests so you know what to expect in the real test. Try to finish those on time. You shouldn''t try to study anything now since it won''t help much anyway. Instead, try to relax a day or two before the test. Get some sleep, your head will thank you. .
The biggest problem I''ve encountered in every test is time. So time your answer well.
I don''t know much about GMAT stuff and i''m not in HN so sorry i can''t help you.
Anyway, good luck on your exams

Hi Fanny 98, thanks a ton for your useful advice. I''ll follow it to the letter. I''m now close to having finished as many as 7 practice tests from the Official ETS over these past 2 days, all done continuously without ever reviewing. I don''t know if cramming for the test like this will be any useful but actually I don''t have any other choice.
Do you have any idea how different in terms of difficulty and lenghth of reading passages the actual test is from the practice tests in the ETS prep book?
Do you think practicing with PowerPrep CD-ROM is any helpful in preparing for the PBT? I''ve just finished a test from this software and I''d say it''s a lot harder than the PBT on the listening part.

    Hello again,
7 tests are quite a lot actually. But you should know a bit about the format and difficulty level by now especially the directions or all the you-need-to-know stuff about the exam. This would help you save sometime on the actual test.
Regarding reading comprehension: the length of the passage varies. However, there are a few tips that maybe helpful for you:
    1. don''''t expect to be familiar with the topic or content of the passage. Don''''t panic because the questions for the passage are based on the information given in the passage. After all, it''''s testing your reading comprehensive skill, not your knowledge.
    2. Always analyze the passage carefully before answer the questions. A good approach is try to get the thesis statement of the passage, separate main ideas and supporting ideas of each paragraph. Note the transition between them(are they contrasting? complimentary? etc.)
    3. when you answer the questions, read ALL the answer choices first carefully and make sure that you understand what the question is asking.
    4. The best answer is the most accurate and most complete based on the information given in the passage. Do not let your own view or opinion conflict with the answer ( It happens, trust me ).
    Regarding Listening:
Basically on the same stuff as reading comprehensive.
Don''''t expect to understand every single words. But instead try to catch the key words in each sentences. Like Subject + verb + object. Read the answers FIRST carefully if you can. The answer is the most accurate according to the conversation you heard, not your opinion
Good Luck! feel free to ask.
e*** - you should review your prep exams.

I guess with your English level, TOEFL test won''t be a big trouble and it isn''t worth worrying about. If my memory serves me right, you said you took an IELTS test and as for you, it''s much more difficult than TOEFL so just sit back and relax. Of course, if you have time, doing some practice test won''t do any harm to you.
The length is just the same and some reading passages in the CD are even more complex than the one I read in my TOEFL test, it''s just a kind of "mock" exam though.
So close no matter how far... I have you in my heart and nothing else matters... :x
