    This definition is Australia style
Today?Ts word is ?ocorê?, from the Latin ?ocor? meaning ?oheart?.
Core as a noun or adjective has the idea of something essential, the quality or qualities without which something would not be what it is. If we talk about an organization?Ts core values, we talk about those things that it believes in most deeply. If we say that someone is ?ohonest to the corê?, that means he is completely honest, and always honest.
We might also use core to refer to the center or interior of something, as opposed to the outside or surface or skin. The core of an apple or other fruit is the place where the seeds are. The core of something is its center.
So you have in English the concrete meaning (location, i.e., the center) versus the abstract meaning (important, essential). The abstract idea in English is expressed by comparing ?ocorê? and ?oessential? to ?osuperficial?, which literally means on the surface. This comparison is very common and very useful in English.
Your core curriculum is comprised of the courses that are most important to you (or the discipline you are studying). And someone who is ?orotten to the corê? is just a really bad person

This is a test exercise, based on the words U knew
Use an appropriate form of the phrasal verbs below to fill the gaps.
    Topic: Gardening
    A: My back aches!
B: I thought gardening was supposed to be a relaxing hobby.
A: Well, it is if you only have small plants and good soil. The trouble
is that ours is like rock! You need a drill to break it. It took me two
hours to ______ ____ the vegetable patch!
B: Never mind. I m sure the carrots and potatoes will taste better as a
    result.
A: Mm. I m not sure that the rose bush will do better I decided to
______ it ____ and move it to a more shaded part of the garden, but I
think I might have damaged the roots. And I think I might have ______ it
____ a bit too much as well. The tree looks a little odd as well - I
______ ____ that broken branch that the kids were swinging on.
A: When you say it like that, it makes it sound like you spent the day
ruining your back AND the garden!

ok, let's see how much I can do, sp
    1. dig over
    2. dig up
    3. cut back
    4. lop off
If you say I'm totally false, sp, it won't be a shock And you know what, I think cut back and lop off have the same meaning, I don't know where to put the two words, itâ?Ts somewhat confusing. It can be exchanged I guess.
Keep on your work, Iâ?Tm learning. Thanx.
As we go on, we remember all the times we had together
As our lives change, come whatever
We will still be FRIENDS FOREVER
