My answer is simply that "Because the sunlight is brighter than the starlight" or "Because the sun's rays (sunlight) mask(s) the starlight".

We can't see the stars in the daytime not because of the star_rays masked by the sun rays. It depends on the human feeling only. We know that the star_ray's power is far less than the sun ray's one. So our eyes are not smart enough to analysis the appearance of star rays . But some modern devices can find out them from the signs received then they can absolutely see the stars in the daytime, not only the night.
